الكتاب كان أفضل مما توقعت بكثير. وجدته مميزا و ممتعا رغم رتابة الموضوع الذي يتناوله (تقدم دبي في مختلف المجالات و الطريقة التي أدت إلى ذلك).
من بين الحكام العرب جميعا، أكثر من أحترم هم حكام الإمارات. الذي قدموه و لا زالوا لشعبهم و لدولتهم عظيم جدا، مقارنة بما كان متوفرا لديهم و بما كان من الممكن أن يتجاهلوه طمعا في راحة البال و استقرار الحال.
الشيخ القاسمي أسس كنزا علميا مهولا في إمارته: مدينة جامعية تضم أكبر عدد متوفر في العالم من الكليات و الجامعات و المعاهد؛ لا توجد مدينة بهذه المساحة تضم هذا العدد من المنشأت الأكاديمية. و الشيخ آل مكتوم و والده و نهضتهما بدبي نهضة عمرانية اقتصادية سياحية ... واسعة حولت دبي لمركز عالمي في أقل من نصف قرن!. و الشيخ زايد رحمه الله و الكم الهائل للاحترام و المحبة التي استطاع أن يزرعها في نفوس شعبه اتجاهه أمر يستحق التقدير و الاحترام.
بالإضافة لهذه الخلفية التي أحملها عن الإمارات و التي جعلت من الكتاب متعة قرائية كبيرة، فإن محتوى الكتاب بحد ذاته مبهر. طريقة تقديمه لنظرته و معتقداته اتجاه مفهوم و ممارسة القيادة و إيمانه بتميز لا نهائي قد تصل إليه دبي، كله كان مبهرا.
تعلمت من قراءتي للكتاب أن ما وصلت إليه دبي لم يكن "محض صدفة"، بل نتاج فهم شامل لمفهوم القيادة السليمة و تخطيط عام و مفصل لوجهة نجاح محدد؛ و أن المطب الاقتصادي الذي تعرقلت به دبي ليس إلا كبوة جواد سينهض منها أقوى مما سبق.
استمتعت في قراءة الكتاب كثيرا، و لولا حاجتي لإعادته للمكتبة، لأخذت وقتا أطول في قراءته رغبة في متعة أكبر.

On the surface many Westerners may read this book and see it as a Leadership 101 Seminar. It's much more than that. Written by The Ruler of Dubai and VP / Prime Minister of the UAE- you will understand why his constituents are proud of him. He is a true Champion of not only who he immediately reigns over in Dubai and his country in general- but of all Arabs. On a particular note: his philosophies on the efficiency and effectiveness on the Public Sector vs Private Sector and how they strengthen each other is something every Western Leader could learn from. His philosophy on the importance of Women Leadership and Entrepreneurship is inspiring and not surpassed by any successful Western (or Eastern) Country. On a personal note: his Chapter on the importance of horses, yes I said horses, was beautifully written with wonderful Arabian History. The Arab World should be very proud of this Man. A true Leader with a true Vision. I've visited Dubai recently and have seen the proof and success of this Man's Vision.

I am a big fan of motivational books as I tend to be a person who wants more from life rather than an ordinary existence. I can say that this book has succeeded to produce some change, to motivate me, to dream higher,to put a touch of excellence in everything I do. I knew that His Highness is a successful leader but I never thought he could be so cultivated. ظننت أن الكتاب دعائي في البداية إلا أنني عندما بدأت بقراءته أحسست بالعمق الفلسفي السياسي للكتاب..

I bought this book not having much expectation, but wanted to know how the Dubai Sheikh thought. It was a good read since he comes straight to the point, and not beating about the bush. Over the years I have developed a distaste for management books because most of them is anyway old wine in a new bottle, and in this book you will get an insight on to the 'social learning' of Arabs. A refreshing book if you want to read from a person who has actually 'done' it - it would be a far cry from mgmt books, since those are written by thinkers and teacher.....this is a 'doer's' book.

As Ronald Reagan once said “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things”. The leaders of the UAE forged a strong economic place making the country a pioneer in many elements. The book “My Vision, Challenges in the Race for Excellence” by Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum highlights the importance of leadership to form a strong community on many aspects. “My Vision” focuses on the most important steps for a revolutionary and unique approach towards development to set a creative example for the Arab world to follow.
The story of the “Challenges in the Race for Excellence” scrutinizes the different aspects of the United Arab Emirate’s sole growth experience and path to its success. Seeing how this newly formed country was able to make its way into the leading nations is extremely remarkable. Furthermore, the strong rulers it has had and its effort into making it an international hub could explain its triumph. Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasizes the importance of leadership through his words and actions, giving a great example to rulers around the world. Besides, the book seems to blame the stigma of the division in the Arab world but believes that the poor state of affairs, “like a lonely cloud crossing a clear sky, will soon disappear” (Al Maktoum 6). He believes that the division is unusual and that the trivia and the negative concerns revolving around it are overwhelming the positive. This statement principally points out the heedless conflicts in the Arab world stopping it from being a strong empire. The crisis rather than being an economic one is justified to be one of perennial egotism, organization, and guidance caused by a lust for control. Good leadership is defined by the capability of the UAE to have formed a stable community with its people’s interest put first, rather than that of only a specific group. Consequently, this book praises the development goals of the UAE’s and the effort furnished to thrive.
The unprecedented rate at which the United Arab Emirates has prospered into is outstanding and still seems to race for greater accomplishments. Since the United Arab Emirates’ establishment in 1971 it has excelled in numerous variety of areas and overthrows the world in a number of trail-blazing projects. For instance, Dubai has the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa and has built the artificial islands, Palm Islands. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum describes life as a number of opportunities and a ruler’s role is to grasp them to benefit his people. “With each new day in Africa, a gazelle wakes up knowing he must outrun the fastest lion or perish. At the same time, a lion stir and stretches, knowing he must outrun the fastest gazelle or starve. It is no different for the human race. Whether you consider yourself a gazelle or a lion, you simply have to run faster than others to survive” (Al Maktoum 12). Despite the UAE’s numerous achievement they are not yet satisfied to rest on their laurels and the key to this triumph is that failure in not an option to them. In order to embrace this rapid change, the nation’s government and its people must be able to respond quickly to new conditions and adapt gradually but also to commit and dedicate hard work to form a modern infrastructure. Therefore, this story shows how it is important to be proactive to make history and not to rely on the past but also to set benchmarks for future leaders to follow to always progress in time.
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum tries to spread the message that if a society sets herself a goal it can easily excel like the UAE did. Also, the idea of unity is very important in this book as it always refers to finding an agreement with the whole Arab world. If all societies consent to excel in all fields, different races, religions, and cultures can cohabit without any divergence. For the government to achieve its targets it is crucial to serve the community by “assuring our people economic growth, education, health, security, stability, comfort, leisure opportunities, and freedom of movement” (Al Maktoum 13). The UAE’s race for excellence is fundamental to them to keep on the same level. If they fail, in this fast paced world they will quickly be left behind and another country, perhaps less capable, might as well rapidly take the place. That is why the UAE’s philosophy is to always look ahead and always find ways to develop. Furthermore, globalization is also considered as a way to development in which international interactions will determine the future by taking its source in advanced technology, economy, efficiency, and infrastructures. Looking back at the Muslim’s past, Islam’s message is universal. Adopting globalization in science, finances, and trade brought many benefits for Arabs and Muslims in the past. Refusing to embrace globalization would be to remain in the dark. Therefore, a society yearning for success should always imagine bigger and accept globalization.
In conclusion, in order for any society to succeed it should have a progressive and pioneering approach towards success. The race for development described throughout this whole book had been supported by the many achievements the UAE has had. The most important secret to development is to always grasp any opportunity and furnish effort to succeed. Today, many countries struggle to provide its people balance and different types of services, which results in crisis and in many other problems. Finally, the most important message to retain is to always reach out for the best no matter the effort needed and look into improvement no matter how successful one gets.

I think this is really nice book,will written by His highness sheik Mohammed Bin Rashed al muktoom.He talked a lot in the beginning about his fathers birth, qualities , features and achievements ,then he talked about himself and his achievements,beside that he told us some private situation that he gone throw with his father .So its really nice and worth reading it.

A masterpiece of development, clearly outline his step-by-step to excellence and his desire to see the Arab world reach higher limits and in a bid to see Dubai become a pioneering leader in all fronts. Who thought Dubai would be where it is? HH. Sheikh explains it, tackling the challenges at hand and how he's managed to overcome. Excellence is in team work, train and target the best talent while training new generation and crop of leaders who will take up the challenge once the current leadership has exited the stage.

سعيدة لأنني أخرت قراءة الكتاب إلى هذه الفترة، لأني لم أكن لأفهمه لو قرأته يوم صدوره في 2006، وكنت بالتأكيد سأنقصه حقه وأهميته.
قرأته الآن وكأني أقرأ نفسي في كثيرا من جوانب عملي ورؤيتي وإدارتي لفريقي. فيه كثير من الدروس والتجارب التي مررت بها شخصيا. فيه كثير من الإجابات التي كانت أسئلتها تدور في ذهني عن مدى صحة ما أقوم وأؤمن به، بعضها تطابق وبعضها اختلف فيه وبعضها يحتاج مني إلى تصحيح مسار.
ترداد ذكر مشروعي مدينة دبي للإنترنت ومدينة دبي للإعلام وما كانت الإمارة تطمح للإستفادة من خلال تدشينهما ملأني بالفخر والاعتزاز أني كنت عضوا في فريق الشيخ محمد بن راشد في تحقيق جزءا من رؤيته. عملت بصمت وراء الكواليس دون أن أعلم بأهمية الدور الذي كنت أقوم به والقيمة التي أضيفها في مسعى القائد للتنمية. كنت جنديا مجهولا، تولى مهام إدارة مشروع نقل الطاقة الكهربائية لهذين المشروعين بالإضافة إلى مشروع أبراج الإمارات قبلهما. تلك المشاريع كانت بداية الانطلاقة في إدارة عجلة التنمية للإمارة وبداية انطلاقتي بعد التخرج في كلية الهندسة. ثم تلتها ��لعديد من المشاريع التي كان لي أيضا دورا في تنفيذها كفرد وقائد لفريق.
جميل هذا الانتماء والتأكيد على مقولة الشيخ محمد بأن دبي بأكملها فريق عمل واحد.
وكذلك في مقولته في خواتيم الكتاب:
"محمد بن راشد ما كان يقدر على فعل أي شيء من دون فرق العمل التي يقودها ومن دون دعم القطاع الخاص. أنا لم أحقق بذاتي كل هذا النجاح؛ هم الذين حققوه. من أقصد ب"هم"؟ كل فرد في كل قسم من كل دائرة حكومية، وكل تاجر في القطاع الخاص وكل ناشط فيه وكل من أسهم معنا في تحقيق ما سبق من أهدافنا في أي قطاع أو مكان وجد فيه"

in this book you will explore dubai's experience in raising their way up. it contains a lot of theories and skills that the leader Mohammad used. it concentrates on the leadership skills and the vision that a leader should have, and a lot of live evidences from his privet and his work-life.
he used tittles and sub tittles as the style of the book which makes it easier to follow, he's almost always straight to the point, and uses a lot of statistic to prove his points, yet repetition of some parts of the book is boring!
if you are a person who is looking for improving your leadership skills, this is NOT the book you are looking for, it was not personal at all, the audience of this book was the community as a whole , or the people who are on the top of the ladder, and not just a regular person who is trying to improve.
the introduction is really catchy, one of the most memorable parts was in the introduction,

This is holy book for me ever since I read a Last cover page detail of the book in book store. Intellection start from "gazelle and the lion" reality to vision, leadership, management, resolution, team work, Industry development, exploration in the minds, politicians and politics, THE GREAT positive energy and negative energy, excellence in development, Made in Dubai, the institutionalization of privilege, The Road to the Future, Race of nations and peoples, all these thought process could happens only in mind of the great person whom GOD chose to become as The Leader. and His Highness proved it by making Dubai as LAND OF OPPORTUNITY ! من الواضح انى قرأت ملخص للكتاب وليس الكتاب نفسه فالنسخة الالكترونية التى وصلتنى لا تتعدى ال55 صفحة على خلاف عدد الصفحات الموجودة بالمعلومات عن الكتاب
ولكن من خلال ذلك الملخص يمكننى القول بان سمو الشيخ قائد حقيقى يتمتع بوضوح الرؤية وقوة الارادة
استطاع ان يثبت ان الكفاءة ليست مرهونة بجنسية ولا ديانة ولا خلفية ثقافية معينة انما مرهونة بالرؤية الشخصية السليمة والقدرة على التنفيذ
تألمت جدا لما آلت اليه الامور فى مصر خاصة عند ذكر المقارنة بين كوريا الجنوبية ومصر ولكنها الحقيقة فاما ننهض من كبوتنا او نظل مثال للفشل

كتاب رشيق كتب بلغة عصرية سهلة وممتعة ..عرفنا الكاتب رحلته الناجحة للخطط التنموية البارعة للصعود في مدينته الناهضة وكيف انها اصبحت من ضمن اكبر المراكز التجارية في العالم واصبحت ذا ثقل تنافس وتسابق سنغافورة وهونغ كونغ وتايوان واشاد في كتابه على الاستثمار في العقول فدبي تتبنى كل من هم ذوي الافكار النيرة للنهوض بخططها المستقبلية فالطموح هو الاساس الذي ترتكز عليه.الكتاب فيه جزء بسيط ايضا من حياة الشيخ محمد بن راشد والحقيقة انه كتاب قيم ومفيد انصح بقرآئته

لا أعتبره شرحًا لتفوّق دبي وحسب، بل أفكارًا عملية لكل باحث عن النجاح والتميز.
مفاهيم كثيرة حول الريادة والتقدم واغتنام الفرص وصنعها، وعدم الاستماع للمحبطين والمتخوفين من كل جديد، والتطوير أيًا كان نوعه، وقهر التحديات، وأفكار للإداريين وكيف يوقظون طموحات الشباب لا كيف يُميتونها كما هو سائد في بعص المجتمعات ...
الكتاب عابته الإطالة، فقد كان من الممكن اختصاره ومناسبة حجمه للفكرة التي يدور حولها.

كتاب رائع، عرض سموه الكثير من الدروس القيادية والإدارية والتربوية. تكلم بلغت القائد صاحب الرؤية المستقبلية الواضحة. أوضح للقارئ بأسلوبه السهل كيف أصبحت دبي على ماهيه عليه وأين ستصل.
أكثر ما أعجبني في الكتاب انه لا يستند على مراجع كثيره غير إشارات من القرآن والسنة وبعض الابيات الشعرية وهذا بالنسبة لي يعني أن الكاتب استخلص خبرته في هذه السطور

The United Arab Emirates has achieved unprecedented economic growth since it's inception in 1971 and to read of the visionaries behind such, was indeed awe-inspiring. I finished this with a renewed sense of what can be achieved through determination, dedication, and smart work (I'm not a proponent of hard work; been there/done that). A highly recommended read.

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum: „My Vision. Challanges in the Race for Excellence“, Dubai 2012
Im Zuge einer Studienreise kaufte ich mir dieses Buch in Dubai. Also jenem Ort, an dem es geschrieben wurde. Dubai ist eine fantastische Stadt. Ihr Leader schreibt jetzt über Vision. Das muss man gelesen haben. Es ist aber der Text eines Politikers, wie er irgendwo auf der Welt in irgendeinem anderen Land leben könnte. In einem unterscheidet sich aber Dubai. Die Stadt ist gelebte Globalisierung mit internationalem Handel. War es eine Stadt die zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts noch von Perlenfischern lebte, so brach dieses Geschäft durch japanische Zuchtperlen ein. Man suchte nach Alternativen. Der Versuch Öl zu finden scheiterte noch in den 30er Jahren. Man baute auf Goldhandel. Erst in den 60er Jahren stieß man auf Öl. Inzwischen hat man sich aber auf den internationalen Handel festgelegt und positioniert.
Der Autor und Premierminister erzählt auch von der Vergangenheit der Araber. Dass Arabisch die „Lingua Franka“ war; dass Arabien führend in der Medizin und Mathematik war und wir westlichen Kulturen noch heute ihre Ziffern, die arabischen Ziffern verwenden.
Al Maktoum verwendet das Wort „Pionier“ für eine gesicherte Zukunft. In Internetzeiten – so meint er – verbreiten sich Ideen noch schneller (in Lichtgeschwindigkeit) und man muss noch schneller sein als früher. Er bringt den Vergleich zwischen einer Gazelle und einem Löwen: „With each new day in Africa, a gazelle wackes up knowing he must outrun the fastes lion or perish. At the same time, a lion stirs and stretches, knowing he must outrun the fastes gazelle or starve. It is no different fort he human race. Whether you consider yourself a gazelle or a lion, you simply have to run faster than others to survive.“ (Seite 12)
Unverständlich ist mir aber, warum er dem Frieden ein eigenes Kapitel widmet (Peace, Seite 188) und dann gegen die Nachbarstaaten einen Zaun mit Stacheldraht aufstellt.
Für den Autor ist nichts unmöglich: „Overcoming the impossible“ (Seite 164).
Persönlich meint er „If a man can smile to himself, it will be easy for him to smile at others.“ (Seite 147)
Die Vision wird auch in Targets, in Ziele umgesetzt:
• Steigerung des Bruttonationalprodukts um 100%
• 100% mehr individuelles Einkommen der emiratischen Einwohner
• 70% mehr Produktion
• Steigerung des Flugverkehrs von 24,7 Millionen Passagieren auf 70 Millionen. (Der neue Flughafen soll 120 Millionen Passagiere handeln können.)
Nicht klar geht aber hervor in welchem Zeitraum das passieren soll.
Auf alle Fälle ein Buch eines Leaders, der sein Land liebt, auch wenn es sehr propagandistisch und populärwissenschaftliche geschrieben ist.
