Executive Impulse

Rate this book

Still reeling from a recent divorce and sworn off men, Det. Second Class Kate Flynn takes an evening jog and discovers a body in the park with no ID, wearing a sleek Armani suit.

Meanwhile, former journalist Andrew Wallace has written the Great American Novel but can’t sell it, so he applies for a job writing catalog copy about mechanical gadgets for the Lexa Corporation. Mistaken for a high level executive candidate who hasn’t shown up, Andrew’s hired in his place by the eccentric CEO.

Only slightly less astonishing is pushy ex-bomb squad turned homicide hot-shot Sergeant Ed Bryan’s determination to take Kate’s mysterious murder case out of her hands and get her to agree to a date. In spite of his efforts, Kate stonewalls the date and identifies the dead man. He was one Anderson Wallis Kane, a wheeling, dealing, slightly disreputable international corporate adventurer, in LA to accept a position at the Lexa Corporation.

Kate discovers he was supposed to have Andrew’s six-figure job, that Andrew hasn’t a clue what he’s doing - and that Andrew is the same man she met on an airplane and was unduly attracted to on the very day she got her Reno divorce.

Stubbornly working to solve her case her way, Kate finds her life in danger, her car sabotaged, her jogging route boobytrapped, her condo on fire. And worse still - she’s fallen in love.

I was wanting a good intriguing romance suspense filled with lots of mystery to be solved and hit the jackpot here with this novel by this author. There is nothing like a good one to grab a hold of you by the collar and not let go until you know all its secrets with the whys and who done it. Combine that with some ole fashion romance and I am one happy camper. Kate was one good detective who meets up with a guy right after her divorce with one crazy time but loses touch right after. Andrew is that guy who after decides to go for his dream to write that novel but as time goes on must let go of it and go back to work. Jogging becomes quite complicated for Kate when she stumbles on a dead body coupled with a arrogant fellow co worker who also in my book is a jerk big time is also on the case with her. The road it leads her on is right to her crazy time and the action really begins and there is a murder to be solved. Fate lands him in a crazy position as head of a company not what he started out for. When Kate walks in to question him ding ding it starts again. Working together to solve this but also someone is trying to kill Kate they have to work even more closely together. Can love overcome the obstacles also for these two who obviously love each other, obvious to everyone but Kate. Since this is a suspense do not want to reveal too much and spoil for someone else. Not easy to put done either till all the answers revealed.
