Undead in Brown County #4

The Vampire's Release

Rate this book
Her hair smelled like ripe oranges. It teased and beckoned me forward. I came to stand beside her and took one of the gently waving amber locks into my fist. Her head turned towards me, but she closed her brilliant eyes and let her lashes sweep over whatever emotion that might have been blooming inside her head. Without real intent, my fingers left her hair and touched her chin.

“Why do you close your eyes?”

“You frighten the hell out of me, Michael.”

Sarah and Michael have faced deadly challenges. He gave himself over to his worst enemy to save her life. When an old friend comes to his rescue, her methods may bring an end to the Michael that Sarah Wood has come to love. The secret to his release may give rise to a lethal monster who poses the greatest threat that Sarah has ever faced.

OK, I am confused. Is Michael a human now? How did that happen?! And this seemed completely concluded, so why are there 2 more books left in the series?

I am glad at least that the love-square seems to be over with. There was really absolutely no hope for the other two guys in this book, and Jackson seems to have all but disappeared from Sarah's mind. Its all Michael, all the time now. :)

The inconsistency with this book are SO ANNOYING .
Book one-her mother died fourteen years ago
Book 2- it was sixteen years.
Kate has black hair
Book three said it was it was long brown curls around her finger. Huh?
Sarah has brown hair.
Book 4 it was amber???

Book 4- Michael didn’t know what a bra was but was imprisoned in the 40’s. They had bras in the forties.

The book is in desperate need of rewriting and a good editor. Author needs to write timelines, appearances ect in a book to reflect on because she can’t kept up and make it so inconsistent

Theres so many more

Also not every book in the series needs a love triangle. Jackson’s love storyline was so pointless. Repeat. Not every book of the series needs to have to have a love triangle!! To be honest the whole Jackson storyline in general was pointless. He was practically absent in this book

I don’t think my mental health can handle another book which is a shame but unfortunately they kept getting worse and worse.

Vampire

Nice wrap up of all the story lines. While the story could go on a tangent this was a nice place to stop.

Ok. I am done with this series. The shifting perspectives doesn't bother me much, the author put who was "talking" at the start of each chapter. But what does bother me is the holes in the story. There was so much more that could have been written that would tie all the different events and characters and shifting perspectives together. This was a unique story line, one that I haven't seen before but I felt the author just butchered it. One glaring example - The council tested Michael's blood to see if he's been acting erratically due to having Isaiah's blood. That would explain why he got so out of control and then turned two teenagers and left a third to film him on his cell phone. There were going to be consequences if it turned out Isaiah's blood wasn't to blame. Now we all know it was but when his blood turned up clean, then what? Yes Michael had just had Alex's blood, that's why it was clean but there was no mention of that. Why did the council not have anything to say? Yes you can say they had to deal with Amanda and then Vincent. But after that? Why did they place the young twin vampires with the main character? Why mention that the main character wasn't the daughter of the woman we thought was her mother? Why did that matter to the story? Why is the main character attracted to every guy she meets? Why is it written that she suddenly befriends (and is attracted to) the guy who tried to rape her at the end of the previous book?

Could have been an intriquing story but it has holes the size of my car. Sorry S J. Wright. I love to read and I do forgive mistakes but after four books, I just have had enough. These books leaves me with more questions that what is answered.

I enjoyed this series but I felt that it could have been much better. I never really believed the relationship between Sarah and the male characters that she was linked with throughout the series. I wanted to but I felt there was no depth to them.
Apart from that the only other problem I had was the constant jumping of the story. one minute someone was missing and the next Michael had found them and they were safe. What happened? How did he find them? How did he stop the bad guys? So many scenes that would have been exciting and captivating were missing, as if part of the book lost. The ending especially felt like that.

Could have been fantastic, but with what I felt were key scenes that were needed and more depth to the characters romantic relationships missing, I would have to say interesting story and plot... but lacking the magic that takes you out of your own world and into that of the storyteller.

Since I read this after reading book 3, it made a lot more sense to me than the 18 months between book 2 and 3.

Anyway, I'm glad that Sarah finally made her mind up and chose Michael, he'd always cared for her so for them to end up together has made me happy for them. Team Michael!

As for the rest, everything that had been building up over the previous three books was brought to a head in this and we see the final showdown with the Council and some of the other Vampires. I'm glad a lot of it fell on the good guys side.

If you're going to read this, you should read them as closely together as possible to get the full affect of the story.

I've seen the author is planning on a fifth book, but I think the series has ended well enough without it so I don't think I'll read it if it does come out.

Ok I didnt want to say anything before I have all the information but now that I have I can say that Sarah is a slutty mega slut!!And this is not my jealously talking. At the second book she has sex with Alex(yeap!she does!!)After that she has remorses and changes her mind and wants Michael. Before Michael is captured she falls for the ass-human that almost rape her but she has sex with Michael. And when Michael reappears she decides that Michael is the one but after talking with Nelly she changes(again)her mind and doesnt want him. She changes her mind after 2-3 pages. Yeap!Mega slut. She remindes me of Zoe Redbird from House of Night...She is a mega slut too.

Besides that the book was very good and if it wasnt for my anxiety to read the end as quickly as possible I might have cried.....

I loved the ending of this book. I was happy for everyone involved. Though, I hope the story continues. I would love to know what problems Jackson could cause for vampires. What made him choose the vampire that he did and why did he do it? With so many enemies still out there for Michael, could he really be happy the way that they want to be? I sure hope so but it opens up lots of trials! Well, if she wants to write about them anyway.

I was glad that Alex was in the story more and I loved how he acted in it. I do have questions about the link between Katie and Selena and Alex. But I can't wait for the next one, if there is one.

So glad this came out this week!!! I finished the third book and got on the author's website to see of it told a publication date for this one. To my great surprise it had come out this week!!! So happy.
The whole series is a quick read and catches you right away. I could not imagine this book ending any more perfect. I'm very happy with it. If the author chose to she could go on more in other areas or bring up more drama but, she can just leave it the way it is. I would ALWAYS LOVE for her to keep going of course!!!

This is such a good series & I am more than thrilled to find out who Sarah ended up with and the extreme happiness that would become of the couple after so much drama. Katie, Alex, Michael & Jackson all brought an equal amount of insanity to Sarah's plate and after all the hardship happiness became. I loved these books but I am a little sad about how short everything was. The four books could have easily been one decent size but I guess that doesn't bring in the money. Good series and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Ok, well, Sarah redeemed herself to me in this one, which is what I was looking for. She was by no means my favorite person in the last 3 books. But in this one she morphed into what resembled someone I could see Michael actually liking, let alone loving. And she chose the right person to be with. Good story, and this book pretty much wrapped up loose ends. The ending was warm and fuzzy, so I am happy.

Love it! I thought that some of the other books in the series dragged a bit in a few places and weren't fleshed out enough in others but this one was great. Good action and drama with the right amount of romance. Kept me captive the whole way through. I felt like this might be the last in the series but Wright did a good job of leaving it just open-ended enough for a possible spin-off. I highly recommend this book but would suggest reading the previous ones first.

Ok this was better than #2 and #3. It was longer. From beginning to end it's not a bad series...BUT...I think the Author could've taken this story in so many directions. Could've made it more deeper..... I like the twists on the vampire story line, with the warden thing...BUT again, more depth would've been nice. I DID NOT LIKE PAYING $2.99 FOR #2 AN #3 FOR JUST 80 SOMETHING PAGES!!!! THAT DID TICK ME OFF AND IF I HAD KNOWN HOW MANY PAGES THERE WERE TO THEM....I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THEM!!!!!

The series should have ended here. I'm only giving 3 stars because the books are so short and I feel like these could have been combined into 1 large book or at least made into a trilogy.

It's not a bad series, but it could be better. Due to the reviews of the next 2 books, i'm choosing not to buy them (at this time). I'm thinking I want to make my own ending for Sara and Michael, which is to say a HEA ending.

Omg!! I couldn't have been more pleased!! The point of view changes were timed perfectly. A lot of events keep you hooked in. Every situation is resolved or answered. Well mine were anyways. Loved loved loved this series. Highly recommended. For a romance series, not overly sappy or too sexy. Just cant say enough good things about this series!!!

I'm glad to see that Michael got what he wanted...as did Sarah. I would have liked to have seen more develop between Sarah and Michael in previous books because most of the time it was her and Alex. Overall, though I really liked this series and would be excited to see if the series expands with the other characters. I also liked that it took place in Indiana. :)

Somethings at the end were left unsaid. It's like you have to assume what happened to Jackson.
I really didn't like so many point of views throughout this series. Half the time it jumped around, repeated itself or was left unfinished like in Jackson's case.

Still good enough to keep me reading all the way to book 4 and still wanting to read book 5.

Finished all 4 books of the series in a week. Loved them! Very easy read, good flow, good story line. I liked the way the author concluded the series, it has room to develop other characters into an additional series, or is fine left as is.

If you want a quick read the books in this series might interest you. You will need to buy all 4 books to appreciate the full story. All 4 are short so you could possibly get all ready in one to two days. I wanted more incite into the supporting characters they weren't fully explained for me.

Good - but I still had questions at the end... Would love to see a follow-up and see what happens to Jackson and Alex... And the girls - could they become human and have the chance to grow up?
