Blue Eyes Trilogy #1

The Legend of the Blue Eyes

Rate this book
Arianna Grace liked her boring, Midwestern, teenage life where she ignored the many unanswered questions of her childhood. Why were her parents dead? Why did she not have family? Where was she raised until she was five? When someone offers to explain it all, Arianna thinks she’s just getting answers. Instead, she is thrown into a world of night humans who drink blood.

On Arianna's sixteenth birthday, her world is thrown upside down when she changes into a vampire. Night humans, or demons, as some call them, live in normal society. Learning all of the new rules of a world she didn’t know existed might be hard enough, but it's further complicated by two former-friends that now want to help her take her role as the successor to her grandfather.

There is a war going on between the night humans. Sides have been taken and lines are not crossed. Four main clans of night humans are struggling for control of the night. Divided into two sides, clans Baku and Tengu have been at war for centuries with the clans Dearg-dul and Lycan. That is, until Arianna Grace finds out the truth; she’s the bridge of peace between the two sides. But not everyone wants peace. With the night humans divided, Arianna is now a pawn in the war between them. She must choose a side—her mother’s family or her father’s—and for once in her life, decide her own fate.

Okay! WOW! This novel is amazing!! I'm surprised at just how much I enjoyed reading this novel!

The Legend of the Blue Eyes is the first novel in the trilogy and let me tell you, its worth a read! B. Kristin McMichael has a new and original take on Vampires and the Vampire World. Divided into clans the Vampires or rather "night humans" are at war and Arianna(main character) is the only hope of uniting them. Arianna is an captivating character, she's sweet, kind, and strong. Of all the characters in this book, I really liked Devin! He was tough, deep and complicated. He's a fierce warrior who has his own secrets and duties to Arianna and the world of the night humans.

The Legend of the Blue Eyes has a great story-line and the characters are so lovable, fun and in a sense made the book come alive. Overall, it's a captivating story with romance and danger, and I really think this novel will develop into something great, I cannot wait to see what happens in the next novel! I highly recommend it!

The Legend of the Blue Eyes was good. I liked it. But if I'm being honest it's not something I would pick up again.

Basically the entire book is about Arianna being doted upon by almost every young male she comes into contact with. Very little focus is on the actual plot, which is the legend. While I do recognize that this is the first in a series and therefore more of an introduction rather than a continuation of a plot, I felt more time needed to be spent on progressing.

Instead, the only progression we get is her kissing Devin, then Turner, then Andrew. Then Thomas comes into the picture, who she hasn't kissed yet, but I'm willing to bet that it's coming soon. I know virtually nothing about Jackson and Micah and yet I liked them because they weren't fawning all over this girl that really hasn't done anything to deserve all the praise. Yes, she's pure blood, but that's genetic. Her best character trait is that she's not snooty about sharing her blood. And the fact that this is such a small part of the book just doesn't make me think she's anything special, especially not to have all these guys falling at her feet at the slightest whim.

Also, why is no one embarrassed about her unbuttoning all of their shirts in random public places? I get it, she needs to hear a heartbeat, but you don't need to get topless to do that.

I don't know. I didn't dislike it, but I wasn't really impressed either. I wanted to skim through a lot of the whole "Devin is so calm all the time but I like Turner because he's carefree" paragraphs.

What I did like was the relationship between her grandfather and her great uncle, and I wish the prejudices of the two different races would have been played up more. I also really loved the transformations! They weren't grotesque (which I didn't expect anyway) but the changes were radical enough that a change was actually noticeable. I think this is a great way to distance the book from other vampire books out there, where they still look human and don't change at all. With the exception of being ridiculously gorgeous of course.

Edit: it's not clear who Thomas is. I can assume he's the tengu, but that's never actually told to us.

Edit 2: The baby talk while she was drunk on blood was downright annoying. She doesn't want to be treated like a child and then proceeds to act like one.

One more thing: I counted at least 5 instances where the sentence went like this:
"But," Arianna complained. (It got to the point where it was a bit distracting for me. I'm probably the only one that noticed, but hey. Just thought I'd mention it)

Put away all your preconceived notions about Vampires. This novel will blow you away, and just may invite you back into your previous love of the supernatural. [If you’ve left it, of course] I’m the type that puts certain genre books on the ‘back burner’ at times, because I get sick of the same repetition with different characters and different authors. Then there is that ONE novel that comes along and just sucks you right back into it all again. THIS is that novel. So, I’d like to give a huge thank you to B. Kristin, for reminding me why I love the paranormal world.

B. Kristin McMichael. I have four words just for you. I stinkin’ love you. You blew me away with your first novel, To Stand Beside Her. I couldn’t imagine that your next novel, of which is a completely different genre could be so amazing. [Ok, Yes I did] The Legend of the Blue Eyes was phenomenal. I’m always nervous when I go into a “vampire” novel, but I loved your last book so much I HAD to give this one a try. Once again, you’ve broken the writing mold, this time in the supernatural realm.

I was completely in a trance, from the beginning to the end. . Everything about this book is so VIVID. The imagery was simply brilliant and the characters were just perfect. Arianna, makes you fall in love with her right away. She’s just adorable, while feeling everything that is happening to her as if you are the one writing the story. As most books go, there’s usually a love interest. In this novel.. there is 2. However, it’s not the everyday run of the mill love triangle. Oh no, no, no. Devin [He’s mine, BACK OFF!] is astonishing. Devin is thoughtful, deep, stern and a damn sexy protector! Yes… I may go crazy with my book boyfriends sometimes, but this boy just pulls on all the right strings to your heart. Then there’s Turner, I want to call dibs on him too, but I’ll be fair.

Ok I’ll admit, I went into this knowing it was a trilogy and knowing that there is going to be more to this story makes me ecstatic. Everything about this novel is pure genius, from the different types of Night Humans [Vampires, Werewolves, etc.], to the feuds between them, and the general flow of events.

The Legend of the Blue Eyes is overall a fantastic read with a new spin on the world of the Night Humans. The story feels natural, not forced, and I think that this series will really develop into something great. I can’t wait to see what happens in the future for Arianna, and especially my Devin<3. So much so, I just want to delve more into the story and completely immerse myself in B. Kristin’s writing. I’m serious, I want to bask in her words.
Go. Read this. Right MEOW.

Amazon freebies are so often a case of hit or miss. I have found quite a few that have really shocked me, often for different reasons. Some shock me because I cannot contemplate why the book is free, as it deserves to be something everyone is reading; some shock me because I cannot contemplate why they have such high ratings and followings.

The Legend of Blue Eyes was supposed to be the first. It had such promise. I’d read a number of decent reviews. Unfortunately, it turned out the book was not to be one of those surprising gems.

Personally, I had expected so much more. The concept is wonderful, and had it been done correctly it would have been a wonderful book. There was such promise, I had such high hopes, only to be let down exceptionally quickly.

From the start, I found it difficult to get into this book. I kept telling myself it would get better, but by the time I’d reached the halfway point I found myself unable to carry on. I hate it when I’m unable to finish books, I try so hard to finish them, but every so often it happens. Such is what happened here: I kept pushing myself, but in the end my interest had dissipated completely and my ability to force myself to continue caved in.

Part of it was the writing. Things seemed far too chunky. Things were repetitive. This repetitiveness is in terms of both interactions and information. Every other chapter things seemed to be highlighted again, pointlessly. I found myself sighing when things were repeated, and yet I wasn’t finding out what I wanted to know. In fact, part of the reason why I carried on for so long was because I was hoping to receive the information I was waiting for, but even that didn’t hold out for long – I was no longer interested because I’d given up with the characters.

That’s the second part of the issue: the characters. I just couldn’t bring myself to like anyone. Everyone seemed overly flat. The main character annoyed me. All the males seemed far too happy to do everything and anything for her, bending over backwards for the littlest of things. She was a special snowflake and everyone wanted to do something for her, meaning she did nothing of interest at all.

I just couldn’t deal with it and because of this I couldn't bring myself to finish it. I kept telling myself I'd read more in the hope it would get better, but it didn't...

It's been a few months since I've read a YA paranormal. I MISSED YOU!!! The Legend of the Blue Eyes is an intriguing tale about night humans. It's nice to read a books that doesn't refer to them as vampires and werewolves and all the classes of night humans have different names. It was exciting to read about each of them; what their powers were, what they need to survive and some of their weaknesses. The main character Arianna can't remember her life before she was taken in by her aunt and uncle. She has many unanswered questions about her life before and can't seem to get any answers. Soon enough she finds out she's not quite human and her whole life has not been what she believed. I'm glad she isn't one of those characters that whines about her newfound heritage and powers. Yes, she's a little hesitant at first, but who wouldn't be. Character growth is absolutely essential for me when reading and Arianna proves to be worthy.

As far as the romance goes, I thought it would be another teeny bopper love triangle. Oddly enough it works for me. For her kind it's completely acceptable to have multiple "keepers." I'm trying so hard to keep this spoiler free so I'll leave it at that. I will tell you that she's better behaved than I would be. Turner can call me anytime LOL.

The world building is phenomenal! It kept me glued to the pages, wondering what would happen next. I couldn't help but love all of these characters. The book does end with a few unanswered questions, which is totally fine by me. What good would a series be if it's left with a satisfactory ending anyway? You've got to leave em hanging!!

Four stars

Other worldly creatures and a reverse harem is my new "count me in" quota. I liked this book, I've seen a lot of complaints in the reviews which for the most part I disagree with. For one, There are so many different characters, paranormal types and events that it's really impressive that the author was able to build the story in such a way. I will say that yes, the relationships with each guy were a bit underdeveloped but I hope that in the second and third book it gets better from here.

The Legend of the Blue Eyes was a terrific book, a bit shaky at the start, but it quickly became solid. Arianna is a 15 year old girl who has her life turned upside down in the matter of minutes. She has to come to grips with who and what she is quickly, and meet her real family all on her birthday. Basically, Ari is one of a kind and everyone wants a piece of her, whether to protect or destroy her. Devin is Ari's bodyguard and keeper, even though he's only 17. She has to rely on him to make it through her new world and to simply stay alive. Ari also has keepers, people whom protect and keep her alive, which you meet throughout the book. There's an interesting dynamic between Ari and her "keepers", and between the keepers themselves. The Legend of the Blues Eyes is now officially my favorite YA book. I loved Ari, Andrew,Turner, Thomas and Devin on occasion;).

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal).

Let me first start by saying there are a lot of Y.A. Supernatural books on the market. McMichael sets her world apart from the others by creating a main character that you believe. Arianna is an average young woman, raised as an average teenager until her 16th Birthday reveals that she isn’t quite like all the others around her. If I had to compare it to something, I would call it Princess Diaries meets Supernatural.

The story touches on themes present in some other Supernatural YA: loyalty, trust, romance, teenage love, feuding clans, and ancient power struggles. McMichael uses these as tools to tell her story and surround the main character with many of the same choices as a YA audience. Although one of the readers may not be caught in a power struggle between two houses, the average sixteen year old feels every decision is a major life decision. Readers will relate to the fast paced world and see the world set before them through Arianna’s eyes.

I was half way through the book when I secretly wished for a second book. I wanted more words and more characters to help me immerse myself in the world McMichael created. I enjoy character driving story telling. McMichael creates a world where all act according to their natures. The story feels natural, not forced, and is the first of a trilogy that I look forward to reading.

This was a really interesting book. I particularly liked the concept of the four night humans - dearg-dul, baku, lycan and tengu. Unfortunately, a lot of the novel is dedicated to Arianna, the main character, being doted on and kissed by various boys, rather than on the plot, which was the interesting aspect of this novel. I still don't know what the legend of the blue eyes is, but I don't know if I want to read the second book to find out.

Arianna has four boys surrounding her; Devin, Turner, Andrew and Thomas. I personally found Turner the most interesting and fleshed out with actual characterisation. Devin, while I liked him at the beginning, simply devolved into "I'm protecting you because of your grandfather" and became a relatively boring character. Andrew and Thomas only came in near the end so while Arianna has already kissed Andrew, we know barely anything about him. Thomas is motivated by a family debt so maybe kissing won't be occurring for him in the near future?

I did really like the friendship between Lord Randolph and Gabriel. I did prefer Gabriel of the two, but I thought they were both interesting and I wish that more of the book had delved into their friendship, the war between the dearg-dul and the Baku and why that made Arianna so special.

I absolutely could not put this book down!! (Hence the 5:22 a.m. review!) FIVE STARS without a doubt to what will become one of my top favorite YA PNR series!

Being a teenager is never easy for anyone, but Arianna will soon realize that "she" is not your everyday anyone... The daughter of the paranormal version of Romeo and Juliet - a young girl who felt that she never truly belonged will begin to not only find her true self, but the strength and power that many covet, and some despise. She is a legend that has only been whispered about, and the hope (of her two remaining living relatives) that will finally unite the Night Human community.

Romance, danger and realizing that the future may hold more than you ever thought possible... I am anxiously awaiting June and the next chapter in Arianna's tale....

Wowwowowowowow, I mean wow. This book blew me away. From the minute I skimmed the first couple of pages, I was hooked and racing through it.

The Legend of the Blue Eyes has my favorite kind of character, a strong amazing and legend-worthy heroine. Arianna is definitely one of my all-time favorite characters!

I thought it would really bother me, having her love all of her boys, but I actually don't mind because they are all equally awesome...although I do feel partial to Devin <3

I loved Gabriel, Lilly and Dean and even Lord Randolph *tear* and loved that they still kept her two best friends in play even after she turned.

I can't wait to see what the second book will hold, I want to read it NOWWWWWW!

Definitely a fantastic read, very very recommended!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the “Lovers of Paranormal” Group on Goodreads.com and the Author.

Once I started reading I could not put this book down. The night human world the author created was different then any book I have read. The characters of Arianna, Devin and Turner are great. On her 16th birthday Arianna is thrown into a world that she could never possibly imagine and she discovers that her entire life has been a lie. She finds herself in the middle of a war that has been going on for centuries. The story is well written and captivating. I can't wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this book.

I have read this before a long time ago. It is a well written and well thought out story. Ariannas world changes suddenly and everything she thought she knew is not as she thought! Thrust into a new world she is learning what she is, picking up friends along the way. Full of drama I love this story and am about to read book two again, I have recommended this story before and I still recomend it

For this review and more visit Diary of a Wimpy Teen Girl

WHOA. This book was so good and intriguing, but yet so different and bizarre that my mouth is still hanging open.. XD

Arianna, a typical teenager, finds out that she is a vampire, and not a typical vampire either. She is a both a purebred Baku and a purebred Dearg-dul - two different vampire species that don't get along with each other.
Apparently, Arianna is the most powerful night human alive and many people want her hurt. That's why she was surrounded her whole life by her PPU - a group of people that were assigned to protect her. Arianna finds out that everyone in her life, including her friends, knew about her being a vampire and never told her a word about it.
While Arianna is trying to get used to her life as a vampire and to discover her special abilities, she finds herself in the middle of an ancient war between the Dearg-dul and the Baku. Which side will she choose, if any? And how can she stay alive when so many people want her dead?

First of all, I have to say that the author had some really original ideas about vampires. In this book, vampires rarely need to kill for blood. Each vampire has a least one Keeper - a human or a night human who is fully controlled by the vampire and provides him with blood. The weird thing is that so many people wanted to be Arianna's Keepers!! That was more than a little twisted. Who wants to be a walking blood fridge?!?
Arianna was surrounded all the time by guys who were more than happy to let her drink their blood as much as she wanted, so she never had to hunt or anything.

Talking about guys - the romance in this book was my favorite part of the book! I know that many people dislike love triangles and I have to agree that recently there are way too much of them in YA books. But it this book, there wasn't a love triangle. There was something else, something I've never seen before - a love PENTAGON. Yeah, I know it sounds weird, but think about it - 4 swoony guys in one book!! And they didn't even hate each other. They worked together to protect and help Arianna. I was so jealous :X
It's hard for me to decide which guy I liked best... I think it would be Turner. Turner understood exactly what bothered Arianna and always found a way to cheer her up and help her. He encouraged her to think for herself and to stop following orders all the time. It was really heartwarming to see how he loved her and how he would give up anything for her. ♥

Arianna herself wasn't a very good character. She was quite passive and always let the guys around her fight for her. Well, I can't blame her... If I had 4 guys around my who were willing to do anything for me, I would have done the same! Arianna was the type of girl that follows orders. She didn't think enough for herself. There were parts when the guys put her to SLEEP while they were fighting. I was expecting Arianna to be much more kick-ass, but she wasn't... I hope she'll find more courage in the next books. XP

This book was very good and hooked me from the beginning. I will probably pick up the next book because I really want to know how the plot continues!!

This review and others can be found on my blog She Has A Knack For It.

The Legend of the Blue Eyes by B. Kristin McMichael. It is the first book in The Blue Eyes Trilogy. I received a copy of this book for free in return for my honest review, through the Never Too Old For Y.A. Books Group on Goodreads. However, I received a copy of the through through Smashwords using a special coupon code from the author. This in no way effects my final review of this book.

In the Acknowledgements the author thanks her husband for pushing her to go further with this novel. It would seem she originally wrote it two months before Twilight came out. We all know how that went down with crazed girls, sparkly vampires, and a slew of similar books. So, before we go into what I thought of the book, I just want to thank the author for listening to her husband and taking a chance in publishing this book.

Aah, the world/creature building in this book is wonderful! I love the four different types of night humans the author came up with. We all know about vampires, lycans, and the such, but Mrs. McMichael manages to put her own unique spin on them. I will admit the whole warring races in this book, did remind me a little of Underworld, but I was okay with that.

Basically, you have this "hidden" world filled with four different races of night humans, that live among us regular folks. You have the Dearg-duls, who are basically vampires. They need to feed on blood and are sensitive to sunlight, mostly between the hours of 10am-2pm. The Lycans or werewolves who are sided with the Dearg-duls. They look a little different than other versions of werewolves that we know. They can travel during the day time. Then there are the Baku, who can only fully manifest at night. They turn into these big pale creatures with long hair. In my head I picture a cross between the Castithan and Biomen on the Syfy show Defiance. Aligned with them are the Tengu. They are a night human with bat like wings. Both the Dearg-duls and the Baku need blood to survive and the Lycans and the Tengu are more of raw meat eaters. The disagreement between races originally started over their food sources.

Now poor Arianna, on her sixteenth birthday gets thrown into this whole mess. She never really knew a whole lot about her parents, but it appears they had a whole Romeo and Juliet type of relationship going on. At the age of sixteen she manifests as a vampire or Dearg-dul, but that's not all she is...What side will she ultimately chose?

I really liked this book. I'm actually quite sad that the author didn't manage to get this published BEFORE Twilight. Mrs. McMichael's world is so much richer and intriguing than the one Stephenie Meyer's created. I would rather see young adults read this book over that one. While Arianna does tend to get rescued in this book I can see her coming into her own in future books and being more than able to take care of herself and even do some of her own rescuing (of herself and others).

I look forward to reading the rest of this trilogy and recommend that you check it out too!

4.5 STARS!!!

This book was very hit and miss with me. In some ways it was so incredibly good that it just sucked me right in, and in others I was so annoyed and frustrated that I wanted to slap the main character right across the freaking face!
This book follows 16 year old Arianna Grace while she discovers who and what she really is. While the story was interesting enough, the side stories that kept going on were really diverting from the main story which is the Legend of the Blue eyes, which was never really touched on.
Another thing that really bothered me about this book was how unrealistic it was, which I know is stupid since this is about a girl that finds out she's half vampire and half demon, but I mean really? She is kidnapped three times in one day and just shrugs it off like it's nothing. She finds out that literally EVERYONE that she has basically ever met has lied to her face, and not about little things like if that shirt looks good on her but I mean about really really big stuff, and she had no problem forgiving all of them for their lies. I think a normal 16 year old girl wouldn't be so quick to forgive such a colossal lie. I know I wouldn't be. She also has basically no problem with being kept out of the loop with no one explaining anything to her about this "Legend" that she is apparently involved in but instead given a pat on the head and told "later" over and over like someone trying to placate a small child. She now has no freedom in her new life and is being followed everywhere she goes. I'm surprised she was able to go to the bathroom by herself.
Another thing that really irked me was that she basically falls in love with every guys that smiles at her. I mean Devin, Turner, AND Andrew??? I mean come on, how many guys does one girl need? And all these boys are just happy to share her with everyone?? I don't think so.
Sorry this review is becoming more of a rant, but just bare with me.
The story itself had the potential to be SO good and in many ways I did enjoy the story but there were so many things wrong here that I had the hardest time seeing past them. And Arianna, aside from being unreasonably chill and forgiving, she was also so freaking dumb!! I mean they had to explain things to her 4 or 5 times and she still didn't understand. And she really was like a pampered princess that was just kept in a tiny little bubble and treated like a magic unicorn.
Like I said the book had major potential and I enjoyed being along for the ride (or for most of it). Would I read it again? Probably not? Would I recommend it to a friend? Also no. But I don't regret reading it either. I know that the two star rating is really low, but I dont feel that it was strong enough to have three stars. I've enjoyed this little glimpse into Arianna's world, but I believe this book is the end of the road for me.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This book is yet another example of why goodreads needs to give me the half star. This is a very solid 3.5 star book. The author did a fantastic job of world building in the book. The characters are well thought out and the plot moves at a nice pace.

This is the story of Arianna an orphan who is raised by her Aunt and Uncle in average small town. Everything in Arianna’s life is pretty normal -until it isn’t. She quickly finds out that her heritage is a bit more complicated than she has believed. Her parents were from the head families of feuding vampire races. She is thrust into the middle of a world that she doesn’t even begin to comprehend on her 16th birthday when her transformation from human to night human (the preferred term for supernaturals in this world) begins.

Arianna is given a protection team because, being the heir to two prominent families, she is a prime target for assassination. As it turns out a large number of the people in her life are other supernatural beings that have been watching over her. She is often led around by her team because she has no idea what is going on in her life.

I did have a few issues with this book. The first of which is that Arianna seems practically narcoleptic. She falls asleep at least once every other chapter if not every chapter. The given explanation for this is that she does not know how to use her power properly so she exhausts herself often. Because there is a plausible reason for her constant passing out I note it as a minor annoyance instead of major flaw. The other issue I take is that this girl must have some serious pheromones going on. Every male character around her age is madly in love with her and would do anything to protect her based on very short periods of interaction with her.

As the plot progresses we find out that Arianna is at the center of a prophecy that will dramatically impact the supernatural world. Neither the reader nor Arianna finds out what the prophecy actually is in this book.

The world building done by the author is very well thought out. She has created a world with four prominent races of night humans who are similar but still very different. I am eager to find out more about this world and the characters in it.

This is a very solid novel and I definitely suggest picking it up if you get the chance.

I received a free copy of this ebook in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Can I give this zero stars? This was so painful to read. The only reason I didn't make it a DNF is because I always finish a book. I kept hoping for this to get better and it just didn't happen.

At sixteen years old, Arianna discovers she's a vampire. Or, to put it correctly, half dearg-dul and half baku (two different species of 'Night Humans', a name I can't take seriously). While the premise of the different species and their war was interesting, the actually story telling really let it down.

From the get go, Arianna was pushed as being an absolute pleasure whom everyone loved and wanted to take care of. Despite being a teenager, she never ever complained about the fact that she had no living family and that she was kind of poor - something extremely unrealistic if you ask me, a little but of grumbling is perfectly natural. Ariana is just too sickly sweet. She was small in stature and constantly reminded of it. She was far too much of a prim and perfect Mary-Sue for my taste. Her characteristics were far too perfect for me, and they made her very hard to relate to. I found her pretty pathetic.

I felt like there were a lot of inconsistencies with this book. I also felt like every new chapter was basically a rehash of the one before it with a few more details, the same story was played out again and again as Arianna found one more guy that miraculously had loved her since she was a child. It became really boring. I also thought it really convenient that not of the score of men she had trailing after her portrayed no jealousy whatsoever at the fact they had to share her with four other guys because that's just how it is. I honestly felt like nothing happened in this entire book except Arianna feeding and sleeping, that's it. Oh, and her being mollycoddled by pretty much every single person she met. There was zero action, and pretty much zero of anything of any worth....

Whatever it was about this book, it just didn't work for me at all. The only thing it resulted in doing was to put me in a bad mood and want me to take a big leap back from fantasy for a while. I have never ever been tempted to put down a book more than when I reading this...and this is coming from someone who managed to make it through Fifty Shades of Grey.

The Legend of the Blue Eyes, is a very unique spin on the usual YA/NA vampire books. In the beginning, we meet Arianna who, as far as we know, is a normal girl. She also believes she is normal and lives a normal, mundane life. For her sixteenth birthday, she's told that she'll be going on a trip but isn't told where, or any other details. The night before she's to leave with her aunt and uncle, she's abducted and taken to see an uncle she didn't know she had. She finds out that people are looking for her and there's a big mystery as to why. Finally, we find out that she's actually a vampire-like creature called a dearg-dul. She's also half baku which, in the book, are two of four kinds of 'night humans', that have been feuding for centuries.

Arianna is taken to her grandfather's house where she finds out that she's a very special night human. The reason people are after her, is because there's a legend about a night human that has blue eyes. All night humans' eyes turn an amber-brown when they turn. Arianna's eyes stay a bright blue.

I enjoyed this book but I did feel that it dragged in a few places. I would've liked to learn more about the other night humans and the legend. I also would've liked to read more about the history of the families, and the romance and death of Arianna's parents. Arianna also seems a little on the self-centered side after going to her grandfather's, where, in the beginning, she was very giving and helped people even when it wasn't expected of her. I feel that this may be a reaction to her turning but there's really not a lot of information about these changes. I'm keeping an open mind about this fact since Arianna is a sweet, kind girl and am chalking it up to her being confused.

The characters and events in the book are exciting, and I'm really looking forward to reading more about the other night humans and Arianna. This is the first book in a series, with the second hopefully coming out this summer (2013). It seems like it's going to be an interesting series and B. Kristin McMichael seems like she's going to be an author who's going places.

Arianna thinks her boring life is all there is. But on her sixteenth birthday she discovers that there is more to her life than she ever knew, more to the world than she ever knew. Not only does she discover that Vampires and Werewolves exist, but she discovers that she is a vampire. As she is thrown into the world of the night humans, not only does she struggle with the fact that she is a vampire, but that she is the stuff of Legend!

In Legend of the Blue Eyes we are given a new glimpse into the world of the vampire and werewolf, with B. Kristin McMichaels unique spin, branding them night humans. Divided into clans the night humans are at war and Arianna is the only hope of uniting them. I will say that Arianna is an interesting character. Overall I like her, she was sweet, kind natured, strong and a bit pig headed, but I'm not sure there was really anything to make her that memorable. I think she was too quick to trust and definitely too quick to fall in love. I enjoyed the connections that she made, but the fact that it was literally love at first sight kind of bothered me.

Of all the characters in this book, I enjoyed Devin the most. He was tough, deep and complicated. In Legend of the Blue Eyes he is a fierce warrior who has his own secrets and duties to Arianna and the world of the night humans.

There is a lot going on in this story, so it moves a little fast and I felt as if the story was a little rushed. I really wish that more time was spent developing the characters and their relationships. But despite all that, I did enjoy the story. It was quick to read and easy to get lost in, but there were quite a few editing problems, but really nothing so bad that it distracted me from the story being told.

Overall, Legend of the Blue Eyes is a fun read with a new spin on the world of the vampire. I think that this series can really develop into something great and I will definitely keep an eye on what happens in the future for Arianna.

I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.

Firstly I would like to thank B. Kristin McMicchael, author of The Legend of the Blue Eyes, for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this awesome book.

Here we meet Arianna, whose life changes completely on her 16th Birthday when she turns into one of a kind of Night Humans aka vampires. She was oblivious to this fact for long sixteen years and didn’t know the history of her parents as well. She is a hybrid as her parents were two different kinds of Vamps and now she is drawn within a dangerous war of power between four different kinds of night humans (two of the types on one side and the other two on the rival side).

Wow! What a whirlwind experience. This book is awesome and I loved every bit of it. To be honest I got attracted towards this book based on the cover only and thought that this will be another Twilight sidekick but Oh-My-God, I’ve never been so wrong in my life before. This book is totally different than Twilight and though I liked Twilight but the other author used the same plot so many times that I can’t stand that same plot again but don’t worry this book is really unique. Want an example? Well the Dearg-dulls (one kind of vamp) and the Lycans (a kind of werewolves) teams up together in this deadly battle. That’s new, right? I mean Vamps and Weres together and that too without any force from the damsel in distress.

I really loved it thoroughly because it has power-packed action, revelations of secrets, self-discovery, ancient wars, power hungry night humans, Vamps and Weres, unexpected twists and turns and pulse rising mystery. The writing style of the author is smooth and comfy and I quickly got attached with the well flourished characters and with the well planned out plot. Go for it guys and you wouldn’t regret it, I bet!

Omg!!! This book was sooo amazing that I could NOT put it down! The reading was easy and fluid, I didn't have to stop and re-read. I love the neat new touches the author used in lieu of the same old boring terms for werewolf, vampire, etc. This started out having even me wonder what the heck was going on just as the main character was. I love the explanation of the family and how everything happened. I have been trying to win this book forever and when this opportunity came up I was EXHILARATED! I love the characters relations with each other and just loved the whole feeling of the book. One part that I did become confused on was this character named Thomas at the end. Where did he come from and who is he?? Anyway, lovely writing, great introduction to these new terms. I can NOT WAIT for the next book to come out!!!! B. Kristin McMichael You are a great storyteller and a wonderful weaver of words!

LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!

I would just like to thank the author
1- for giving me the book to review
2- For writing this book in the first place.
I was keen to read this after reading To Stand Beside Her and fell in love with the way the author creates a story and she didn't fail with this book either - i was captivated and entranced throughout the book. It carried a perfect balance of everything that the author introduced to the story. It takes a talented writer to absorb me into the story and thats exactly what happened.
With chapter one she had my intrigued
By chapter 2 I was getting excited thinking 'what on earth?' (I hadn't read the blurb, I went into this book blind)
Bu the end of chapter 3 I couldn't put it down.
I loved that it was a different from the usual books with vampires etc and was filled with a suspense and drama that had me eagerly turning page after page.
I would highly recommend everyone to read this book! I know I will be telling all my friends to read it!

I received this book for an honest review.

This book had me from the synopsis, I loved the cover. I think B. Kristin McMichael got everything right with this book. This is the first book by this author that I have read, I don't think it will be the last. the pace and flow was just right for me. I read it in one sitting.

Our story starts with Arianna Grace, who lives with her aunt and uncle because her parents were murdered. She has the same routine every Friday night when she meets her friends at the cinemas. When Ari starts getting notes attached to the bottom of her cup at the cinema she is intrigued, as it mentions her parents. Ari is then taken into a world she never knew existed, where she has to quickly has to adapt to survive.

I loved all the characters in this book especially Ari, Devin, Turner even Andrew. The only one I didn't like was Andrew's uncle. the descriptions about the story made you feel like you could see the picture clearly.

I cant wait to read Becoming a Legend(Book 2 of the Blue Eyes Legend)

Great book!
I loved that there was more that one paranormal being in the story! Vampires, Lycans, Demons oh my!
Arianna's character is truly someone you can connect with because she is that shining light of a girl in a world of hard night humans. Ari is just trying to find her place in this new world which is hard when you are only getting some of the pieces needed with Devin and her grandfather trying to keep her safe. I thought all the characters were great and had a hard time putting the book down! Love Devin, my favorite character, even if he is always emotionally cut off from the world just the little bit he shows is enough. The story kept me entertained the whole way through with ups and downs and plenty of obstacles to overcome, never a dull moment. I already started the second book Becoming the Legend and its is great so far, I am really enjoying this series!!
