Rax Wrathbone is the dirty rock star you love to hate. The filthy fantasy slithering through your bed sheets. The serpent in your lady garden. The snake bite in your panties that keeps you sweating all night. He. Is. Sex.

And he’s no good. For anyone.

After a nasty breakup with his best friend and their band’s drummer, Rax is flying solo for the first time in years. Who needs the drama of commitment when the line for your humping booth spans three city blocks? No, groupies and liquor are far finer company than relationships, and they don’t leave bruises after they’ve had their way with you. At least not lasting ones.

Rax’s new adventures as an alcoholic, guitar-slashing one-man show are going along swimmingly until the only woman who’s ever brought him to his knees shimmies down a pole back into his life. Eve doesn’t abide excessive drinking, she has sex with strangers for a living, and she can’t remember Rax’s name to save her life.

She’s perfect in every way.

Now, if he could just get sober long enough to forget his past and convince Eve he’s worthy of her future…

**2.5 Drunk stars**

This review may be spoilerish. Proceed with caution. Rant may have been added as well.

Rax Wrathbone had a fight and a break up with one of his band mates; his tag mate with the groupies and long best friend. At this point he decides to give up on relationships and prefers the company of the alcohol. Alcohol becomes his best friend and he becomes a constant shit-faced drunk.

Eve is a pole-dancer, stripper at a night club called, Nocturnes. Her staged name there is Lola. Rax had met her once at her previous job at Jacksonville and now that he found her in New Orleans, seems like a dream come true.

Lola is trying to brush him off, because she's interested in gathering more money in order to be able to get her dream house in the future and that can only happen if she sells her body in Hell. Hell is a secret room where VIP clients can do with their 'angels' whatever they please for a few thousand dollars. Eve accepts to agree to the terms and stay away from other guys outside of work, but Rax keeps messing with her plans. Meanwhile, Rax gets warnings from his band about his attitude and his alcoholism.

“Ready to give this pole a workout it’ll never forget?”
“Baby, you’re my number-one, go-to pole.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I didn't love this book. It didn't blow me away, I didn't feel any particular emotion that would make enjoy it, like I wished to. Maybe it was the fact that I didn't like Rax as a character, so I wasn't into the hero that much. But even the heroine made me roll my eyes and wonder why do I keep reading this?

I need to say something about this series, that I forgot to mention on my previous reviews. Is it only me or this series remind me a lot of The Sinners on Tour Boxed Set?? I'm not saying the plots are the same, but a stripper, two parts of the band long time best friends who were fucking each other, submissive rocker who wants to get beaten, alcoholic etc. etc. Maybe it's just me thinking that, who knows? Bottom line, I had enjoyed the sinners more than the Hard Rock Harlots.

I didn't like the fact that they kept saying goodbye to each other, then they were going back to each other (for no apparent reason, in my opinion). I didn't care for Rax because I never liked him, so I can't say I fell sorry for him. It was up to him to cut this addiction, having a bunch of people supporting him and all. Yes, alcoholism isn't easy, but like any addiction isn't something that cannot be cured. Also, he met Eve while he was drunk, whenever they were together he was drunk, he would even dump her after their moments in the bedroom and go get some booze. He needed alcohol more than her, so I didn't feel their 'love'.

"Rax may be the serpent in my lady garden, but I’m the one who tempted him. I only hope his choice to bite into my apple doesn’t prove as devastating as the original Eve’s did."

I did like Eve's character and I agree that whatever happened to her was tragic and her life wasn't easy with all the drama surrounding her. I thought that she was a wise girl, but selling herself and stooping so low just to get her dream house? I couldn't accept that excuse for suffering the things they were doing to her. Especially *shudders* I could accept all these if she could barely survive, if she had a baby, I have numerous of reasons to justify this, but these kind of actions are not acceptable to me. I would maybe be okay if she enjoyed all that and she was into it, but she was clearly suffering, so no.

What I enjoyed was the character development, the fact that it shows the raw effects that alcoholism can cause, the friendships that were fixed, the importance of having someone that you can count on, that sometimes you have to move on and change your dreams etc. So no, I didn't hate this book, but I didn't love it either.

Sucks to be in the minority, but I have to be honest with myself. Trust me, I wish I had enjoyed this story more. Hopefully others will like this book more than me.

I was so excited about reading this story about Rax, "Killer Buzz Floats" guitarist. After the rough go around he had in "BEATS"(the 2nd book) I just wasn't sure how he was going to dig himself out of his mess. This story is NOT for the faint of heart when it comes to true HEART felt emotion and Strong language(511 F*#@'s) and raw sexual content. Rax is lost and looking for a way to go on with his band and with his life. Throughout this book I LOVE being in his head and truly understanding what he is thinking and feeling - The author does the same with the female lead in this book - I had the opportunity to be there with her through out her struggles and trying to understand the "why's" and where she was headed. I WILL be reading this book a second time and I give it 5 stars because it DID NOT disappoint in bringing out several different emotions and the ending was SUPERB...I have some Favorite parts about the book I want to discuss with Kendall's fan page group "Rockers and Harlots".
Have a BLAST reading!!!

“I wanna be the only pole you ever need. I’m tall. Hard. Strong. Mostly straight. I swear to God I’ll always support you and never let you down.”

This is the fucked up story of Rax and Lola, two people who were far from stable and definitely not at a point in their lives where they can grow their attraction for one another. Lola was THE reason Rax ended up in the hospital that one night a few months ago abd as chance has it their paths crossed once again. You'd think that after a dose of alcohol poisoning that would stop him from reaching for the bottle but nope, it makes him drown in it more. Rax recently just fucked up his relationship with Toombs, he could have been happy, he could’ve had it all, dominating both Toombs and Jinx, but his dick had other plans and now all he has left is his guitar and his alcohol.
“It’s not your fault, vodka. You’re the only one that makes me happy. You keep me steady. And everyone gives you shit for it. I’d never shit on you. I love you.”

Lola is a glorified stripper on the outside and a broken Eve on the inside. She is doing the only thing she can do and that is Dance. She is so focused on a dream her parents had that she begins to believe it is something she has to have in order to be happy, the problem is getting the dream means living in hell, and there are rules she must obey. It was all just a job to her, being able to separate her mind and her body was a gift, one that was easily shattered the day Rax walked back into her life. She doesn’t understand what it is about this man, but something tells me he’s just as lost as I am. Like recognizes like. Even when what we see is horrifying. He’s my mirror. And that scares the hell out of me.
Rax found me. Not Lola, the broken-winged angel from Nocturnes’s Hell who’ll do anything with anyone for the right amount of money. He unearthed Eve. Invisible, frail, orphaned Eve.

Rax and Lola are both owned by two different demons, they are both trapped in their own versions of hell; not strong enough alone and more so together. As long as they aren’t in control of themselves they are no good to each other, and sometimes you just have to step away no matter how much it hurts.
“Everyone deserves happiness, Rax. Even the lowest of the low. Even us.”

Nocturnes is so much more than sex and rock and roll, of course there is a healthy dose of sex and rock, it wouldn’t be the same if that was lacking, but there is also a fucked up story on the effects of alcoholism and the lengths people will go too to get their dream. There is a BiG WTF scene here, it’s not made up, I haven’t seen it but this is the first time I’ve read about it. Rax and Lola were two lost souls that you couldn’t help but feel for, they had everything against them even themselves. I still enjoyed the read, it’s one of my guilty pleasures, wonder whose next…
“We are Killer Buzz Float, where the women rock the cock—or in Jillian’s case, the twat—and the dudes cut loose our love fountains, quenching the insatiable thirsts of cock-kind. Long live The Rock!”

I LOVED both Strings and Beats so reading Nocturnes was a must read book for me. I really do feel sorry for those of you who decide to forgo reading this series. You really are missing out on some of the smuttiest, naughtiest and most entraining reads that I feel has EVER been written.

This was my favorite read of the series. It touched on several dark area's and Kendal Grey pulled it off most amazingly. This book grabbed me right from the start and I had a very hard time putting it down. What she also did fantastically was the characters. I LOVED RAX and EVE! They were some of the most original characters that I have EVER had the pleasure of reading. Lets NOT forget about the heat, this may have been the HOTTEST read of the year for me. The sex scenes will BLISTER your fingers and have you squirming in your seats. What surprised me most about this book was the emotions I felt while reading. I was drawn emotionally into the story and I was TOTALLY invested in Rax and Eve as they dealt with some pretty bad shit that was going on in their lives. I LOVED reading how they came through all of it with the help from each other and from the other members of Killer Buzz Float. If you have read Strings and Beats you will be happy to know that Letty, Shades, Jink, Toomb's and yes even Jillian all had HUGE rolls in this book. I wish this series would just keep on going. Here's a few words I would use to describe this book, WILD, passionate, angst, SCORCHING, emotional, thrilling, squinting and lube.

So for all you rock loving, smut reading woman who don't mind some really bad language and EXTREMELY kinky sex scenes I HIGHLY recommend you give this series a try.

I have one more thing to say, ROCK ON KENDALL Grey!!!

If you enjoyed reading NOCTURNES in ebook or paperback, you will be blown away by the audiobook. Holy fuckin' hell. Cal Sanders and Lessa Lamb are positively divine as Rax Wrathbone and Eve Belikov. Your drawers will catch fire and burn through your nethers with so much wanton lust, you'll want to bang everything in sight when you finish. 😂 Be sure to keep a fire extinguisher handy when you put on your earphones. I loved STRINGS. I adored BEATS. But this one...was my favorite of the three. Kendall knocked this one out, and I couldn't put it down. I started it in the mid-to-late morning, and finished it by 11 pm. Eve was a great character, and Rax...oh, sweet, tortured Rax. I'm familiar with alcoholism (numerous family members and friends), and the author handled this issue realistically and with sensitivity.

I'm just going to go right to the pink elephant in the corner.... Not 1, Not 2, But 3!!!! Wowza that scene was just what Rax needed to watch. It was like a mini wake up call for him.
Oh my little messed up Rax....he just never was truly loved. That's all he wants is to have someone who can look at him with googoo eyes and feel wanted like he see's happening with his band mates.
This is the raw, yet sad story of Rax and his conquest to over-come loosing out on Toombs. Rax never has given up on that one who got away in Florida...
So instead of moving on and working on getting the new album ready to go, he turns to Alcohol...it gives him all the good feelings he is looking for. But with those good feelings, at what price does the band suffer? Will they meet the deadline for the album or will they loose Rax and have to find someone to take his place.

I really liked watching Rax's transformation but the sex scenes weren't as good as previous books and the whole thing seemed repetitive and probably a bunch of shit could have been cut without adversely affecting the novel.

However the most unrealistic aspect wasn't the sex act we are 'warned not to say is unrealistic because I've seen it done in movies and we all know they're realistic as fuck' in the author's note, but the idea that a pole dancer never gets bruises.

Pretty crazy...Yes, Kendall does warn you about a CRAZY Scene involving "Hell" and Some Angels...haha, but it was pretty crazy.

Other than my shock...I really enjoyed NOCTURNES, and Rax and Eve's story. I thought it was heartbreaking, romantic and utterly real.

Kendall does a fabulous job at getting to the nitty gritty of a persons issues and putting them in the spotlight.

I loved the "soulmate" aspect of NOCTURNES, and I wish the series wasn't over.

Review:

Wow... I don't even know where to begin o.O I mean Kendall Grey likes to take me out of my comfort level but I was so shocked at the first "sex scene" that I thought she may have pushed me too far. But she did'nt. In fact Nocturnes ROCKED MY WORLD! Kendall knows what she's doing, and she knows her characters and just what they need.

Move over rockers and Harlots. Eve Belikov is in the house.

After Beats I wasn't sure I wound be able to like Rax. He was a selfish, horrible person inside and out -- without apology. And although we are shown that he is (slightly) redeemable, we are also proved right about how we felt about him in the first place. He was everything we thought he was. But loosing Tooms has sent him spiraling out of control (even more than usual), you see his rock bottom coming, and so does he but he is powerless to stop it.

Rax meets Eve in New Orleans while spiraling out of control. And it's not "boy meets nice girl and falls in love" NOT AT ALL. Eve is one seriously messed up chick.

Knowing that this woman is a walking biohazard is a huge downer. And coming from me, that's saying a lot.

But she is somehow perfect for Rax. In all their messedupness they come together with beauty and love. And it's not the sappy kind, Kendall doesn't do sappy, it's the raw, in your face, powerful kind. The Hard Rock Harlots series may be Erotica, and it has its share of laughs too, but it also have very powerful character development and story-lines. It is hard to find this in smut, but Kendall does it to perfection!

I also loved the way Kendall dealt with Rax's alcoholism. She didn't sugar coat it -- it was REAL... The story was told from dual POV's so I got to FEEL his misery and choke on his desperation.

But the million dollar question → Does Rax get redemption in Nocturnes? Do I love him like is do Shades and Toombs? The answer is HELL YES!!! Rax is not for everyone, and he is far from perfect, but he stole my heart :-)

As for Eve, she was frustrating at times but I did like her. I understand that she had to be messed up for her to be a good match for Rax but I did not understand some of her decisions. I was shaking my head in bewilderment throughout many of her mental ruminations just not "getting" her. I think that is the only reason I could not give this one 5 stars like I did the other two. But I did like her, and like I said she was PERFECT for Rax!

Her halo might be a little crooked, and she might be sporting tiny horns, but she really is an angel.

Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this series to those who are NOT faint of heart, it is amazing! I LOVED all three novels and cannot wait to see what Kendall comes up with next!!!

I am SO ADDICTED to this series! I absolutely ENJOYED Strings, ADORED Beats, but I FUCKING LOVED Nocturnes! Every damn time Kendall Grey knocks it out of the park with her writing style. It's dirty, raunchy, naughty, and it just hit the spot for me. Who wants to read dull romance books, when you can have an Erotic Rock Star Romance with a KICK ASS element!

Braxton Rathbone, a.k.a. Rex, a.k.a. RAX fucking Wrathbone! Rax is a rock start that you LOVE to HATE! He makes horrible decisions, he drinks too much, he swears like a fucking sailor, he sleeps with anything and anyone! But it's OK because when he steps on stage and starts playing on his guitar, all the bad decisions and horrible choices fade away and he is left with the MUSIC. Nothing else matters! It's every other second of the day he isn't in this element where you start to worry about Rax. I have got to say that when Rax is drunk, it is by far one of the most fucking hysterical things, I have read in a long time. He is definitely unforgettable.

Eve, a.k.a. LOLA! Oh boy, I wanted to hate her so much! She was incredibly full of herself in the looks department. She was absolutely beautiful and she knew it too. Little ballet dancer turned full on stripper. Losing her parents at such a young age had to be difficult and she is dealing with it the best way she knows how, trying to save up and have a better life. It is what her parents would have wanted for her. The things she has to go through was so incredibly hard to read. It broke my heart, it made me soften up to her and understand her better. Eve is not only beautiful, she is fucking strong!

If you read the previous books, you remember Lola, Rax's drug of choice for a couple of minutes. He thought he would never see her again, but while the band is in New Orleans putting together a record, he stumbles upon a club called NOCTURNES and he spots her. Lola is more than she seems and NOCTURNES is definitely more than it seems. Rax is a total drunken mess after what went down with Jinx and Toombs. He hides away with his tequila, cursing at everyone that looks at him funny. He finally finds his Lola and he is not letting her go until he has her.

Despite the laughter and the cringing and the tons of kinky fun, there is a deep down, emotional roller coaster ride that both Rax and Eve go through together as well as apart. Eve had a horrible tragedy happen in her life. Rax is about to hit rock bottom with his drinking. It's real life problems that everyone goes through, and it's heartwarming to connect with these characters on that deep emotional level.

So even though Kendall Grey can write like a rock star, creating words and phrases that I have never heard before, making her readers crack up with laughter, she also has that special connection with her readers, getting in to the tough stuff, the nitty-gritty of the world, and makes us think and feel. I'm so incredibly elated that I found this author, and I can't wait to see what dirty, filthy, x-rated smut she comes up with next!

Damn you Kendall Grey for making me feel! I loved Letty and Shades. I needed Jinx and Toombs to get together. But Rax? Rax could have jumped off a cliff and I wouldn’t have cared, until Kendall Grey made me actually care for the son of a bitch. Out of all the characters in the Hard Rock Harlots series, Rax has always been the most difficult to like. It was hard to find any redeeming qualities, especially after he almost forced himself on Jinx in Beats. But Nocturnes not only changed the way I viewed Rax, but I actually found myself rooting for his happy ending.

I’ve had more than a few conversations with readers who said they just couldn’t get past the Rax and Jinx incident. And I understand that, but I think to really enjoy this story you need to go into it with an open mind. Rax is an alcoholic, so you need to decide if you’re willing to forgive his sins, accept his past transgressions and move on or if you will forever condemn him for his actions induced by alcohol.

But enough about Rax, Nocturnes also focuses on Lola/Eve. Eve is the stripper Rax first met in Jacksonville. She’s now stripping in New Orleans as well as working in the underground sex club, Heaven, affectionately nicknamed Hell by those who work there. One of the first scenes we get with Eve and Rax is the scene. Yeah, you know which one I’m talking about, and if you don’t . . . don’t worry there’s no mistaking which scene everyone’s talking about. Eve must decide if letting the patrons of Heaven use her body any way they see fit (and I mean any way) to finance her dream of finally having a home is worth the psychological damage.

Rax and Eve do this odd dance, taking one step forward and two steps back. They get each other’s decisions and sadness, but that doesn’t mean they like them. It’s their destructiveness that both pushes them together and pulls them apart. The way they were drawn to each other was beautifully done. To be honest, I don’t think either one of them would have made it much longer if they hadn’t found each other.

So, final verdict . . . is Rax’s character redeemable? Well for me that’d be a big Killer Buzz Float hell yeah! But that’s just me, what can I say . . . I love an underdog and I really, really enjoyed the book. Oh and huge kudos to Grey for sneaking in characters from her Just Breathe series, it was the sauce on top of my awesome.

4 stars you may ask?? Yes indeed. I fell in love with KG's writing with Strings for the fact that she's so unconventional, crass and vulgar. This 3rd entry into the Hard Rock Harlots series is no different, but, IMHO, each book has delved deeper into the human psyche and thus touched me on a deeper level. I actually purchased this book when it was first released over a year ago, but sat on it this long because it dealt with my least favorite member of the band. All I can say is, I am a pussy of an idiot. There were parts to this one that literally made me cringe for the character so much that I had to put the book down for a day or two until MY OWN psyche could handle furthering the story. But I loved every minute. Every vulgar, profane, crass, and cringe-worthy minute. LONG LIVE THE ROCK!!!

The last 40% of the book was soooo great.
It was just a shame that the first 60% was a little boring :(

It was brilliant to see all the band again. Letty and Shades are definitely still my favourites. No doubt!

I don't have a whole lot to say really.
I really liked Rax once he became sober and apologised to the people he hurt. Especially Toombs.

I did like Eve, but the whole pole-dancer/prostitute thing just didn't do it for me at all.
It was gross and dirty. Not in a hot way like Letty and Shades, who are filthy but sexy as all hell.
This was just cringe-worthy :(

Overall the book was okay. But it would have been a two starrer if not for the last 40%, which was awesome.

I will still be reading the next in the series. If there's another book :D

I don't know how Kendell continues to give us stories about character we grow to love. Rax has to be one of the best written characters ...ever. Loved the changes in him from the last book until the end of Nocturnes. He has the best one lines. Loved getting in his head for a few hours. My heart goes out to Eve. I'm glad she was able to get Rax'd.
I read this book 3 days ago and can't stop thinking about chapter 2. It was haunting me, but after reasearching (googled) it do feel better.

Call me a prude but I have never been more excruciatingly unbearably uncomfortable reading a sex scene before. I mean is it actually physically possible to fit not 1, not 2, but 3 dicks in one asshole at the same time?? How on earth do the 3 dicks in question even geographically position themselves to insert in said asshole??

After reading this scene I just couldn't venture any further, thinking oh god what is coming up next....ick, just ick!

Good God do I love the way Kendall Grey tells a story. She can polish a turd and make it look like a chocolate diamond. By turd, I mean a genre of book that I normally wouldn’t touch unless my life depended on it. I’d rather read about someone get their throat torn out than about them falling in love. I’m glad I’ve made the exception for Kendall’s books.

Nocturnes is a story of love hidden beneath the rough exterior of non-conventional lifestyles of the two main characters, Rax and Eve. He’s an alcoholic rock star with issues, and she’s a prostitute with the proverbial “heart of gold”. They are both so messed up in the head they are perfect for each other.

Rax shows the reader a vulnerability that we haven’t seen before, in his belief that he doesn’t deserve to be loved, and that he’s too messed up for a relationship. It was nice to see him actually show some sort of emotion beyond just trying to get laid. Believe it or not, he actually has a heart! He is more than just the jerk we read about in Strings and Beats.

Eve (AKA Lola!) has spent her life trying to achieve something that would make her dead parents happy. She has convinced herself that how she achieves her goals isn’t nearly as important as actually achieving them. She’s a stripper and prostitute on the side. She thinks that if she can just keep in business long enough, she will be able to afford to leave the lifestyle and achieve her dream of living in the Garden District of New Orleans. I’m not sure what she planned on doing once she moved there, but I’m ok with that.

Nocturnes contains the dirtiest but also some of the sweetest sex scenes I’ve ever read, and if you have read the rest of the series, you know this isn’t a new thing. Kendall Grey has done a wonderful job of showing us every side and aspect to the dirty world of prostitution and celebrity life. It may be sparkly and pretty outside, but inside it’s pretty nasty and reminds me of some of the sick bastards that are out there pretending to be good husbands.

Just like in Strings and Beats, underneath all of the crazy sex is an actual plot line that follows the relationship between Rax and Eve. As it grows and changes, and becomes something potentially beautiful.

I looooooved the last quarter of this book the most. When Killer Buzz Float returns to New Orleans, their final performance was just magical. I loved the references to Grey’s other series, “Just Breathe”.

I would recommend this book to anyone who isn’t afraid of their own sexuality or that of others. Her whole Hard Rock Harlots series explores different sexual ideas and concepts that, as someone who is quite shy, may not have thought possible or that people actually do!

Let me begin with, this book isn’t for everyone! Like the warning states there are 511 Fucks in Nocturnes. Also there is a particular scene that will not be for everyone. Even I was cringing reading it. And, I have with Kendall Grey and a few other women to know it is possible for the scene to happen. Google it if you want, but I recommend you don’t. You will need to BLEACH your eyes out.

Do I have your attention now. Ok so Nocturnes is the story about Rax, the guitarist for Killer Buzz Floats. In Strings Rax was certainly a douche. Then he got worse in Beats. I have to admit I could not stand him. So when I heard Kendall Grey was writing his story I wasn’t sure how I would like it, considering I HATED him. Oh how wrong I was. Rax totally redeemed himself. I absolutely fell for him.

After losing Toombs to Jinx, Rax is lost. He just wants to move on and get over Toombs. My heart broke for Rax. You discover pretty quickly he is an alcoholic and has some major issues. I just wanted to step in and fix his broken soul. I mean his alcohol addiction has caused him to loose almost everything he loves. Then he runs into Lola again.

Eve (aka Lola) is a stripper/prostitute. I LOVED Eve, although I didn’t always love the things she did. Eve has her own demons she is dealing with, the death of her parents. She is feisty and caring. She has a lot of spunk and I enjoyed her POV on her relationship with Rax.

Kendall shows us that Rax can be vulnerable. Which in turn humanizes him inmy eyes. This is something new, You don’t see this side of Rax until Nocturnes. He believes that he does not deserve to be loved, and that he is just too messed up for a relationship. OMG... It was so good to see this side of him. For him to show some sort of emotion. You soon discover Braxon Wrathbone is more than just the DICK that Rax was when we read Strings and Beats. He actually has feelings and wants LOVE.

Although there is a lot of kinky sex in Nocturnes, there is also some humor. I found myself laughing, crying, cringing, yelling at both Rax and Eve like they were my children.
Just like Ms. Grey, did with both Strings and Beats, in Nocturnes we discover even under all the dirty sexiness there is a plot.

I LOVED watching these two discover and fall in love with each other. And that ending PERFECTION!!! Could not have ended better. I Gave Nocturnes 5 fantabulous stars. AMAZING!!! I am not ready for the series to be over.

***3.5 Cherry Bomb Stars***

Hard Core madness is what this books are all about. I might have to visit the plastic surgeon very soon and ask him to hook me up with some Botox for the frown area on my face, after cringing so much while reading Nocturnes, is all good though, cause I love it! and that's why I keep coming back for more debauchery like only Kendall Grey can write.

This is the third book on this series and is all about Rax, the band's guitarist. He was just dumped by his best friend, and has been drinking himself stupid every night trying to numb the pain and loneliness while also fantasying about Eve aka "Lola", the beautiful stripper he met back in Jacksonville. While partying it up on a strip club in New Orleans he runs into her again and he's determined not to let her go without giving her a taste of his rock star persona among other things. Eve is a Russian ballerina turned stripper after her parents were killed by a drunk driver when she was young. She's trying to save money to secure a future for herself so she doesn't have to depend on anybody by working at one seriously wicked underground club. This two characters have more baggage together than Cher when she goes on tour (I know, right?)but when they are together their are freaking dysfunctional and damaged but it just works. Rax and Eve are center stage for some of the most crude, unthinkable, hard core sex scenes I've ever read about, so be ready...

I must say though, having read all three books, this one was my least favorite of the series and the reason was because I just wasn't a total fan of Rax and Eve, they were just too much in your face for my taste and I didn't connect with their story like I did the others.

This books are meant to shock you, rock you and show you a good time. To read them you need to be very, very open minded and just relax and let the members of Killer Buzz Float corrupt your senses.

My Nocturnes Playlist:
*Not myself Tonight by Christina Aguilera.
*Get Lucky by Daft Punk.
*Sympathy For The Devil by The Rolling Stones.
*Angel by Aerosmith.

3.5 stars

"The truth is, I'm just a self-absorbed hedonist. Nobody made me like this. No terrible tragedy pushed me off the bridge into the deep end of assholery. My parents never treated me bad. It's just who I am. A straight-up, 100 percent pure, grade A dick. It's the only person I know how to be." - Rax

I read this strictly out of curiosity. Could KR possibly redeem the one character who single handedly ruined Beats, the previous book in the series, for me. Rax was such a total and utter ass****, with absolutely no explanation as to why other than because he could. Unfortunately, my intense dislike for him carried over, therefore, I had a very difficult time emotionally connecting to his plight in Nocturnes.

This was the darkest of the three books and KR did an amazing job showcasing the underbelly of Rax's alcoholism and Lola/Eve's "profession". It was gritty and raw without being gratuitous; pragmatic without being overly sentimental. Nonetheless, my primary issue was that she never truly addressed why Rax was such a cruel selfish bastard. His road to redemption was realistic and well paced, but what was at the root of his behavior was never revealed. Yes, Toombs and Jinx's relationship pushed him over the edge, but he was damaged long before that ever happened. I don't mind rooting for the damaged bad boy, as a matter of fact, their my favorite kind of heroes. It doesn't matter what they've done, how far they've fallen, as long as I know the whys of it all. "Just because" is simply not good enough for me.

Despite not having all the answers I craved, Nocturnes was a beautiful story about two people crossing paths at rock bottom and finding the strength to love themselves, and eventually each other. In the end I found myself invested enough in the characters of this series to want to see what happens to them down the road. So if KR writes a novella about the band's rise to fame or even a full length book for Jillian, I have no doubt that it would find it's way onto my TBR list - and read sooner rather than later.

I fell in love with a stripper/whore and an alcholic asshole. Lol. I would never have thought that possible but Kendall Grey has once again worked her magic.

I seriously did not think Rax could redeem himself. I thought, ok, he'll be nice to some chick and still be an ass and so forth and so on. I WAS WRONG! Rax is so much more than just a jerk. He's an alcoholic with issues that run far deeper.

As for Eve, well poor girl has dreams. Literally, her parents died when she was young and she Is just doing what she has to do to make enough money to fulfill her parents dreams for her. I didn't know if I would like the fact that she is a stripper and a prostitute but the way this book is written completely sold me. Eve is strong and determined and is actually very funny at times. She doesn't think anyone will ever see who she truly is beyond her perfect body. Until Rax. He sees more than just her body. The connection is there and the pull towards each other is to much to fight off.

"This is raw, unfiltered, pure Rax. And as much as I wish he were clean and sober, he's the perfect complement to raw, unfiltered, pure Eve."

"I found my soul mate is a self-centered, alcoholic rock star. The irony is too much to bear."

Over all their story was very deep and emotional. I loved how they both had so much depth and were not just two damaged souls. They were damaged but wanted more and found a way to make it happen. There is a scene in the first 20% of this book that left me speechless. It's one of those moments that has you saying "WTF?" I had to pick my jaw up off the floor and glance around to be sure no one was looking over my shoulder, I blushed, gasped and just sat back for a second to ponder what I had just read. Then I laughed like a crazy person. Yeah, it was interesting to say the least.

So, what do you get when you put a stripper/whore and an alcoholic together? Do yourself a favor an read this book to find out. You won't be let down! I loved this book, and I fell in love with Rax and Eve. Love this series!

Let's start by praising all things Kendall Grey!

Now, On to Nocturnes. I went into to this book hating Rax and I am not gonna lie I still hated him all the way up to the 75% mark.

Nocturnes begins right where Beats left off and Rax is a horny drunk looking for fun in s strip club when he spots Lola! Lola you might remember is the stripper in Strings that caught his attention! But Lola is not your everyday innocent stripper, she is much much more. Soon you read things she has done that you cannot un-read!

The relationship, if you can call it that, between Rax and Lola is complicated to go into without giving too much away. I could really tell they have a deep attraction. At the beginning it was Rax's love for Toombs and the fact that her could not just easily get over it that really tore me up. But watching him fall in love with Lola and her him kept me close to tears the rest of the way.

Now that we have dealt with the fact that this is a very emotional read lets talk about the kinky sex (and there is plenty of it!) These two are HOT together and insatiable! I am not so sure I believe anyone can bounce back that quickly but I sure hope it's true!

lol

Overall I really like this book and think anyone who has red Strings and Beats needs to read this book so they can not only understand Rax but come to love him too!

I still don't like Rax, but he and Eve were perfect for one another. I had my moments where I just wanted to throw this book across the room, but I pushed through and by the end things weren't so bad. Kendall thrives on writing a book that is going to be in your face, unapologetic, and downright gritty. Nocturnes is that and more, so you have been warned. I didn't find much at all to admire about Eve or Rax honestly, and they are two flawed characters of epic proportions. Rax is an alcoholic asshat that I wanted to just lay the smack down on, and Eve is a whore but she does own it. So why the 3 stars? Kendall was actually able to make me feel sorry for Rax, and I honestly didn't think given how I felt about him in Beats that I could feel anything but hate for him. So nice job Ms. Grey. Overall, this band is extreme in all ways, but they are also funny, unique, and exciting to read about even when you think you shouldn't feel that way about some of their antics. I'm glad I pushed through with this one even if I still think Rax is an asshat and Eve is a whore. They were definitely well matched, and the ending of this story was kind of sweet.

Can you say LOVE this book.. This whole series just rocked my world. The characters pop from the page and you get them real and raw.. and naked..The scenes in this book made my blood pressure rise and made me feel things that I have never felt before..Kendall has such a unique writing style and her way with words is amazing. I could pull a word from her work daily and say I learned something today. I really loved that she added a bit from her Breathing Series. Love me some Gavin and Zoe..
