I have four soulmates, but we’re a match made in Hell… I found my fated mates, but they’re mindless beasts who don’t remember me at all. On a good day, they ignore me. On a bad day, they eye me with suspicion and fear. Every blank look fractures my soul more, until I’m ready to break. I’ll need a miracle to restore my mates’ memories, let alone undo the curses inked on my body. But with my psycho mate Wynvail hunting me, determined to claim me at all costs, I’ll be lucky to survive to the end of the month—when I’m cursed to kill Harvey, Emlyn, and Kai. And the final nail in my coffin? There’s a black pit in my memory. Every time I try to remember what I’ve forgotten, pain explodes through my skull. Being crazy, violent, and ruthless might not save me this time. Midnight Descent is a paranormal romance with psycho men, a ruthless revenge-driven FMC, twisted demon romance, and lots and lots of bloodlust. Deadly archdemons, cutting sarcasm, epic reincarnation romance, and gruesome murders fill these pages, so get ready to laugh, cringe, and swoon. This book is set in the same world as Lili Kazana - but this series stands completely separate.
Leigh Kelsey is the author of romance and reverse harem books for anyone with a soft spot for steely women and the tortured men who love them. No matter what stories she's writing - vampires or shifters or bad boys - they all share a common thread of love, heart, and action. She is the author of the Lili Kazana series, the Moonlight Inn series, the Dead Space stand alone, and the Blacktower Prison for Supernaturals series, plus many more books.
Throughout this book, Haley is the only one of the main characters who still has (most of) her memories. Kai, Em, and Harvey still don't know who she is, though they do start warming up to her more and realize that they're protective of her without fully understanding why. As time goes on, they become less feral and start remembering bits and pieces of things... including the fact that there's a very important person that they've been forgetting. All of this aside, they still have to figure out what to do about their curses!
By the end of the book, we learn that there's some much bigger players on the field than they ever expected. It's still interesting and I've been reading it almost non-stop to see what comes next.
Note: This series so far as definitely been mostly about the plot. There's some spice, but maybe only 2-3 scenes a book, roughly? So, if you prefer spice, just be prepared there isn't much in this! Also: I'm not sure if it will happen again in the future, but there is one scene of MM in this book.
The Kissed by Brimstone series is back with Midnight Descent. Leigh Kelsey's follow-up to Hellborn Angel was one heck of a read. Emotions were real, things were revealed and just when they get a win they get knocked back down again.
Haley has to be an optimist, how else can she go on when she can't communicate with her mates, has a curse hanging over her head, and she's missing something very important, and that is just to name a few of their problems but Haley keeps going. She's not immune to her issues, she has her fair share of emotional moments but has them and then keeps on keeping on.
The guys are improving, we get a few chapters from them and it reveals what they're thinking and feeling even though they can't communicate except for Kai, he seems ahead of Em and Harvey. The guys actually care about Hal and are starting to show it. Speaking of... things have shifted between the guys, they have gotten steamy. I feel like this development doesn't really fit but does detour me from the story.
I was suffering at the end of Hellborn Angel, the guys were traumatized and didn't remember anything including Wane. I needed this book, are things perfect, hecks no, but they are getting better. Haley and the guys have hit some major goals, the guys are starting to remember and Haley has figured out something key and they make an effort to look into the curse that's hanging over their heads. There were tender moments and moments of excitement like man-eating hyenas and a death cave. I got a bit of clarity about what's going on (especially w/Wynvail) and a plot twist was revealed towards the end that has me wondering what that means Haley.
Midnight Descent was a great read but Haley and the guys' problems are far from over. There is still the curse, Wynvail has made another appearance, and something bad is coming their way. Leigh is promising good things in the next book, Eternal Night.
“Midnight Descent” is the second book in the “Kissed by Brimstone” series, and is filled with quests and action from start to finish. I seriously can’t remember a lull in the storyline, it feels like a race against time to find the answers to prevent the curses from kicking in. I love watching these men find their humanity (or demon-personality) again, and exploring their connection to Haley again.
So yeah; this book is fast-paced, action-packed and a tad bit crazy from start to finish. This book provides some answers, but I will need the next book to really make sense of it all. Also: I love a heroine who doesn’t want to be a heroine and is very vocal about it! She’s a badass for the people she truly loves, and goes to the end of the worlds for them, but not te become a hero. Just to have the people she loves in her life, happily.
This is a great series, and I can’t wait to get the next book!
RH *Paranormal *Mainly FMC POV *fated mates *demons *rebirth *stabby FMC *established harem (4?) *fast burn 🔥 *2/4 Well Hales has certainly got her hands full in this book! With trying to bring her three higher demon mates back from the brink of feralness she almost reaches her breaking point, until a soul calls out to hers giving her the strength to carry on! 😄 we all know who it is but she has no idea 😩😩 honestly heart aches for them! Not only is she dealing with that but she starts to discover what her curses are going to force her to do….and then lo and behold one mark is dragging her into some kind of prophecy 😬😬 not that Halwyn wants to know about it or have anything to do with it 🙈 thankfully things start to look up with her mates slowly starting to become a little more possessive protective demon! 🥰Can she get them sorted in time for it all to come crashing down?!! Annndd then there’s another heartache of an ending in the last couple of chapters! Need to see where this goes!
What the heck have I just read, this book draws you in chews you up and then spits you out just for good measure.... this series totally kicks ass halween has her three mates who are feral beast trying to kill each other and that's just on a good day, bit she never give up hope and continues to share her memories of there life together before they all died. But in her heart she knows there something missing but her memories are blank and when she tries to remember it hurts her and her guys. The more time these guys are together slowest surly the men in her life start remembering and forming actual words instead growls and grunts. This book gave me mixed emotions just when u think things are going to work out there is something or someone else thrown into the mix loved it ....
Midnight Descent is book 2 in the Kissed by Brimstone series which focuses on Halwen (Haley) and her mates. Previously, they went bye bye were then reborn at different times, and have no memory of each other. In Kidnight Descent Haley and the guys start to get their memories back, they get some clues on their curses and how to break them possibly, and get some interesting revelations along the way. Haley comes close to breaking several times but even feral her guys are there for her, which is so endearing!! After getting a lead they follow it to a lady who has been through what Haley and her mates have…only for everything to twist once again. That was an epic cliffhanger that left me begging for more. Hopefully book 3 releases soon!
Halwen (FMC) is still trying to find answers that she needs in this 2nd book in The Kissed by Brimstone series. The pace certainly kept me on my toes that's for sure. For me it was the dynamic Halwen had throughout this book with Kai, Em & Harvey had especially when they couldn't talk for the majority of this book that I really liked. With plenty of great plot twists and steam too. That cliff-hanger ending was epic!! I cant wait to get my hands on the next book now.
This was a really interesting and well written book. It kept my interest from start to end. I love all the characters even the bad ones. Halley finds her mates again and loves them even though they have gone feral. ok no more spoilers. read this book you will be happy you did.can not waite for the next book.
An enjoyable read that will grab you and keep you reading till the end. It moves along at a pace that makes for an easy and enjoyable read. It has characters that will fall in love with and no matter what happens you want to be there for them. This books needs to be read, you will not be sorry.
Now that all of her mates have been rescued they are slowly all beginning to talk and regaining some of their memories. There is the ticking time bomb of the curse so they are trying to locate a woman who survived her mates dying.
I enjoyed the first half but struggled to finish the second half. It felt a bit like a filler book leading up to the next. I’ll eventually finish the series because I like the plot but I’m gonna pause on it for now
Book 1 left me with a "Eh" feeling; as it's intro for the this series was actually frustrating and mish-mash in my humble opinion. Book 2 is SO much BETTER & comes together well. Happy Reading
