As a female cop, Delanie Cooper is on her most difficult assignment yet. To stop a baby-selling ring, she goes undercover as an unmarried, pregnant teen. Her new partner, Eli Logan, plays the father. With his rugged good looks, Delanie doesn't have to fake attraction, but Eli's rough exterior and bitterness toward women make it hard even to be friends. Eli is outraged at having another female partner. His last one nearly got him killed, and she wasn't the first woman to let him down. He's sure he'll never need another woman in his life or anyone else, not even God. His past has shown him he can only count on himself. Amidst danger and deceit can Eli forget the pain of yesterday to see something different in Delanie? And will he come to know God, the only One who will never let him down?

I like how this story emphasizes how believers should not date unsaved people. I also like how the main character regularly got together with her girlfriends, how they would hold each other accountable, how they were honest with each other, and how they prayed for each other.

REVIEW: This is a new-to-me author and I really enjoyed this book. The Christian theme was strong throughout the story, the characters were complex and well written, and the story line was well developed and interesting. I especially liked how Delanie lived her faith and held friends accountable when she felt they weren't making Biblically based decisions. Yet once she had given her thoughts she drew back and left the final decision to them and supported them the best she could. Because this had such a strong thread throughout I am sure some readers who are not Christians would definitely be turned off by it, but I found it very meaningful. Hope to read more by this author.

FAVORITE QUOTES: "True healing comes from one source and one source only - God."

"I'm not sure any of us can see it when it's our own sin."

"If what you said is true, that bad things happen because of man's sinful choices and not because God wills them, can God forgive me for all the things I've said agains Him?" "He can and He will."

"The good life isn't women and parties. The good life is the joy and peace that come from walking in obedience and living for the Lord."

This one really had me thinking about some spiritual topics! It was a very interesting story with a unique plot device to get the couple together. I had trouble believing some portions of the plot and the climax was a bit of a let down, but on the whole, this is one I would read again!

Delanie was a strong heroine both in her manner and her faith. I enjoyed seeing her give back to the community, and her desire to prove herself to Eli, even though he was determined to resent her. Instead, her determination to succeed forced him to change!

Eli was very prickly, due to the hurts he had sustained in life. I thought this made him more realistic of a hero, especially when considering his motivations to help the kids in his neighborhood.

This was a solid read, one I highly recommend if you enjoy Christian romance!

A Heartsong Presents novel that I really enjoyed! I loved that the MC went undercover and the story was just very interesting. A few things didn't seem 100% believable to me, but other than that a great read.

A friend sent me this book in a box of books she'd finished. It was a quick read. As another friend (not the one who sent me this) would say, it belongs in the law enforcement subgenre of inspirational romance.

What I liked:
-Delanie has regular meetings with friends (girls) and they all seem to try to hold each other accountable.
-Delanie does something to try to make her friend see that marrying an unbeliever is troublesome (and she does it out of love and care for her friend). Delanie also recognizes that if she wants to stay a friend to this woman, she needs to say her piece and then respect her friend's wishes.
-Delanie has boundaries and she isn't afraid to let Eli know what they are.
-Delanie is a capable police officer (as is Eli).

What I didn't like:
-Though Delanie has boundaries she's set for herself, she apparently doesn't have any trouble allowing a segment of the population to believe she's a pregnant teenager (not sure if she's supposed to be married or not). Granted, it is for a good reason (to catch those involved in a baby-selling ring) but still . . . it seems a bit odd for a Christian to agree to this.
-Undercover work is based on subterfuge and lying. Again, not something that most Christians would aspire to doing, even though most of the time, the undercover work serves to reveal things that couldn't be discovered easily in other ways.

So I am not religious and didn't realize this was a religious book so I might not be the best reviewer. I have read other christian romances though and enjoyed some of them. The real reason why I kept reading was because it started out as such a trashy romance then all of a sudden it is God this and God that and I was like what? So I had to keep reading to see if it turned trashy or not, and it didn't. It did however make me think less of the christian characters. I mean sure it would be great to marry someone with the same religious beliefs, but I know plenty of couples of mixed religions and they are perfectly happy and not all sad and wishing they had made different choices. But then again they all respect other peoples religious views so...It just got to be very annoying how closed minded they were.

this was a good short and sweet book to read while in the midst of my hectic life. there was a bit of action and thrill since it is about cops working undercover, but there were more elements on faith and God. There were a lot of points I was glad they brought up. such as "why do bad things happen to good people", or being "unequally yolked", "standing strong in your convictions" to name a few. and really liked that prayer was involved a lot. the characters were believable and easy for many to relate with. when I first read the synopses, I thought it was a little silly, the whole 'Christian undercover cop as a pregnant teen'. but as I read more into it, It sounded much more plausible, which made it entertaining at the same time. I like this book, and would recommend it.

This was a wonderful Christian romance full of suspense. I love a strong female character who is also caring and vulnerable. Delanie Cooper is all of that. I love how her and her family help Eli move past his fear and unbelief. The story provides a contrast with Delanie struggling but holding on to the fact that she wants a relationship only with another believer while her friend is struggling with the same issue but making a different choice. A wonderful blend of romance, suspense, daily decisions of living in faith and seeing the blessings God has provided. Highly recommended.

This was a cute, quick read! I really enjoyed the faith elements, it felt real, and was really thought provoking! I love that in a Christian fiction novel. The characters were likable, had realistic faults and the romance didn't feel forced either. It happened really quick I thought, but then again I met and married my husband within a year so who am I to talk! ^_^ It was pretty well written, a little typical and expected but I enjoyed it and thought it was a good read overall. :)

I really enjoyed reading this book! It gives great examples of some problems that Christians face. It brings up the question "Why do bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people?" This book also brings up the important subject of being unequally yoked. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick and easy read!

Great heat/chemistry between the lead characters! Only thing I did not like about the book was the overload of "churchiness" (and I'm a Christian) - I just don't like it when it feels like it "had to be in there".

God is real

I am a Christian so I truly enjoyed the book. It brought tears to my eyes. It really showed how really good God is if only we surrender to his will. I would recommend this to anyone.

Short book - only 170 pages on my Kindle. I thought it was rather predictable so there was really no suspense in what was going to happen. I'd still recommend it to someone to read though.
