Very informative

Although a very short book it is full of interesting detail of the reign of Edward VII. He was known for his charm and ability to encourage peace among the countries of Europe.

This book is exactly what it says it is: a VERY brief history. I normally like my history more in-depth, but I like the idea of this series.

I noticed a few errors in this one. Some were fairly benign, like a kind Edward instead of a King Edward. Some were a little more serious, like confusing WWI and WWII, and left me wondering how accurate the book as a whole was. Guess I’ll try a real history book next (you know, the type of book that takes more than an hour to read).

Only 44 pages but felt longer due to the choppy writing and odd comments. Reads like an essay written by a bright eleven year old.

19th century ended with Britain fearing falling planes? Overlooking that the Wright Brothers flight occurred in 1903, what does that even mean? Falling planes? Which Edward 'put a stop to'? You'd think Britain would be able to find more to fear at that point, but that is just one of the odd comments in the book. I can pretend that what was meant was that people, trying to learn/develop flight kept crashing, but that doesn't really work in context.

The first years of the 20th century in Great Britain are known as the Edwardian era. It was a time of prosperity and pleasure, of garden parties and full dresses, and a fashionable elite led by King Edward set to influence society and arts.

Edwardian Britain: A Very Brief History is a short and concise book on the Edwardian era, covering topics such as: class and society, food, arts, science and technology and fashion. It provides a fast and easy way to learn about and understand this period of history.

I recommend this book to anyone curious about Edwardian Britain.
