This book is part of the materials provided in a FREE e-Course designed for people starting out in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, available at www.beginningBJJ.com. The goal of this book is NOT to teach you specific techniques - you can learn those from your instructor, your fellow students, and other resources such as books and DVDs. My goal here is to give you a basic framework to help you make sense of all the different techniques you are learning. In essence I am trying to give you a big picture which functions as a kind of filing system to help you learn more efficiently, and to access the correct technique quickly in the heat of battle.
An excellent resource. Seeing as how BJJ is a bit of a "by the seat of your pants" martial art where you are basically taught to swim by getting thrown in the deep end of the pool, it is good, particularly for us nerdier types, to have a basic framework for organizing the somewhat haphazardly collected skills and techniques into some semblance of structure.
I read this one week into jiu jitsu and one year into jiu jitsu. i still suck, but it now makes much more sense than it used to! Will keep coming back to this as it has such clear language and sound advice.
Excellent overview of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This short e-book provides a very helpful general introduction on the flow of the art (sport? practice?) as well as specifics on some foundational moves. Highly recommend. Especially, because it's free.
