If this had not been the last book in the series, which it may be as did not get notification (read on Kindle) of next in series, it would be my last reading. I almost stopped reading about 2-3 through. The prior books in the series were okay, good, quick non-serious reading, but as they moved on more and more seemed to be forced. Quarry jumped the shark with non-sensical plot lines
(SPOILERS: Central police officer to case is shown to be coke addict halfway through, her rookie partner she has worked wtih for one to two weeks suddenly recognizes, happens to be a union rep so she won't get fired and helps her, character in prior books has a kid no one knew about who is central to plot and he goes completely our of character of group going rogue, jumps in logic, etc)
Pages and pages filled with stating same thing just using different sentences, tedious writing.
If this is not the last book in the series it is for me. The first seven peaked with number 6.
A personal pet peeve over the inordinate number of lazy typos; does anyone proofread these things? The cast of characters is very familiar and there is an immediate sense of relief to be engaging with them again. But sadly, plot development is awkward and in some instances downright unbelievable! E.g. what motivated the first vengeance killing? Does not compute. So, despite enjoying the characters again, the holes in the plot reflect a continuing rush to the James Patterson money-printing school of writing. Get some better proofreaders and first readers who won't be afraid to tell you what works and what doesn't. Otherwise there's a serious chance this really fine cast of characters so skillfully developed will be stuffed into the trunk of a luxury car and driven off a cliff!
This was excellent. Along time to wait . But sadness in what happened to Khat and Emily. The notion that kids can't be cruel is understatement. For the way it ended it showed how much Khat loved Melissa and Emily Not to condone the revenge but could be understandable. This opened up Blake and Haeli future. Hopefully there will be another chapter 10 stars 🌟 plus!!! Thanks Carl Clause
This is another story that's almost impossible to put down, a sad beginning, that gets more complicated as it goes on and when you think you have figured out who is responsible, it is another who you're hoping that it's not, the ending is not happy! Great Read, from Great Writers! Gary 🇨🇦
I really liked the way this story unfolds. L.T. Ryan and Gregory Scott write this story leading the reader along a path of deaths to the killer. There are twists and turns along with surprises that keep the attention to see what will happen next! Another great Blake Brier mystery, thriller! Happy reading! ☺️
Another hit from LT Ryan and friends. Every time I see a new book from any of his series I get excited! This one turned out better than expected and with a twist I never would have seen coming!
Recommended for all fans of LT Ryan and associates.
If you have ever lost someone, this story will grip you. I lost a daughter named Emily.
The story takes place in a tiny backwater town. As with all small towns, there is a cross-section of America here. What seems so out of place is one murder after another and the collective minds that pull together to solve the mystery.
Unfortunately this did not live up to expectations when compared to seven books before Book 8. An easy read and the loss of another team mate, it became predictable too early on. Hoping there is a Book 9 that gets back to the pace of earlier versions. Cheers to all.
I thoroughly enjoyed all the books, but this not so much. The story was good. But didn't grip me as other books have done! I found myself skipping pages, which I'd never done before. I'll leave it at that, as I don't want to spoil the read for others.
This book needed at least 10% more room to deal with the weighty plot and some serious character development. Also, please get some better editors. I know these books are less expensive, but the quality of text on its own is abysmal. Too many typos and missing words, etc.
What a sad but amazing story, it was heartbreaking at times, but also riveting, please don’t tell me that this is the last book in the series, no no no there has to be more.
Things keep changing for this band of friends. They add some friends and they lose some. I think life is like that. But they keep pursuing their mission.
SPOILER ALERT. THIS is the first one that truly tricked me. Well done. Great twists really only 2. It does have some familiar themes. A quick enjoyable read. Some sadness. More than most of his books.
