A lifelong lover of horror, science, and speculative fiction, he writes stories that explore the fault lines between reality and whatever lies beyond it. Austin Powell just bought a house in need of some repairs. While working in the cellar, he notices a vile and brazen creature. He vows to rid his home of its presence. Easier said than done....
This was such an engrossing, wildly-entertaining book. Tompkins is a brilliant storyteller who skillfully draws readers straight into story. I felt like I was right there beside poor Austin every step of the way. The gory bits were perfect and, in my opinion, propelled this short story to a solid five-star rating.
Never read anything by Mark Tompkins? What are you waiting for? You're missing out!
This story will definitely keep you wanting to read until you are finished. Great detail, as always with Mark Tompkins thrillers/horrors. Well written. Great short story that most can relate to, the fear of rats. Austin is a great character. Definitely recommended.
