“With the mouth, confession is made into salvation…”

The shocking discovery best friends Leah and Erica have made under Mr. Nolan's bed has them down the wicked path of temptation, both girls veering far from the narrow path dictated by their strict Catholic upbringing, and their sexual transgressions have had unintended consequences.

Bewildered and abandoned, Erica and Mr. Nolan are faced with sadness and confusion at their loss, but while Mr. Nolan spirals into mourning, Erica is determined to find her friend.

Erica can’t possibly know why Leah has vanished, but when she enlists the help of Father Michael, her search and the real reason for Leah's disappearance intersect to uncover a multitude of shocking confessions and a secret that will shake not only the foundation of their faith, but the entire institution of the Catholic Church itself.

*** 3 ***

I wish she had stayed with the mostly light writing and pure porn. In this book there is more of an attempt at plot, with Leah going to an unwed and pregnant mothers home and Erica going through some bizarre stuff with the church and her ex boyfriend... I wanted to kill the priest, so I guess even I have limits of acceptable and not (my hard limit has always been and will always be kids!!! No fear, no such thing in this book)- learned something about myself:) Mostly, I was pissed because it was a mind manipulation from a person everyone should be safe with, I don't know, but it hit my no-no buttons... So, I personally enjoy her writhing when it sticks to the purely erotic and sexy times... The rest is just too much...

The story is taking place in the 50's so many of the things that are addressed have to do with not having the availability of birth control and unwanted pregnancies...

Do not read if you are not into TABOO EROTICA!!!

Not at all what I was expecting. Despite the taboo topic and steamy writing, the first part of this trilogy had a light-hearted vibe. Pure erotic romance.
This second installment really left me feeling down.

Why?

Perhaps I should have waited until I could read all three back to back, but this one did not leave me in a good place. Still, I will plan to finish the trilogy with Grace when it is released next month.

:: 4 Pretty Little Stars ::

This is the second book in the Under Mr. Nolan’s Bed Trilogy. If you haven’t read TEMPTATION yet, do so before reading this one or you’ll be very lost and nothing will make sense. With that being said, this one was not exactly what I was expecting. In Temptation, we mean Leah, Erica, and Mr. Nolan. Each and every one of these characters in THAT book are light hearted, and up to naughty things. Temptation was a purely erotic/taboo romance about a girl who falls in love with her best friend’s father (who may also be her father….).

In the second book CONFESSION, which I am reviewing now, we get a totally different style. Instead of it being light-hearted, fun, and erotically sexy, you get a look at Leah’s life AFTER she leaves the Nolan household because she learns she could in fact be the daughter of Mr. Nolan. From there she is sent to a Catholic home for unwed mothers where she not only fights her own demons but unleashes some as well. This home is not what is seems, and there are some sinister things going on. I don’t want to spoil it so that’s all I will say about that.

While I did enjoy this book (even though the vibe was COMPLETELY different) I really wished it incorporated more of the taboo/naughty things that were incorporated in the first story. Without it, the series doesn’t flow as nicely as it should. Unfortunately for this one, there is probably 1 erotic scene so if this is what you’re looking for just be warned, you will not get what you expected after reading Temptation.

Overall, this is a 4 star read for me. I liked it a lot, but was confused at the total change in the vibe. If this was a story all on its own I think it would have worked better.

NOTE: This is a new review, based on my notes and recollection. Kept holding out hope but seems that the original review is lost forever. Either GR gobbled it up (possible) or I screwed up when writing/saving it (more likely).

“… Erica looked up at her father, placing the last piece of the puzzle, finally seeing the full picture, but it was no bed of roses, no garden, no beautiful beach, this was a clear, dark depiction of hell, and she was living in it. …”

THE SHORT: The above quote sums up CONFESSION quite neatly. Continuing from where the first book, “Temptation”, ended, it has a much darker and twisted storyline, delving into grittier and unpleasant topics ranging from date rape to incomprehensible acts by a parent to religious hypocrisy. But the common theme underlying everything is the shameless and systematic exploitation of vulnerable girls.

My rating reflects the fact that CONFESSION was an unusually emotional read for me. Yes, it was satisfying to finally get the “more” in the Under Mr. Nolan’s Bed (“UMNB”) saga, but there were parts to this book that hit some of my personal triggers rather hard and elicited a visceral response, especially the sexual perversion re: concepts of the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene. So I advise caution to anyone who is devout or sensitive to misconduct by religious figures. Because the Catholic Church is not portrayed in a good light.

THE LONG: As the second (or “bridge”) book in the UMNB trilogy, CONFESSION is not a standalone book. Failure to first read “Temptation” almost guarantees being immediately lost as to the storyline and closure only comes with the third and final book, Grace. In addition, this is not an erotic read, even though there are more than a few scenes of sexual activities, including some “light” f/f. (And TBT, some sexual content may be very off-putting for some readers.)

One could argue that CONFESSION jumped the rails by not resembling UMNB and/or not being erotica. But given that this was a bridge book, I personally liked how Selena Kitt put a fresh spin on CONFESSION. I also liked how it was structured with concurrent yet distinctly separate substories, as told from POVs of Erica and Leah. Both substories are tough to read at times for different reasons and can arouse very strong emotions. But they ring true when considered within the social context of the US in the late 1950s, as well as the fact that, at that time untouched by more recent sex scandals, the Catholic Church and its representatives were generally highly respected and above suspicion.

Erica’s curious journalist side takes her deeper and deeper into long-held secrets involving both the Catholic Church and local populace. She also begins her own taboo relationship with a person deemed off-limits. Meanwhile, Leah has to deal with the consequences of her affair with Rob Nolan but without resources, she is at the mercy of her mother’s decisions. How the two substories and both girls’ experiences slowly wind closer and closer together and ultimately merge towards the end makes for a “can’t put this book down” read, even as I cringed and/or fumed at certain point.

I guessed much of the reveals fairly early on, so I read CONFESSION with alternating feelings of dread and vindication. All in all, a very different book from “Temptation” and very satisfying in that this bridge book was not mere filler but its own book with its own story that also advanced the overall arc of the trilogy.

Now, I need to take a breather before I can move on to “Grace”. TBT, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will be more like #1. :)

*** I received this ebook as an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

When I first started Confession by Selena Kitt, I was afraid I wasn’t gonna like it. I liked the first book, and couldn’t imagine what else she could do on a second and third book. I was amazingly surprised. Selena Kitt did an AMAZING work on Confession. I was reading at the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next, and to whom.
The main characters in Confessions are: Mr. Nolan, Leah, Erica, Father Michael and Father Patrick.

The story starts almost at where Temptation ended. However, this time Leah’s pregnant and discovers Mr. Nolan is her real father. This shatters her world. She is sent to Mary Magdalene Home for Moral Welfare, a place to unwed, pregnant girls to go in order to have their babies and give them up to adoption. However, something plain bad and evil lurks behind all the good façade of the place. Leah and Erica are in the middle of it all, without being the wiser. One person is behind the curtains machinating religious, sexual rituals using God’s names to their own wicked and selfish purposes.
Erica, in the wake of finding one of her mother journals, discovers a world of things that happened in the past and still happens. Involving the church and sex, she intends on making a big story, but soon learns how much her own family is in knee deep with the whole thing.

While Leah’s baby is growing, she’s growing more attached to it, and each day her decision of giving the baby away is changing, but there are people who have invested on the adoption happening. It’s through one of the other pregnant interns that Leah discover about the Mary and Magdalenes. The girls, who are early on marked as saints or whores to be used or worshipped by men in the only place they should be the most protected on: The church.

Confession is as much their story: Leah, Erica and Nolan, as it’s from the past. It all starts way back when Mr. Nolan, his wife and friend –Leah’s mom – are young.

The secrets, the revelations, the dirty, the good, the wrong, the love, the forbidden, the evil, the suffering, and SO MUCH MORE. This was a GREAT read. Every time I read an Selena’s Kitt book, I’m surprised. This woman knows her stuff. Can’t help but rate it a 5 Stars.

I honestly don't know what happened here but I was so disappointed. It's as if Selena Kitt had a case of literary laryngitis. The voice she honed in Under Mr. Nolan's Bed 1 is noticeably absent. Then there is the jarring change of time and social norms. Add to that the strange morality tale tacked onto what was otherwise sizzling erotica. I kept waiting for it to get better but it didn't.

I received my copy of this book from the author and rated it 4.5 stars.

This was a very good book. Not at all what I expected, but very good indeed. Usually when you read a trilogy, the first book is a pretty good indication of what all three books are going to be like and about. This trilogy is a bit different. Don’t get me wrong; there is no doubt that this is the second part of the same story. There is continuity both in story-line and in character development. However, whereas the first book was a highly erotic description of sexual discovery, be it with a somewhat controversial story-line, this second book is far less erotic. The sexual scenes found in this book are fewer in number, not really all that erotic and far more shocking and controversial than those in “Temptation”. It is difficult to say a lot about exactly what is happening in this book without giving away too much of the story. What I can say is that there was a lot in this book to break my heart and make me angry. And most of my anger was due to the fact that everything described here was so believable that I had to turn to Google to find what part of the story was based on fact and which parts were purely fictional.

It is impossible to read this book and not think about the recent scandals involving the Catholic Church here in Ireland. It isn’t too long ago that the reports on the treatment of women in the “Magdalene Laundries” were published. With Leah having been sent to Magdalene House, the parallels are strong. Very strong indeed, because wouldn’t you know it, Magdalene House also contains a laundry where the girls who can’t knit or sew are put to work. Though why I thought that those places might have been uniquely Irish is beyond me. After all, the Roman Catholic Church is a worldwide organization and as such its institutions would be too.

I have to compliment Selena Kitt on the way in which she made the journeys of both Leah and Erica realistic and convincing. Separated from each other they discover the same secrets. Alone they have to go through their own personal hells, struggle with questions, secrets and devastating events. Two very young women find themselves in the clutches of a powerful institution determined to have them do as ordered, regardless of what their personal wishes might be. My only, minor, objection is that there was one secret Erica, clever as she is, should and could have figured out earlier.

I’m glad I already have the third book, Grace, in my possession. The title of that book gives me some indication of what the book will be about, but I have no idea what sort of book to expect. Will there be a return to the erotica of the first book, is the story about to turn into a full blown thriller, could it be a combination of those two or something else again? I like it when an author keeps me guessing, and Miss Kitt certainly does that.

After a shocking secret is revealed about Mr. Nolan in the end of Temptation, Leah vanishes and Erica sets out to discover what happened to her best friend. What she ends up unearthing in the process are dark, scandalous secrets behind the Catholic Church and her family's startling involvement in all of it as she becomes tangled in its twisted, intricate web of lust and power.

In the first book Leah clearly stole the spotlight, but in Confession I was far more intrigued by Erica's story and her sweet yet heartbreaking love for Father Michael. And, unlike Temptation, which was filled with raunchy erotic smut, Confession reads more like a dark religious thriller. And while this is a work of fiction, I wouldn't be at all surprised if secret society's, like the Mary Magdalene's, truly exist within the Catholic Church.

My heart broke for Leah at the end of this book, and I am eager to start the next one. I honestly did not expect to enjoy this series as much as I have, or for it to be so well-written and multi-layered in plot and character, but this unraveling mystery has me positively hooked.

Not knowing what to expect in the third and final installment of Under Mr. Nolan's Bed which, so far, has exceeded all expectations, I'm anxious to start Grace.

I'm giving this 4 stars because of the writing not because I liked the content. This is probably why I don't mix religion in with my smut reading.

This was a dark time in history when females had very few options; before somewhat reliable birth control and having a choice and the hypocrisy of condemning unwed girls/women yet turning this into a very lucrative profit-making machine for the church. It's an interesting take on what has been going on in the news regarding the far reach of the Church.

Leah has been sent off to a maternity home and Erica finds her mother's secret journals and learns about the secret society. So many secrets and lies.

Thank goodness, Grace (Under Mr. Nolan's Bed, #3) by Selena Kitt came through so definitely read this. This is a good history lesson for all of us, a time before we could actually make decisions about own body and rights we take for granted - at least before it's outlawed or eliminated in more states. Just my opinion. :)

After the shocking conclusion of Temptation, I had no idea where this story would go next. It turns out Mr. Nolan's loft isn't the only place harboring secrets. The church may have the most shocking secrets of all. At the beginning of Confession, Leah is being transferred from the nunnery she's be hiding at to The Magdalene House: a place for unwed mothers to be. If finding out that her first love may also be her father seemed bad, discovering she's pregnant by him is a fate worst than hell. But despite everything, Leah still loves him and loves her unborn baby. Meanwhile Erica and her father are heartbroken at Leah's disappearance, and Erica stumbles upon more secrets in her mother's diaries. Her inner journalist wants nothing more to bring the church's dark secrets to light, but she doesn't realize just how involved she really is.

Confession is very different from Temptation. For starters, the focus is on the actual story. There is very little sex involved, but what is included is even more shocking. I don't want to give away too much, but if you think you'll be offended by priests and nuns behaving in ways that are not wholesome in any way, stay away from Confession. Erica learns about a secret society that meets below her church and uses her amateur sleuthing skills to find out more. She definitely learns more than she bargained for. A whole of secrets involving her, her parents, Leah, and her mother are revealed. One more shocking than the next.

I didn't enjoy Confession quite as much as Temptation, but I still liked it a lot. It's dark and twisted, just how I like it. There's some seriously depraved stuff happening, and there's some heartbreak at the end. I was a little disappointed in some of the things revealed, but I think they'll be necessary to move Leah and Mr. Nolan's story forward. And hopefully get them their much deserved happy ending.

I have to keep reminding myself that this is a story. However, with the horror stories that have been in the news in recent years and come from people incarcerated into children's homes and physically, emotionally and sexually abused, then homes for unmarried mothers where mother's were coerced into signing their babies away and all perpetuated and controlled by the institution of the Roman Catholic faith and run by priests, monks and nuns, then this story has more relevance now.

I hope the sick society of perverts was just a story by Selena Kitt, however, I could believe it as a reality somewhere in the world, by the repressed and supposed celibate priesthood that goes against all that is natural.
The fact that for those of the catholic faith their church is their law, sacrosanct and absolute, and I honestly pity them.

I cried and broke my heart for Leah and friends in that awful home. The medical personnel were a disgrace, and bordered on perversion, no dignity or privacy there to be sure.
Yet in all there was one goodly and kindly priest and friend of Erica and helper of them.
Leah's mother I could slap and spit in her face. Evil, evil bitch of a woman.
The social worker, well I have seen one like her in action...forcing girls into signing their babies away despite wanting to keep them with the wickedest of threats, including being prevented by courts of keeping any future children if they don't sign over. This book is not so far fetched.

I have to read Grace, as this book has left me torn and ragged, an emotional washout. It has been an absolute emotional roller coaster and well done Selena Kitt for this, which I think has to be her best works ever, certainly that I have ever read. Shame so much truth lies within it. Such that countless women have had to live with their lives through.

This is set in the late fifties or early sixties and the historical side is very good and accurately reflected.

It has to be 5 stars despite my upset of content.

This is even more twisted than Under Mr. Nolan's Bed. It depicts rape, suicide, secret church society which is all about sex and even kidnapping.

It was too much, even for me. I'm not going to rate it because I'm still not sure what to say.

Note: There wasn't any incest this time, or should I say .

I'm only slightly scandalized😶 as a Catholic Schoolgirl...But I like it!!!👀

The premise of the story is so imaginative that as you read it you can't help but wonder if it has ties to non fictional events..

No spoilers from me so I'll say the characters are deep and well thought out and the secrets juicy!

All types of tea☕ was spilt...old 1950s tea!!

The ending I was hoping for... clenching my ass cheeks together for was excellent but a cliffy all the same. 😢

I know I know stop my complaining and download the next book already...I did because I have to know what happens!!! 📖

You can read this review on my blog here.
You will also find many other reviews, the other reviews are probably more coherent than this one. No promises though.

This book, for me, proved that Selena Kitt is more that just an erotica writer.

I always knew that Selena Kitt could write a story that was about more than the sex, but this book, it just proved it to me. Probably because there was less sex...

This book...wow.

How could...what...but...no. That's how I feel about this book and a few of its events.

Some things made me joyous, but they were also bitter sweet. Most things made me sad.

I was predicting a little bit of what happened in the beginning, but I was expecting nothing else. I mean...this book. I really love this book, but it has made me so sad.
Also, I cannot wait for the last book. I know it comes out later this month, but does anybody know the specific date because I want it as soon as I can get my hands on it!

It was almost guaranteed that I would I love this book. I have loved most of Selena Kitt's works, well the ones I have have read. I have also loved all of the versions of Under Mr Nolan's Bed that I've read, even if some were a little shocking. (I still have to read Plaid Skirt Confessions, I think that's what it's called...)
I have wanted a sequel to the first book for so long. Or it feels like so long, but really I only found out this was originally going to be a trilogy a few months ago. Even then I only stumbled upon it again accidentally.
It's only because Selena Kitt is on my auto-buy-authors list that I found out about this series again, and oh my, am I glad I did!

So guys, I know I was supposed to be on a book buying ban, and it is in full force now, after I purchased this book, but, yes, I did break the book buying ban for this book. I just couldn't help myself.
Can you really blame me?

All right. I'm rambling, and not so much about the book. I should stop that.

Okay, so if you haven't read the first book in this series, Temptation, then what are you waiting for! You need to buy a copy ASAP.
And, if you've read the first book but are unsure about buying the sequel, maybe because of that ending? You need not worry, because I promise you that this book is worth your time.

So, I wasn't around in the '50s, heck, I wasn't around in the '80s, let alone the '50s, but this book, this series, I feel like it takes me back to that time. How things were much more difficult for women. And all sorts of people.
It's so sad some of the things that happen, just because men had more power. There are certainly a few characters I would love to punch in the face. Joan... Oh, I hated her the most. Can I just wring my hand around her neck? Please?

We see that characters develop a lot more in this book too. We find out much more about them. And, that just made me love them more and made me feel for them more.

There are many intriguing things going on too. So much is happening and yet...there's so much more we need to find out, which is why I cannot wait for that last book. I may just have to rock back and forth staring at a wall until I get it. I'll be chanting "I need the book now. I need the book now." until it goes live!

Selena Kitt, I'm just, I'm going to have to applaud your work once again. Books like these are why you are on my auto-by-author and favourite-author lists on Goodreads.

P.S. Please release the next book ASAP so I don't go crazy... Although I have to wait until I get paid, so release on the day I get paid... That'll be perfect.

Ignore that last bit. I can go crazy over books and things occasionally. (All the time... I can just hide it better most of the time...)

Authors like Selena Kitt are why people break their personal book buying bans.
If you are ever going to read a Selena Kitt book, or just one of her series. Pick this series, pick Temptation up. Maybe you'll come to love Selena Kitt just as much as I do. (see above review for proof of this love.)

Uhh, let me tell you what happened. Or not, because you will consider me as a spoiler, but whatever. After of what happened on Temptation, Leah realized one man that she ultimately loved was her father (and also her best friend's father). Her mother herself dropped the bomb when she was debating Rob about the relationship he had with her daughter. I know the outcome of what they did. They had an unprotected sex (why they didn't use condom I had no idea), and I was wondering if it will affect their relationship. And I was right all along.

Well, technically it's not affecting their relationship, but her mother disapproval changed everything. She sent Leah to a maternal house, apparently the church owned that house. She was treated as if she did an unspeakable, vile thing that made all the nuns in there treated them like shit. Not only her, but all the women were treated like that.

She was forced to put her baby to adoption, and she hesitated on that idea. At first she wanted to. She even wanted her baby to be dead. But as the time went along, she had bonded with all the women in there whom had the same situation as hers. She saw the new light of having a baby.

Other than that, we get to see from Erica's viewpoint. In here, she tried to unravel the secret of the church. She got the glimpse of it after she read her mother's diaries. To unravel this secret, she had to follow the tide and while trying to solve this mystery she cooperated with Father Michael. From there, they relationship grew into something that is really...impossible to happen. But I would love to see more of it. The more complicated the story is, the juicier the story gets. Yumm.

That secret happened to be the pasts of Leah and Erica's mothers. I found it like a satanic ritual that is really unholy. It was the dark secret of the church. And both of them stumbled into it, whether they like it or not.

I just realized the difference of the timeline between the this book and the 1st! I mean, that’s what I was thinking. Because I noticed on the 1st book, Leah and Erica wanted to watch the #clearingthroat# movie using tape and VCR. And also I believe on 50’s or 60’s, there were no such thing as vibrators. But please tell me if you think the timeline of this book is not 50’s or 60’s. Probably 70’s? But for some point, I think the content really match with the timeline. Pregnancy out of wedlock considered taboo (still continue until now, for some cultures).

I didn’t even know Mr. Nolan’s job on the 1st book, but there was a brief clue when he said he probably late because of tax season, so he was a tax guy or something. And in this book, Mr. Nolan’s job was an artist, and we got his physical description. Yep, he was a piece of hotness. But from all those differences, the stories still relate to each other. Still, the timeline really weird me out. Maybe because I've read the different version.

While reading this book, I felt Leah's despair and Erica's struggle. I missed of what happened with them from the 1st book. Ehhm, the story will make you nasty and really bothered, in the good way. But so far, I liked it and really enjoyed it. I really want to see the end of it all.

I'm ready for Grace now.

Philandering priest, naughty nuns and teenage trollops are the themes of this book. With a title like "confessions", it conjures up dirty little secrets similar to the HBO series "Taxi Ride Confessions". Ms. Kitt doesn't disappoint in her deviant disclosures.

This second book threw me a little with the first chapter. The last time the readers saw Leah, she was shocked by her mother's reveal to Mr. Nolan. In this one, Leah is in a delicate condition which requires her to be whisked away at night.

Ms. Kitt does a good job of showing how females who don't follow societal rules are treated. It's a bit extreme and yet in some ways, it was a lesson for other females - lesson in "what not to do". One can't help but contrast how females were treated in the 50s to how it is in this new century. With the onslaught of trashy reality shows, what was once shameful is a ticket to fifteen minutes of fame. The pendulum of societal dictation now swings to the extreme in the opposite direction of the 1950s. I'm not pushing for either behaviours; I wonder if there isn't a way where it can be in a happy medium.

Philosophical pondering aside, this book is laced with taboo temptations. It is not filled with arousing sex. On a scale of one to five for sexual heat, this is one. This is a shame since Ms. Kitt's claim to fame is her delicious sexual heat and gritty scenes. Her earlier stories were simple and perhaps categorized as plot fluffy. In this new series, her writing voice and ability is definitely better yet it is missing that teasing fun sexual heat. While the plot is more meaty, her characters are a little less appealing. Perhaps in the next installment the reader will be treated to hot sex, engaging characters and a great plot.

The big bombshell in this story is a secret society within the Catholic church - Mary Magdalenes. This conspiracy theory is intriguing at best and at worse, blasphemous. It is a good thing it is 2013 instead of the 50s. Ms. Kitt would have been in a lot of trouble for her portrayal of the Catholic Church. Her penance would include more than Hail Marys or Our Fathers. Perhaps it would include quite the caning and flogging.

This little secret society is lightly touched on and if it were expanded into its own little story, now that would be taboo and hot. There are always conspiracy theories about Mary Magdalene because of her connection with Jesus. There will always be people who will vilify her just as those who will portray her as a kick ass Buffy warrior (Magdalena).

Overall the story is well written. This balances my distaste in the characters and my lack of surprise at the big reveal. I called the plot twist in my last review of the first book. It's nice to see I'm still able to predict a plot device accurately. This book is for those who want to glimpse a plausible Catholic wild side.

**WARNING** If you are offended or upset by priests and nuns not being completely upstanding people, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK!!

I just finished Confession. It's not anything like the first book Temptation. It's dark, twisty and not very pretty. It paints a ghastly picture of unwed pregnant women and the things they faced. It's harsh. It's brutal. It will make you cry and cringe!!!

All that being said, it's important that Leah and Erica go through these things in order to gain a new understanding on their lives. What that understanding is, I have yet to figure out. I feel it will all be revealed in the last book Grace.

My heart is breaking for Leah right now. I cannot imagine the horrors that she's gone through or how she will get through it. She's been betrayed by the one person on this earth that should love her and protect her NO MATTER WHAT!

This tale is not an erotic tale. It's a tale of deception, lies, greed, and heartache.

I enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to the next one. I do have to admit, I found Erica's part of the story much more interesting in this one. At least until the end. Then Leah's story took over again.

I'm very curious to see how this gets resolved. And do they finally get their HEA?

*******MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS******

Fan-taboo-ulous!! This story goes well out of the realms of what is considered normal or accepted.
Love can change people. Live can put people into situations they are ill prepared to handle.
Leah finds herself in this very predicament. She is taken away from everything and everyone she loves.
She misses Erica terribly. She can't stop thinking about Mr. Nolan and if he knows what had happened to her.
Leah is forced to deal with or handle get issue alone. Luckily she isn't completely alone. She does form some close bonds with others like her. Others that are in the family way but without the family. The roller coaster beginnings.
I was genuinely shocked when the book took more of a turn towards Erica. I liked this. Erica was dealing with a ton too. Best of all she never gave up on Leah. Erica delves into a taboo world of secret societies, intentional infertility, sex, lies, and the Catholic Church.
When Erica and Leah first opened the door to Mr. Nolans secret rooms, they had no idea the doors that would get busted open in the process.
Lies and secrets hide behind concessions and habits. No one is who they seem or pretend to be. Erica uncovers major secrets that involve her while simply trying to help and locate Leah.
It's a whirlwind of emotions and Selena does a fantastic job keeping you drawn in.
I started reading Confession tonight and couldn't put it down till it was finished. Now gleefully on to Grace.
Happy reading everyone.

I don't think I could have been more surprised by where this story went. Evil and corrupt Catholic Church, not that it shocked me, but for Leah's mother to take her the Magdalene house to have her baby. Convincing Leah she was having a baby that was a product of incest. Leah hating herself for thinking she's still in love with her own father. To the elicit Catholic Mary Magdalene society.

You can't help but feel for the girls at the Magdalene house. Not given any choices, forced into the humiliating doctors exams and sessions with the ghoul. The housework and needlework is almost a luxury and a good thing for the girls.

Eric and her stealthy skills are just funny. However, when she goes so far as to be initiated into the Mary Magdalene's society and everything she does to keep going for her story and find out answers. You can't help but wonder what is really going through Erica's head. Especially when we find out that not only was Erica essentially fucked over and over again, but that they drugged her before hand so she couldn't even really remember it.

I cried when the ghoul lied to Leah and stole her baby. I mean really, did you have to do that???!!! But it was awesome when Erica comes in and can tell her that Rob isn't her dad, that they can be together.

I couldn't wait to read the third one.

3 Stars for all three books of Under Mr. Nolan’s Bed series – Temptation, Confession, & Grace

I started this series knowing this was erotica but I was surprised with this story. The story covers incest, rape, F/F and the taboo relationship between a young woman and her best friend’s father. But what is really disturbing is the use of the Catholic church as the culprit for some twisted and perverse behavior. As a warning this will upset some readers. But don’t expect pages and pages of sex scenes. There is a story that I found interesting (even though it became predictable) and I read all three books in 2 days. I thought the writing was good but I thought the dual POVs in Confession and Grace were sometimes confusing. This is because the time frame would jump from the present time for Leah then to previous days for Erika. It’s just a quirk of mine that I prefer the POVs to be told in the same time so the story flows smoother. I also did not like the ending and thought it was such a letdown.

Overall this was good and shocking. This series is perfect for fans of erotica looking for a story of mystery and controversy.

I must admit, after reading some of the reviews, I was hesitant. But after taking some good advice to read it, and decide for yourself, I did.
First off, this is not the kind of erotica that the author is famous for. In fact, there's very little erotica in it.
What the secret society does is not erotic, it's ritualized rape.
After Temptation, this is a hard, tough, and unflinching look at the Church in the 1950's, and the power they wielded, and the stinking corruption that they were allowed to get away with, because they were the supposed Men of God. And the girls who were treated like whores, just because they got pregnant out of wedlock. It may be a work of fiction, but I think that a lot of the observations of that time, that era, and the church corruption are right on the money.
It's hard, and brutal, but that was the way it was back then.
Selena Kitt delivers body blows with this one, once I started reading, I couldn't stop.
And I was pleased to see that two of my scenarios were correct.

If you have read part 1, steel yourself for part 2, it's a bumpy ride.

Book 2 – I understand why Leah felt that she had to hide. Personally, I would have confronted my mother for her lie from all those years. BUT Leah was raised in the Catholic faith to respect your elders and believe that they never lie to you. So she goes into hiding like any other unmarried mother until the baby is born. She also believes that her mother will give Rob the note explaining where she is. Though we are a reader know that will not happen! I feel bad that Erica and Rob have no idea why or where Leah has gone. They are left searching and trying to go on. But both are mourning for her. Erica has discovered that there is a secret society and being the detective type person that she is...she has to investigate it. She is asked to join and does so with the idea that she will expose them. Until she learns that it will be harder to do because of the others who are also involved. While on this path, Erica falls in love with Father Micheal but nothing can come from that. Selena does a wonderful job getting the readers emotions involved with the characters!

Surprisingly good!

The story is really picking up, and the plot really flourishes now that it's more than just Leah's love for Mr. Nolan.
It is a weird trilogy though. The first book felt like standard erotica with incest taboo. The second book has abandoned most of the erotic stuff in favor of drama and mystery - and it really just makes the story better. I wonder what the third book is going to be like...

The only points of criticism I really have, is that it feels a bit slow-going. It's not a long book at all, but considering how few major events there are, then you're reading quite a few page to get through them.
There are also some scenes that are just soul-breaking to read. And considering the fact that I went into this series expecting a sweet, naughty erotic story, it's quite something else to be dropped into a story covering the catholic church, all its depravity, and all the misery and misfortune of its victims.

Well, off to start on the last book in the series.

I couldn't take my eyes off this book

It's was broken hearted book. Too many secrets can hurt a persons. Love can come in all kinds of fashion. Love can be forbidding? But never forget how to love. Choices we make in life we have to live with them. It's what makes us and we are only human!!

Book Review
Title: Confession by Selena Kitt (Under Mr. Nolan’s Bed Book 2)
Genre: Erotic, Romance
Rating: 5 Stars
After reading Temptation more than once and despite the shocking reveal at the end I have never continued with the series and I am finishing it now since there are only three books totalling less than 700 pages. Confession definitely had a much darker opening with Leah being taken to a nunnery by her mother and Father Michael since she is pregnant with Rob’s baby, who also happens to be Leah’s father. Some might know nunnery’s at this time would take the babies of young women and illegally adopt them out and I hope this isn’t the case for Leah since this girl has been through enough already but she is now going to be spending until December, when she’s due, in the nunnery under the false name of Lily.
Leah did give her mother a letter for Rob but I doubt she will deliver it because she has already claimed that Leah is going to a dance school in New York. Erica and Rob are both heartbroken by Leah’s disappearance but the story her mother came up with doesn’t hold since Rob has already been to the school where Leah is meant to be and she isn’t there. Erica isn’t going to give up and begins looking for her friend wherever she can, meanwhile, Leah seems to be noticing things like how all the baby clothes they make are taken away and sold meaning that their babies might be taken but she hasn’t realised this yet. Leah is quite far along it seems as it is September and she’s due in December making her about 6 months pregnant which checks out since she can feel her baby moving and she knows it’s a girl who will be a dancer like her. The question I have is can Rob and Erica find Leah before the worst happens.
The question Leah’s father is still up in the air as her mother might have been lying when she claimed Rob was Leah’s father in order to stop the relationship and wedding between them since Rob proposed in the last book but I am not sure yet. Erica through reading her mother’s diaries learns of a secret society within the school and is invited to join it by Father Patrick. Erica is sure the society has something to do with sexual acts since her mother heavily implies it and she overhears a conversation between her father and Father Patrick. This conversation implies her father knows about the society and made a deal with Father Michael in order to keep Erica out of it. She now has collected most of the pieces to solve the puzzle of Leah’s disappearance, however, she isn’t sure how they all fit together so she turns to Father Michael for help since she knows he knows where Leah is and we know he was the one that informed her mother of Leah’s pregnancy and he agrees to help her since he wants to know what this secret society is as well.
We bounce bath and forth between these storylines as Leah is keeping the identity of her baby’s father a secret even though she is being pressured into giving the child up for adoption. When Father Michael visits her she does tell him that Rob is the father and her mother claimed that he is also Leah’s father and Father Michael promises to look into it for her. Meanwhile, Erica is diving deeper into the secret society but also seems to be developing an attraction to Father Michael after he comforts her when a boy rapes her. In October, the first girl Leah became friends with gives birth and another explains to her about the society and actually invites her to the ceremony, meanwhile, Erica is falling deeper into the society “servicing” Father Patrick in order to prove herself worthy and obedient to him.
When the day arrives for the ceremony, Leah decides to sneak into the private area by using a mask one of the other girls left behind. There she learns that everything she was told is true but she also realises that Erica is one of the Mary’s and her father is there as well although both don’t seem to recognise each other because of the masks prompting Leah to flee and Marty’s waters break. With less than 50 pages left in the novel I wasn’t sure how this is going to end but it is definitely going to have a reunion between Erica, Leah and Rob although whether it will be a happy one remains to be seen as Leah is only a month or so away from giving birth herself. Despite wanting to keep the babies she learn the only way she can do that is if she pays the nuns back for everything which is over $1000 which she doesn’t have. The society also has payments $10,000 for every girl that willing gives up her baby and the Mary’s like Erica are taken care of for the rest of their lives.
The finale sees Leah going into labour and delivering a little girl she names Grace all by herself, however, she is tricked into signing the adoption papers as they take Grace away. Help is on the way in the form of Erica, Rob and Father Michael who are coming to her aid. Erica and Rob have to talk since his blood type is AB- negative meaning he can’t be Leah or Erica’s father. Rob explains that Susan couldn’t have children and they adopted Erica but that doesn’t change anything. Upon arriving at the hospital they learn what has happened and try to chase down the Sister taking Grace but they are unsuccessful, Rob takes Erica and Leah home with the promise that they won’t stop until they bring Grace home where she belongs.

Reviewed by PussnBooks.net Reviewing the darkest erotic books we can find.

In the name of the wee man!  I am feeling so many things right now I can barely even write.  Most of all though I am furious.

I know it went on, I know so many young women were treated this badly.  Growing up in Scotland in the ’70’s and 80’s, I was always threatened by the priests and nuns but, reading this...it’s left me feeling sick and furious.

My hat is off to Selena Kitt. You have done an amazing job in this book in capturing the atrocities committed against these women by the catholic church and anyone else involved.

I am so glad that, in this country at least, it is no longer this way. My heart broke for these judged women and their heartache and needless shame.

LEAH- Oh, my poor wee doll. You have gone through so much and yet there is more to come.

So, her nasty mother has told her that her baby is going to be a monstrosity and an abomination and that if she weren’t Catholic that she would have had her abort it.

Poor Leah is pregnant with the love of her life’s baby. Which is normally a good thing but...her mother decided to drop the bomb that Mr Nolan is actually her father. So yeah…

She is sent to this awful place where “women who have gotten themselves in trouble”, go to have their babies and then give them up to the nuns there so that they can be given up for adoption.

Of course, the church gets a nice amount of money for that.  ARG! I am so angry.

Some of the young women in there want to keep their babies but are shamed into giving them up against their will.

The way the nuns and doctors treat her leaves me just horrified.

“It’s going to hurt a hell of a lot more before you’re done.  Guess you should have thought about that before you spread your legs in the first place.” - Doctor

“You’re sick.  You’re all sick in the head.  You got pregnant because you wanted attention.  That’s disturbed abnormal behaviour. And any girl who would do so is unfit to raise a child.” - The Counsellor

ROB - Rob is horrified when he hears that he is actually Leah’s father but he is still very much in love with her.

When she disappears he goes searching across the country looking for her. I feel so bad for him in this book.  What a horrible situation to be in.

ERICA- We learn a lot more about Erica in book two, and it gets freakin’ intense.

She’s fallen onto something that she wishes she really hadn’t but, of course, she can not stop herself from digging deeper.

She finds out some terrible truths and more about her parents and the role models in her life and is shocked to the core.  So was I! Like, holy shit! Did this kind of stuff really happen? It would not surprise me if it did, to be honest.

Anyway, Erica is all fucked up, and you’re gonna feel just awful for her.

There is one silver lining however...shit gets steamy with someone she cares for deeply, that’s all I’m gonna say ‘bout that, lol.

SEX SCENES - Ok, I know I’m all about the erotica and in the first book I was all wet and stuff but, this book didn’t have much in the way of sex at all.  A couple of steamy scenes but that was it. And I don’t even care.

I was so caught up in this poor girls life that I needed to read the whole thing through and I’ve already started book three, lol.

FINAL THOUGHTS - I would love to say I enjoyed this book but, I can’t really use that word. It touched my heart and got my blood boiling. It affected me so much I just can’t even.

You might have noticed that I seem to have taken this rather personally, lol. I have some of my own terrible experiences with the church and It would seem that I am not over that yet!

This book has affected me for quite a few days, lol, so if that’s what you like, then this is a must.

This most certainly does not have a HEA.

OMFG what did I tell you? They didn't use condoms in book 1, so of course, Leah got pregnant. (I realize now maybe they don't use condoms because they're part of the Catholic Church, which doesn't believe in.)

I liked the whole camaraderie of the unwed to-be moms at the Magdalene House, but found the whole operation distasteful. Having a pregnancy while being unmarried isn't ideal, but isn't a sin. This book just reminded me why I don't like the Catholic Church. Disgusting how they would force the girls to give up their babies so they would make money. And since the girls were young, they probably were forced by their parents to go to to the House, where they are taken advantage of a bit.

I was thinking to myself, how is there going to be any way out of this for Leah to keep her baby? There's no way.
