Kulakkattil Geevarghese George (born on May 24, 1946 in Thiruvalla, Travancore) is an Indian film maker and screenwriter who worked in the Malayalam Cinema. He was the founder of a new school of film making in Malayalam cinema, along with Bharathan and P. Padmarajan, in the 1980s, which created groundbreaking films that were widely received while also being critically acclaimed. Known for his unconventional works, George is considered to be one of the directors who revolutionized Malayalam cinema in the 1970s and 80s, who is also regarded as one of the greatest film makers of Malayalam Cinema of all time.
This is the autobiography of K.G.George with a foreward by Adoor Gopalakrishnan and afterward by C.V.Balakrishnan. It's a very short book and 24 pages of photos. As Adoor mentioned in foreward K.G.George should have much more valuable memories than he has shared. The book is touching on his early life, institute days, Madras days before his first movie and then one chapter for each of his movies. Then finally a few chapters on the people who had great influence and respect from him like Bharat Gopi etc.
I think the book is written after George had stroke, so the book was first recorded in audio and written in book form by M.S.Ashokan. You can see that the book is suffering a bit from George's health condition. Yet, it provides insight into the movie making process and the life of people working in the background too.
