The gang is back and I feel right at home with the cast of characters. I can hardly wait for my next action packed adventure as I finally learn about Dylan’s Irish past and what drove him into Vicki’s arms.

It starts out with a bit of remote viewing that leads Vicki to tell Sam they must rescue the missing agent…NOW.

I love when he pulls down the dilapidated garage…redneck style.

Then Dylan finds you can’t run from your past and it’s off to Ireland and it will be a family affair, Vicki and Brenda are coming too. Brenda is more than a handful…and trust…I don’t think she knows the meaning of the word.

The confrontation outside the cottage was deadly…and funny. Stay away from Vicki when she is armed with a gun. Her aim is so bad…

“You gonna mow us down like Bonnie and Clyde? And Bonnie?”

Vicki and Dylan’s love deepens and he does know the meaning of romance. Swoon worthy.

Vicki’s abilities have grown and changed, putting her in even more danger.

Nonstop action and mystery with some historical facts and humor that makes this an unputdownable, nail biting romantic suspense that left me with that OOOOO, he’s so cute, I want one of those feelings.

This may be my favorite one yet.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Dylan’s Song by P M Terrell.

I received a complimentary copy of this book as a part of a book tour in exchange for a fair and honest review. I rated it 4 out of 5 Stars:

The fourth book in the Black Swamp Mysteries, Dylan's Song by P.M. Terrell, apparently picks up after the events of the previous book, Secrets of a Dangerous Woman, left off. Not having read any of the previous books in this series, I did feel as if I was at a disadvantage while reading this book. I wasn't really able to connect with the main characters, Dylan Maguire, Vickie Boyd, and Brenda Carnegie, like I normally do while reading a romantic suspense and that put me at a disadvantage. That said, I did enjoy reading Dylan's Song and plan to go back and read the first three books in this series and then re- read this book.

Assigned to locate a missing CIA operative, Dylan Maguire is reluctant to return to his native country of Ireland. Given no choice, he heads to the country of his birth with a two fold plan, locate the missing agent and visit his dying grandmother. The action begins the minute Dylan gets off the plane and he soon finds himself, and his companions, up to their necks in action.

Psychic spy, and Dylan's girlfriend, Vickie Boyd hasn't been able to get Dylan to open up about his reasons for not wanting to go to Ireland. Keeping a secret of her own, Vickie wants to locate the missing agent, meet Dylan's family and then return home. It's only when they get to Ireland and strange things begin to happen, that Vickie begins to understand Dylan's reluctance to return.

Accompanying Dylan and Vickie on their mission is exciting for Brenda, Vickie's sister. Determined to be helpful, something that doesn't always work out the way she plans, Brenda soon finds herself neck deep in folklore, superstition and psychic phenomena. Fortunately Vickie is there to help keep them all safe.

Blending historical facts from World War I, World War II and Irish history, Ms. Terrell draws us into complex plot with lots of action, terror and hidden evil. Dylan, Vickie and Brenda soon find themselves fighting kidnappers, the Irish countryside and the local weather. Will they locate the agent before one of them takes a fatal bullet? You'll have to read Dylan's Song to find out.

This story is very good. The first chapter of this book is very gripping. Vicki has psychic powers, a special gift of being able to see ghosts through the veil to the other side. Dylan and Vicki are a couple who have a good relationship but it is soon put through an extreme test with their next assignment. Both are government agents, whose next assignment is to go to Dylan’s home, in Ireland, to rescue another agent who has been taken hostage. Dylan refuses to go but won’t explain why. It’s when he hears that his grandma is dying that Vicki is able to convince him that they need to go. They get back to his hometown in time for his grandmother to meet Vicki before she dies. Dylan who does not want to share his childhood with Vicki, is sent into a bit of a tail spin when his past comes back to haunt him. He’s not the only one harboring secrets though, Vicki wants to tell him hers but knows that he won’t do the mission if he finds out. So she keeps quiet. Dylan and two other agents find the dungeon in an impossible place, thanks to Vicki’s gift of seeing. Without it they’d have never found it otherwise. The rescue goes awry and Dylan is forced to confront his past.

I enjoyed this book. I found myself rooting for Vicki to not only tell Dylan her secret but to also get Dylan to tell her his secret about his childhood. To not give up on him. There are some interesting twists and humor that added to the story.

This book left me wanting more, which is good as this is part of a series. A really interesting read. This is the first book I’ve read by P.M. Terrell but I will definitely be looking for more.

This book was given to me for a review but the opinion is all mine.

"The mists of Ireland were something alive, something that could soothe a man's soul or destroy it; something that cloaked a man when he wanted to be hidden or obscured that which he needed to see. It could soak into the bones on the coldest of days or sweeten the skin in the warmest of hours." ...pg 276 of Dylan's Song

I think that the above quote from the end of Dylan's Song pretty much describes most of the story. Dylan's Song is the fourth in the series "Black Swamp Mysteries". The bogs of Ireland have always been one of the most mystical places in Ireland I think, because no one really knows what secrets the bogs may hold. One of these secrets is the premise of the story. Dylan is a CIA operative and he and Vicki, who is a CIA spy with psychic abilities, are sent on a mission to Ireland to rescue a man who is somehow hidden in the bogs, a victim of a kidnapping. Dylan does not want to ever go back to Ireland because of past events in his life. He probably would not have gone back either if it was not for the fact that his grandmother was dying. So along with Vicki and her sister, Brenda, they are headed to Ireland. The mission is fraught with danger as the bogs can be a very dangerous place. There are other dangers of course waiting for Dylan and he does his best to keep his secrets from Vicki, but Vicki has a secret of her own.

Dylan's Song is an exciting mystery that has romance, danger, modern technology along with the beauty of Ireland and it's culture that will please any reader who has read the previous three books in the series or even if you haven't like me. I loved the suspense and the wonderful love between Dylan and Vicki and the snarkiness of Brenda. I could just picture the village portrayed in the story and feel the the mists and smell the peat from the bogs. I highly recommend this series.

I received a copy for review and was not monetarily compensated for my review.

Jump right into the action from the first page! I expected excitement from this book and wasn't disappointed. There's lots going on and not just in the spy business.

I haven't read any other books in the series, and admit to being a bit lost at first. There is history and backstory I wasn't familiar with so it took awhile for me to understand who was who and how they mattered to one another. I'm sure that fans of the series will be thrilled to see so many familiar faces, but it was a bit difficult to get the gist of things at the start.

That didn't diminish my overall enjoyment of the book, however. Once I got things figure out a bit, it was full steam ahead and off to Ireland (over Dylan's very vocal objections). Once there, secrets abound ... from Dylan's past, to Vicki's present. I was fascinated by the look into some WWII history from an Irish point of view as well, since I had no idea of what was going on there at that time.

The book has a great mix of action, romance, paranormal, suspense and more. I loved Brenda's role in this, though I suspect she wasn't always a nice character. It made me want to go back and read earlier books to find out who she was then.

I admit to some disappointment at the "big reveal" of Vicki's secret. I think it was resolved far too easy for all the build up behind why she was so worried.

Overall, though, Dylan's Song is a book that hit all my happy buttons. Good suspense, good romance, good characters and good writing. Who could ask for more?
