"It's strange how fast life changes. Just when you think you have it all figured out, a council man hands you six werewolves to take care of."
Willow and her pack had barely settled into their new town when the council showed up again. Only this time its to ask for their help—to save Gage. How can Willow refuse?
Suddenly, Willow is thrust into a world of childhood nightmares. The Ancient City. But it isn't at all what she thought it would be. In fact, Willow soon realizes that not many things are what she thought they would be and she has to figure out for herself which things are worth fighting for.
I wear many hats. Author, mother, cook, housekeeper, laundry do-er, sister, daughter. I enjoy writing, it allows me to escape the realities of life: bills, day job, baths, supper, dieting, cleaning the litter box. My writing is usually romantic in nature with a bit of humor and a bit of surprise. My books range from Vampires who fall in and out of love so many times I had to make it a series to christian stories of finding out what is important in life. I have always loved writing. During my high school days I wrote one book. It was a vampire love story. It took me so long to write it that I began to think of the characters as real people. I still do that today. On a personal note: I have three wonderful children - Gavin, Arabelle, and Elijah, two not so wonderful cats, and two rats. We all live in a small town in northern Ohio. There is more corn here than vampires or werewolves, at least that I know of.
I'm not very good at reviews, but I LOVED this book! :) The characters are just as great in the second book as they are in the first! Lots of funny parts that had me laughing out loud! The end of this book will definitely have you dying for the next book! :)
Holy Heck Amy Richie! The ending. Seriously! The next book better be coming out soon! Of all the cliffhangers in the world and this one had to waltz into my book.. Ahhhhhhh!!!! Its no secret that I Love Amy Richie.. I’m loud and proud I LOVE HER!!
Of course Richie knocks another one out of the park! At last we left Willow she was coming into her own as the pack leader.. Gage left the pack to warn the council of Blakes betrayal.. Fern basically leaves off from there.. They moved towns and Gage is still gone.. Willow misses her Alpha .. the pack misses him too but they go on I mean what else can they do.. Until Darren, Gages brother and council member.. along with Corey fellow council member show up at their door with news of Gage.. he has been imprisoned and they need help busting him out of Andros jail in the Ancient City.. Willow and the pack agree to help.. Obviously I mean come on its Gage..
The scenery was wonderful!! I can picture clearly the Ancient City.. and I like that im really weird when it comes to picturing what I read I know for most it comes easy it doesnt for me.. I often change the descriptions in my head.. for example Gage is Zac Efron.. Dont know why or how that came about he just is.. So yeah.. I felt the book was pretty well paced and exciting.. There wasnt continual action however Im not complaining.. my heart breaks a little for Willow everything is on her shoulders and she has a pack relying on her.. But shes amazing and manages to handle it all pretty well despite what she thinks..
This is another wonderful book by Amy Richie. The story of Fern a werewolf who killed Willow and Ivy's parents and then changed them both into werewolves.
I'm not the kind of blogger to give away too much detail, but I was asked for a specific honest review, so here it is.
*Lets start with the obvious-the cover is beautiful. The cover sparks your curiosity, offers a beautiful woman, and just the right essence of mystery, reveal, and self discovery.
Now, the first page of the book just drew me back in, drew me into the world of wonder, exploring how Willow could handle dealing with this, and had me hooked again. Once I received the book it was one that I went to bed with nightly, because I had to finish it and know. But as usual with Amy's writing, she has things that will shake you, surprise you, make you wonder what will come next, and keep you guessing. There are areas that left me gasping and parts that left me intrigued, but Amy does a beautiful job with transitioning and giving you all you want and more. The book is something that would make a all star movie. Most people have trouble with having good dialogue in a book, but in Fern everything is easy, and comes naturally. A few big things happen in Fern, one leading to the Ancient City, and if you don't know what that is-I suggest you read! The boys, who are a pack of *WHOA*...-I can't spoil that either, you need to read-...decide they need to take on an adventure rescue for a purpose, but Willow has to be smart, think right, and slow things into the right steps. Can Willow help, can she save the day again, or will everything that has gone on just be too much to take? We shall see in time!
You NEED to read to find out! I personally give this book another 5 stars, and GAH-can book 3 be released like- TOMORROW!!!!! I don't know how long I can wait!
I absolutely loved Willow (the first book in the Blood Vine series). The way Willow adapted to her pack, the way the boys reacted to her, the dynamic of the pack was awesome (and yes I’m becoming über aware as to how often I use that world lately). That however was nothing compared to Fern.
Richie once again drags the reader into Willow’s world and submerges you into the pack. What happens to the pact happens to you, which is why on more than one occasion I was in tears or laughing out loud. This pack was MY pack. And I wasn’t happy to say goodbye to it at the end of the book.
Still reeling from the discovery that Gage is in fact Mikhaul, the man she was raised to fear, Willow sets off to rescue him from the vampires she was raised to hate and face the woman who raised her. Willow grows so much in this book, she finally realises what it means to lead a pack and she has herself a Eureka! moment when it all falls into place. At this point I actually fisted the air and cheered… I kid you not, I’m just glad I was home alone at that point.
This book was filled with story, there was no slow parts, no quiet parts. From start to finish this book was impossible to put down and I devoured it in two sittings. If you only ever read one Werewolf series make it this one. You wont be disappointed.
I was given this book for an unbiased honest review~~ Fern by Amy Richie
Wow just finished the book and reeling about the ending!! OMG!! What an ending!! I'm anxiously waiting the next book in this series. I loved this book even better than the first book!! In this book, you can see how the character's grow and how their relationships take on a more complex situations! After reading this book, it was not how I envisioned the set of events after reading the first book and for that I'm completely and excitedly anticipating what the next book will hold. The book is very well written and I just loved the dialogue between the characters. I loved Willow's inner strength after she found it and set her mind into what she needed to do. I also love the new members. I can say WOW WHAT AN ENDING!!!! DYING TO KNOW what lies in her journey now! This is an amazing sequel.
The book starts basically where it left off with Willow, the boys and Carlie moving to a new town. Gage went to warn his brother and Andros about Fern. Little did they know Gage is captured and being held in the Ancient City. Now Willow has to face her fears about Vampires and about Fern. Can Willow get enough strength? Can she free Gage? What will happen if they are captured? I give this book 5 star review! Loved this book!!!
I absolutely loved the first book, so clearly I was super stoked to begin reading Fern. I was absolutely not disappointed! Fern picks up right where Willow left off. The pack (minus Gage) has just settled into their new town. Life is as normal as it can be for a werewolf. That is until two councilmen show up… to ask for help. They are requesting that Willow and her pack help save Gage. Of course Willow can’t say no, she has some pretty strong feelings for Gage. Willow will finally get to see The Ancient City which she has heard so much about, but at what cost? Will Willow be able to step up and be the leader that her pack needs? Who is the true enemy in this war?
OMG I loved this book! From the moment I began reading, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to put it down. I immediately began looking for ways to avoid the outside world so I could stay home and read!
I loved catching up with all of the characters. Willow is still amazing and snarky and funny, Carlie is still a pain, but impossible to dislike. Jed is great, and you can’t not love Gage! There are even some new characters you get to know, and you can tell that each and every one was thoroughly thought out!
Fern was fast paced and easy to get into. You will have many questions answered, but it will leave you asking even more! I seriously cannot get enough of this series!!
Willow is finally gaining confidence as leader over her pack, so the group go in search for a suitable place to live. Taking Carrie with them they find a safe place to set up home in a secluded cabin, but soon after they move in they get news that two strangers are looking for them. The strangers, two wolves, inform the pack that Gage is being held prisoner by Bella/Fern leaving the pack with no choice other than to go to the Ancient City to try to rescue him.
Fern is an exciting fast paced book that has you on the edge of your seat one minute, makes you laugh the next and even manages to bring a tear to your eye. I think I experienced every emotion at some point through this story.
The ending had a HORRIBLE cliffhanger……..I HATE cliffhangers and this had one of the most frustrating ones I have come across in a while. I am itching to know what happens with both ------ and ------ (Nope not giving any spoilers here!!!)
Amy Richie has brought something new to the table with this werewolf series, which is both refreshing and exciting, for those of you who haven’t read Willow yet, go out and buy it together with Fern because you will not be disappointed.
In the second installment of the Blood Vines Series, we find Willow and her pack settling into a new town and trying to get life back to normal. Soon she is approached by the council and asked to travel to the Ancient City in France to rescue Gage/Mikhaul. How can she say no, right Once in the Ancient City, Willow and her pack learn that things are not what seem and find some unlikely allies. In Willow’s journey to rescue Gage and take back the city from Bella/Fern we see her emerge as the true leader of her pack. She rolls with the punches and becomes a better person and leader from her time and experiences in the Ancient City.
Fern did not disappoint. The second installment is even more action packed than the first. Definite page turner! Once I started reading it on Sunday afternoon, I did not put it down till I completed the journey with Willow. Would certainly recommend this as a great read for anyone who enjoys a strong female main character with a lot of action. I look forward to reading other books in the series from this author.
The first book left Willow broken hearted but more determined then ever to be what her pack needs, and she decided to bring Carlie into the pack, great choice in my opinion. Book 2 starts off right at the beginning of their new lives in a new place. Things seem to be looking up for the pack. Until they get 2 unknown visitors with some most unexpected news. As much is Willow has thought of and needed Gage these past months, he needed her more. And her and her pack were determined to help him. But going to the Ancient City might be more than she ever was expecting! This book was so fast past and intense! There was always something crazy happening, and what you think is coming is never what happens. There is of course lots of humor from these "boys" I have found myself growing so fond of, but there is so much action and fighting and twisted characters, and a bit of sadness too. Just an all around great read and follow up to Willow. But....just when they think they have finally got it....disaster strikes! AGAIN! Can't wait to read Ivy! Talk about your cliff hanger
I continued this series because I really felt it had potential (I was immediately drawn to the idea of the female-led pack) and I think this installment was actually much better than the first. However, you should read the first, Willow, to get some of the backstory.
Willow and the pack travel to the Ancient City after the council informs them that Gage has been taken prisoner. Through their adventures, Willow finds out that things she was taught as a child may actually differ from the truth. During this book there are rescues, surprises and an ultimate fight...possibly till the death...
For starters, I think Willow is much more awesome here; she starts to take charge and think for herself and develop into a leader and I like how her character is developing. I like the way the ending leaves me thirsty for more - I won't spoil it, but well done! I love how the pack members truly feel like a unit. I enjoyed the interaction between the wolves and vampires.
I found Fern to be an incredible story of a female coming to know her true strength and power. Learning to rely on herself and trust in the love of others. As she battles with herself as well as her enemies, the author does a great job of leading us through the story. As though we were walking/running/morphing with Willow. The author pulls together her story lines well and expertly describes the love and relationships between all the members of her pack. I was instantly drawn in by the lively banter as well as the realistic integrations between characters. She develops a very interesting plot and keeps the reader interested thourough as well as providing great action scenes and lots of surprises. I didn’t want to put it down.
All in All I would give Fern a five star rating it is refreshing, and unique as well as a great page turner and I would highly recommend if for someone looking for a great book to read.
Fern by Amy Richie is the sequel to Willow and I definitely recommend that you read Willow before reading Fern. This is an amazing series about werewolves. In the story, Willow and her pack have moved on from their previous town and have found a peaceful existence on a remote farm. But things change when two strangers show up and ask Willow and her pack to come to the Ancient City and help rescue Gage. Things in the Ancient City are in turmoil and there are a lot of surprises that Willow and the boys must deal with. In book 1, Willow transformed from a scared high school girl to a pack leader. In this book, Willow becomes an even stronger leader and she must make hard decision. She fights to protect her pack and she discovers her inner strength. This book had a lot of action and twists. It definitely kept my interest and the ending left me begging for book 3. I definitely recommend this book to fans of YA werewolf stories.
Fern is the second book in Amy Richie’s Blood Vine Series. I highly recommend this series.
As Willow and her pack settle in to their new home, they desire to live peacefully and unnoticed by the small community around them. However, two councilmen from the Ancient City have different plans for the young pack. The unexpected trip to the Ancient City brings about big changes for Willow and her pack. Willow grows into her role as the female leader as she discovers that her mental connection with her pack is stronger than she anticipated. The challenges that the pack faces in this book makes their bond grow and their loyalty to each other is impressive. The author does an excellent job describing the scenes in the Ancient City and the characters emotions, which helped pull me into the book! I cannot wait until the next book of the series is released!
I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review.
Disclaimer: I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Fern is the second volume of the Blood Vine series (following Willow), and it does a great job of continuing the story. We pick up right where Willow leaves off, with Willow and the boys leaving Grover to hopefully elude Bella (Fern) and save themselves. However, Gage is gone, and the pack soon learns that he's been taken prisoner in the Ancient City. Of course everyone wants to rush to save him, and that's where this story leads us. We learn more about Bella/Fern, Andros, and the Ancient City along the way, and meet some new and interesting characters. It's a great story, I'd definitely recommend it to fans of the first one, as well as anyone who likes suprnatural/supernatural romance/YA books. =)
Ok so this is soooo worth more than a 5 star rating but I’m in a complete state of shock. Amy Richie has officially blown my mind. Every twist and turn was unexpected. Some amazing and some causing my mouth to drop and my husband to look at me like I’m crazy because I’m yelling what the hell!!! Omg! I have never wished so bad to have waited to read a series until it was all the way done because I don’t think I can stand waiting for the next book. Fair warning the last chapter will have your head spinning. My mind is already rolling on how Amy Richie will have the story play out in the next book. But I’m pretty sure anything I think up will be nothing compared to how she makes it. So that makes me even more excited for the next book. Fern is officially Number 1 on my Top Reads for 2013
This book is a great continuation of the first book Willow. In this one, the pack leader Willow has moved her pack out of danger, but knew her 'mom' Bella, called Fern now that she's power crazy, wants to destroy her pack. Two older werewolves from the council come to Willow and want her and the pack to come to the ancient city to free Gage, Willow's love interest and Alpha of the her pack. He was imprisoned by the vampire Andros, the leader of the ancient city. When they go back, things have changed and Willow's mission becomes more complicated than she had imagined. The book really had a great plot and this author did a great job bringing me into the story. I got a little confused about who was talking during the dialogue because there are so many boys in the wolf pack, but I love them all! They all had their own personalities and were relatable.
Ok so....wow! Talk about awesomesauce with a side of bloody Hell! We catch up with Willow and her pack without a break in the storyline. The Council shows up in their backyard asking for help; they want to go into the Ancient City and rescue Gage. An added bonus...Bella or should I say Fern and maybe Lily? Not having read Willow prior to Fern, I was a little lost. So what did I do you ask; I read Willow of course! After that...Fern was intense! The beautiful imagery painted with words to describe the Ancient City's surrounding woods and city itself was amazing. Amy did an outstanding job with both Willow and Fern that I can not wait for the next install to come out!
I loved this book! However, I really recommend reading the first book in the series, Willow. It will explain a lot of the pack rules and people's relationships. The writer describes the landscapes flawlessly. I can feel the main character's emotions and I understand why she feels the way she does. I love the relationships she has with her pack mates; she cares for them and would do anything to keep them safe. If you like the werewolf/vampire type of books, you will definitely want to read this series. The ending of this book opens the door for another, so I can't wait to read on!
It's a good book , cause you can read it quickly. Also, it has a slightly different argument , so in this case the main character is a girl , but a fighter, werewolf, ... You can read a lot of books with the werewolf topic, but always the main character is a human girl , she doesn't has a powers , and so on. Moreover , there is a very strong friendships in the pack. You are into the story and you laugh when there are some funny jokes or moments . I recommend that you read, if you have some free time you should choose it.
I loved the story. I Loved the characters. Fern started off slow. Unlike "Willow". Fern lacked action. It was hard to keep my interest. Don't get me wrong, there was a couple of action filled scene. When Willow and her pack makes it to the city. Willow has several tough decisions to make. I always was expecting for something to go wrong in their plans. Everything worked in the favor. Had a very great ending and a little cliffhanger. Overall the story is a great YA book.
I loved reading about Willow and her pack again, and if you enjoyed the first book in the series, you will definitely want to read this one. Full of action from the start, I was gripped and just couldn’t put it down. Incredibly descriptive, the story flowed well and the characters have all grown since we first met them, leaving me wanting to know so much more. I can’t wait to read book 3.
I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! Perfect second book for the Blood Vine series! I loved seeing how Willow changed, how she saw Bella as she was...and discovered that you shouldn't judge a vampire by the words of a rather bitchy, sour werewolf...
This book was amazing. I love this series..I can not wait to see what happens next..Willow and her pack go to the ancient city to rescue Gage. She has to face Bella..This is a must read for everyone..Amy keeps you on your toes throughout the book..I highly recommend this book to everyone..
