Alice-Miranda and her friends are in Paris with a group of teachers from Winchesterfield-Downsfordvale and the Fayle School for Boys. The students have a very exciting opportunity: to sing at Paris Fashion Week. The amazing city is humming with excitement and outrageous fashion choices – quite often coming from Mr Lipp, the children's choir conductor.
But a couple of France's best known designers are harbouring serious secrets, and when Christian Fontaine has some expensive fabric stolen just days before his show, Alice-Miranda and her friends realize there is a darker side to the glitz and glamour of the famous city.
Jacqueline Harvey has combined a successful career in education with her love of a good story. She is the author of many novels for younger readers and a picture book, THE SOUND OF THE SEA, which was awarded Honour Book in the 2006 Australian Children’s Book Council Awards.
Jacqueline taught in Infants and Primary schools and was Deputy Head of Abbotsleigh Junior School (an independent day and boarding school for girls) in Sydney Australia for seven and a half years before taking up the position of Director of Development at Abbotsleigh in 2010. In October 2012 she resigned to become a full time writer and speaker.
Jacqueline’s bestselling Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose series’ centre on the adventures of two young girls.
Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones is a perpetually positive and determined seven year old who takes herself off to boarding school because it appeals to her sense of adventure.
Clementine Rose is a sweet little girl, who brings much joy to her family and the friends she makes along the way in her journeys through the first five books of the series. A star of the show is Clementine Rose’s pet, an adorable teacup pig called Lavender.
Her newest series is called Kensy and Max about twins who learn that their grandmother is head of the world's most important spy organisation, Pharos.

21/05/2013 M-Tear very muched enjoyed this. She loves the phrases of French. She loves the subplot of "Rosie Hunter" and the idea of Miss Reedy and Mr Plumpton. Not to forget about Jacinta and Lucus! All in all, a MUST READ!!
Alice Miranda is excited to be in Paris with the Winchesterfield-Downsfordvale school choir, and the Fayle School for Boys choir. They are scheduled to perform in prestigious places in Paris, including the Ritz and the Chateau at Versailles. They are there for Fashion Week.
When they arrive they are greeted by Police sirens and see a very flustered French man complaining that he'd been robbed. When they see the news reports on the TV they discover Christain Fontaine, a famous designer had valuable fabric stolen.
There were many surprises for the students over the next week. A strange boy was looking out from a window opposite their hotel room. Comings and goings from the same building had the children guessing why the people inside were so secretive.
The choir's music teacher added exotic movements to his conducting, not helped by his outrageous fashion outfits. He was trying to get the English teacher Livina Reedy to go out with him, whilst the Science Teacher Josiah Plumpton shyly wanted to get close to her.
Alice was delighted her mother and Aunt had arrived in Paris. Especially when she and her friends discovered the truth about the robbery. Mr Plumpton took them on a hairy ride in a little car through Paris, and the culprit was discovered. Getting back to the launch of Dux LaBelle's designs catwalk created quite a stir.
Again Jaqueline Harvey has created a young adult's story with Alice-Miranda as the feisty youngster being polite but inquisitive. I'm reading Alice Miranda in New York next, however, it preceeded this book. I won't be surprised when Christian Fontaine appears in that story.
Although it is a book for a younger audience, I quite enjoyed the plot. Was quite interesting but took me awhile to actually get into it. Overall it was a good read :)
