Being raised by wolves wasn't a nightmare. It was practice.
In this fast-paced Western, a gunslinger with a savage past reluctantly teams up with a young orphan girl to avenge the murder of the padre who saved them both.
As Lobo hunts the seven killers, he will uncover long-buried secrets, help a good woman in a bad situation, and maybe even do something a surly loner like Lobo wouldn’t have thought possible… fall in love.
Lobo is a classic Western with a touch of romance. It’s perfect for fans of C.J. Petit and R.O. Lane.
“John Deacon writes the kind of Westerns I like to read—gritty and fun with lots of heart.” — Don Bentley, New York Times Bestselling author of the Matt Drake series and Tom Clancy Jack Ryan, Jr. novels
A TORTURED MAN BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY WITH GREAT SENCE OF JUSTICE
☆☆☆☆☆
Lobo (The Lobo Trilogy Book 1) by John Deacon is a great start to what is only going to be a great series about a man with a tortured past who hell bent on finding the group of killers that killed his friend a priest who saved him from a life of abuse and humiliation and raised him as a loved son.
Lobo along with Tilly, a young girl who witnessed the brutal killing of the priest, head out to serve justice in the only way Lobo knows how, swift and deadly. While searching for the killers, the come across a small ranch where the owner, Hannah, offers up a place within her home for both Lobo and Tilly while Lobo tracks down the seven men that killed his friend and father figure.
This story is action-packed, well told, and with clear characters that you'll find yourself rooting for Lobo, Tilly, and Hannah and cheering when Lobo serves justice with his skills with his gun and his smarts he learned as a child raised in the wild.
This first book in this series is a story once started you won't be able to put the book down and once finished the first book you'll want to jump right into the second. John Deacon as done a exceptional job with this western thriller and I can honestly tell you I really enjoyed reading it and hope you will too.

Book one in a three book series📚. Great genre reading for fans of the old West.
A man claims he was raised by a wolf pack and he struggles to find human feelings for a child who warned him about a deranged killer who takes joy in inflicting pain. Lobo must overcome his anger and pray to save the girl and the woman who gave them shelter.
I've always loved westerns, having read Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey as a kid. This is my kind of western. Plenty of action, a great hero who is humble, strong, and honest, and heroine who proves to herself that she's just as brave and strong as her man is. Great faith based conversations, too. I'll be recommending these books to everyone.
What a truly awesome book. Great story line and characters with much action. I'm already anxiously waiting on next book. Would highly recommend this book but all others written by this author.
4.25! “You know what they call the murder of murderers, Marshall?” “Justice.”
This is definitely a book where you’ll have to suspend your belief for parts of it, but it just made the book even better. It had all the aspect of a good western.
I love a good revenge plot, so nothing was more satisfying than Lobo’s vendetta to make the men that killed the Padre pay.
I think the book was well rounded, the pace was excellence (not too fast, not too slow), and that the splash of romance added helped me love it even more. Not just because I’m a sucker for a good romance, but because seeing how caring for someone changed Lobo’s mindset and influenced his decisions was very interesting to see and beautiful.
How family, loved ones, or pack can mold how you live your life because you want to do everything in your power to make them happy and live a life without suffering (unlike the the life Lobo was dealt).
I also enjoyed seeing the internal, man vs. self, conflict. It added even more intensity as we have more questions like: Will Lobo let his view of himself as a savage rob him of a good life with good people that he loves? Will he ever believe that he is a good person?
Overall, an amazing western and a great work of fiction.
Quotes for the road (slightly spoilery):
“They just stood there for a moment, two orphans bound by pain and love…”.
“Knives often summoned civility in a way even guns could not achieve.”
“…in a fight, a man must master his anger or be mastered by it.”
This book shows how terrifying people can be to each other and some sick minds. But, it also shows kindness, faith, and God's love. It is about abuse, orphans, and those betrayed making a pack. It's one man's story and all the lives that touch him good and bad. More nightmares to come. Highly recommended for all adult readers.
Very good story with an unusual main character as the hero
Logo is a character who was raised by wolves as a small child and later rescued and reintroduced into human society by a priest who teaches the ways of being in civilized culture. Lobo later strikes out on his own after Leaving his adopted father. He returns only to find his adoptive father murdered. He then pursues the perpetrators and his series involving his skills combined his learned wolf pack upbringing. Excited to read the 2nd installment!
The western genre has changed a bit since the days of L'Amour and Grey. Alot of the newer authors (Schwab, Robertson) write a great story, but with a bit more "savagery" in the action. The modern westerns of Box and Johnson are more crime-focused, so are a good read. I am looking for a mix of the two. This story was excellently written, but only Lobo's character was really drilled down into. Hannah's character was also done fairly well. I did like the premise and am hooked on finding out the "who" that is after Lobo. A 4.5 out of 5 rating.
Very exciting and adventurous book. I remember National Geographic and the boy raised by wolves. Can’t wait until the next book. I hope Lobo finds peace within himself and it is with Tilly and Hannah. Loved all the characters and especially enjoyed Tilly’s strong character and her creativity in helping Lobo survive. Love and loyalty at its best!
I love the Western genre.Takes me back to a time when I could curl up with a good book and a juicy red apple and read all afternoon. If the opportunity presented itself, I would enjoy my reading time alongside my grandfather as he read his Zane Grey books over and over! John Deacon writes the perfect Western in that same great style. Thanks! Enjoy that meal with your family.
Good story, well written. Unlike many self published book, no misspelled words, sentences are all complete. I don't know about dangling participles because I've forgotten exactly what they are. Regardless, I recommend you read this book.
PS: He likes many of the same authors I do, so he must be a good guy.
A man fast with a gun, with the primal instincts of the wolf pack who raised him. Hard to believe, but good writing made a believer out of me.
Lobo, the solitary man prowling the western frontier. Read slowly and with caution. But you will come to the end almost believing this amazing man actually existed. I am going to read the second book in the series now.
Read this book several months ago but didn't know how to rate books or how to provide feedback. Love this book and author so am going back to provide rating and let everyone know that this is an excellent series and can't wait for the next one (number 3) just an excellent book!!
John Deacon created a tremendous cast of characters in this extremely well written novel of the West. Lobo is unique and ideal title character that is fascinating.
The story is a great read with some nuance to the traditional Western.
Outstanding! Meet the Jack Reacher of the old.west...no man can defeat him!
Having read upwards of 7,000 books in my life, take my word on this author. The Lobo character is one to ride the river with. Strong, fast, dangerous. Love the other characters and the fast pace. Excellent back story...I'm moving on to the next in the series, I'll keep you posted!
Lobo started out being raised by wolves until captured and put in a freak show. He was rescued by Padre, who raised him. Lobo would become a famous gunfighter. He returns to find Padre dead, but 10 year old Tilly to tell him what happened. Together, they go hunting and end up at Hannah's who is trying to run a ranch by herself. Naturally Lobo and Tilly are going to stay and help, and they develop a relationship. Plenty of excitement up to this point and plenty more as Lobo pursues the men that killed the Padre.
I waited with great anticipation for the release of this new book from John Deacon and was not disappointed! I think this is his best work so far...now waiting for the next one which is already on order. I highly recommend any book be this author!
Any good story requires a hero, a worshipping and trusting child and a women of faith and love..this has all the elements..a most entertaining read looking forward to logo 2
Didn't know what to expect when I saw the title? Great start held my attention and kept it to the end. Looking forward to book2. Also, there were no grammatical errors. So many of the books I read lately have them and it drives me crazy.
Western with a different twist.Lots of action. Some violence and maybe some Love. Scripture thrown in . No excessive Cursing or foul language . I will read the next 3 in the series and continue to the author.
This novel is a great read. It takes a well myth and breathes new life into it. It intertwines the bases emotions that can make a man into a wild animal or a caring human being. I will be reading the rest of the trilogy.
Loved it.Great book. John Deacon will be a go to author for exciting westerns. Can't wait to start Lobo2. A Man called Justice series is what got me started on this journey.
Enjoy your Dinner Mr. Deacon and your well written book rating
What a terrific story, western inspirational love story thriller..all in one book by one author. I am so glad there is a book 2. My first read by Mr Deacon..cant wait for more!
Another great western from John Deacon. This a "can't put down" book and looking forward to Lobo #2. Loved the characters, especially Tilly, what a scamp she is. You do not want to miss this western, get it on your TBR now.
The beginning of a good series. Logo raised with wolves returns to the priest who rescued him from men abusing him. Only to find the priest murdered. He vowels to track down each one involved and make them pay.
The chapters were short and action filled. As reducu.ous as the premise is of a child being raised by wolves is, i bought it and it worked. I look forward to more lobo tales.
I love the way the writer describes all the feelings of each person. I guess we all have good and bad feelings about how we live. Great read and highly recommend this series. Can't wait for the next book.
I was hesitant to try a new western writer, but in this case it was a bonanza! I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will add this author to my list of winners.
