--- Keeping his wife happy was hard enough without a gay lover and the zombie Plague. ---
In July of 1893, James Hurst, a perfect English gentleman, had retrieved a treasure that would secure the financial future of his family, got scarred by a zombie and lost his virginity to Ira Russell, the mercenary he hired. After a rocky start, their mutual fascination makes James happier than ever.
Despite initial worries, Ira has no trouble blending in with the aristocratic household. Even James’ young son comes to adore the new teacher of survival tactics and his maritime stories. His wife on the other hand takes a different sort of interest in Ira. Her infatuation with him is the living proof of James’ failure as a husband, but is it too late to pick up the pieces? With a political opponent watching his every move and the threat of a terrorist attack on London, James is walking a tightrope. Can he keep his family safe without giving up on his newfound happiness (and Ira’s skills in tying him up)?

K. A. Merikan is a duo of queer writers who don’t believe in following the well-trodden path. In their books you can dip your toe into dangerous romance with mafiosi, outlaw bikers and bad boys, all from the safety of your sofa. They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and in fiction. Their stories don’t shy away from exploring the darker side of M/M romance, and feature a variety of anti-heroes, rebels, misfits, and underdogs who go against the grain. Be prepared for shocking twists, dark humor, raw emotions, and sizzling hot scenes.
K.A. Merikan also writes steamy M/M romcoms as Devon Doe.
Ira becomes a member of James family and James is happier and more complete than ever. Unfortunately James is also blackmailed and at the same time his wife is unsatisfied. Zombies will start roaming London and they will provide an easy solution for the blackmail (yes, Ira is definitely a ruthless man - it is a good thing that he loves James and his family). Casanova will provide an easy solution for James' wife loneliness. That was a good addition to the series.
Ex-sailor/mercenary Ira Russell, moves in with Aristocrat James Hurst as the two can't bear to be apart any longer. In this instalment we get to see a different side to Ira and the people he surrounds himself with and we also find out exactly what he will do to protect his life with James.
A more mature part of the series probably because we've known the characters long enough. I really enjoyed the interactions between James and Ira, their relationship has reached the part where it is more than sex and love is definitely a part of it now. I also really liked that Katherine (James' wife) has her own subplot, she was almost a ghost (NOT a zombie :P) in the previous chapters. The zombie part was very exciting got me a little mad... . A very satisfying ending to the story... and now I'll go read the short story before saying a last goodbye to characters I've really learned to love.
