It is a pity that Keralam is such an isolated region and Malayalam is such an isolated language. Otherwise such a brilliant science fiction idea could have won lot of acclaim.

Since we can't hope for a very soon international recognition, let me console myself with something very definite. This is the best science fiction novel in Malayalam, by a great margin. As the usual case with any other C.R's work, I couldn't put the book down before finishing it. The central theme of the science fiction is very much in line with the usual C.R philosophy. From some his earlier works one could have anticipated that this is coming. I can remember him using some of the mysterious elements of popular science (like chaos theory or the theory of everything or mysterious waves) in a manner that can easily resonate with the inquisitive minds of the scientifically inclined readers. In this work he has used these imagery to their fullest potential. The result is an incredible story-line, the soul of the novel.

However, the body of the novel doesn't give justice to the soul. The language doesn't drag you into emotional whirlpools as you would expect after reading 'Munpe...'. The characters would appear bit familiar since their mannerisms are derived from the characters of some of his previous novels. I have to admit that C.R is not that best when describing action sequences (Why to describe them concretely at all?).

In any case, you will like it if you are looking for a nice malayalam science fiction novel.

കാലത്തിനു മുമ്പേ സഞ്ചരിച്ച നോവൽ. പൗരസ്ത്യദര്‍ശനം എന്ന അടിത്തറയില്‍ പണിത ആധുനിക സയന്‍സ് ഫിക്ഷന്‍. അനുരാഗബദ്ധരായ യുവമിഥുനങ്ങള്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ ഗവേഷണപ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടെ മഹത്തായ ഒരു കണ്ടെത്തലിലേക്കു നീങ്ങുന്നു. മനുഷ്യവംശത്തിന് അത്ഭുതപൂർണമായ ഐശ്വര്യപ്പുതുയുഗപ്പിറവി കുറിക്കുന്ന നൂതനസാങ്കേതികവിദ്യ. എന്നാല്‍, സയന്‍സ് നല്‍കുന്ന ഏതു വരദാനവും ദുരുപയോഗം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടേക്കാം. അവരെ വിധേയത്വത്തിലാക്കി ഈ വിദ്യ തട്ടിയെടുക്കാനും ലോകമേധാവിത്വത്തിനുള്ള യുദ്ധത്തില്‍ ഉപകരണമാക്കാനും അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര കുറ്റവാളിസംഘം കിണഞ്ഞു ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു. മനുഷ്യമനസ്സ് ആത്യന്തികായുധമായിത്തീരുന്ന വിസ്മയകഥ.

Modern science in the light of eastern philosophy

Another novel from the established Indian writer, C. Radhakrishnan and this time a science fiction, not a surprise from a scientist/ a creative writer himself. His book “ Deep Within” is a great blend of modern science and eastern philosophy. It is breathtaking and a pure joy to read. I highly recommend to people all over the world to dive into “deep within” so you could enjoy a new kind of science fiction in it’s purest form.
