I must say that I'm truly impressed. At first this may seem like superfluous fluff where Stiles pranks Derek by leaving a fake parking ticket on his car. But in actuality, this is a courtship. The courtship of all courtships via the written word.

This is another impressive take on witnessing the evolution of Sterek. It goes from bickering to bantering to debating to arguing. It unfolds deep revelations as their begrudging tolerance of each other changes to one of blatant necessity.

"Stiles doesn't quite understand, because they're in more-or-less constant contact now, and instead of being driven crazy by it, Stiles likes it. Loves it even. Can't imagine what he'll do when it stops."

Of course writing what they can't or won't say out loud does have consequences as emotions come to a head, resulting in probably the most epic love confession I've read about them to date.

"He's spent all this time handling it with kid gloves, this… this… this whatever it is between him and Derek, hasn't been pushing it, hasn't been expecting anything at all…handing his soul over in bits and pieces...not asking for a damn thing in return… Fuck being hurt. Better to get angry instead."

I guess what this story did for me was to point out the foibles of these two - their pathos, their quirks/hangups/fears. In loving each other they find acceptance of their own selves within. The epilogue was equally funny, touching, and profound.

Crazy + Crazy = Perfection.

The relationships here are all mixed up - not necessarily in a bad way, but definitely in a weird way. Isaac is with Erica and competing with Stiles for Scott's friendship while at the same time fearing that Stiles is trying to take Erica from him, while Boyd and Scott and Allison and Lydia are in a fourway relationship, and to top it all off Stiles and Danny were in a relationship for a while. Oh, and Sheriff Stilinski and Melissa McCall are together - which is just incongruous and traumatic and I don't know why some people like this idea because no.

Basically, the only couple that's just as it's supposed to be is Stiles and Derek, and the way they get together is the funniest and most adorable and torturing because it's slow and idiotic. And sexy, because, as Edward Cullen taught us, stalking is a weapon of seduction. Or something.
The romance in this story is mostly about getting (or not getting) each other, and that slightly panicky and in denial sort of pining, and the aforementioned stalking because obviously pining needs sensory fuel.
It is also half epistolary, which is fun.

The writing is smooth and smart, the kind that just feels like a natural, extremely pleasant and quite quickly spoken conversation, occasional turns of phrase hitting you with how just plain good they sound.
Being narrated in 3rd person from Stiles' POV, the narration tends to have his constantly sarcastic and slightly rambly way of thinking and talking, and this just makes me happy.

The story reminded me of Mating Habits of the Domesticated North American Werewolf, another incredibly good sterek fic, despite being much lighter and funnier in tone than that one; that is probably because of the years of pining, the half-epistolarity (ikr, I should write a dictionary) and the glimpse of older Derek and Stiles we get at the end.
Don't ask me why, but these glimpses always leave me kind of depressed, despite usually being happy and mushy and full of love. It's probably the fact that I'm very young, and being forced to imagine myself so far in the future (identifying with book characters is not always a good thing) kind of scares me.
Don't mind me. It's supposed to be heartwarming and fun, and it is.

NOTEDLY CUTE AND ADORABLE!

11/19/14 RATING UPDATED TO 3.75 STARS (rounded up)
It's one of the better Sterek fanfics!
RECOMMENDED!

This is a very cutesy, adorable Sterek fanfic!
This is probably the most romantic and least sexual among all the Sterek fanfics (or fanfics or M/M Romance books for that matter) I've read. And it still affected me!

I have to say though, the beginning, although really cute, it was actually quite boring for me. Stiles POV here just talk and talk and talk and think and think and think and think and talk and think and talk and think...and most of the time I don't understand it. I also think amongst all of the Sterek fanfics I've read so far, Stiles in here is the least crazy and exaggerated. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

But it picked up a lot on the last 30% of the book. I still didn't get some of things said between Stiles and Derek at times still.

The freaking epilogue, oh God.
I said a while ago that I'm a sucker for long-term relationship stories and this one has a long-term epilogue that goes through years. It was actually very very very lovely to see what happened to Derek & Stiles over the years and this the first I read a long-term relationship between them amongst their fanfics I've read so far.
There's one part, of that epilogue that I've cried. And I didn't expect to cry in this book because it's just cute, but it still did. It was when (Please don't open this because this may really spoil you if you haven't read it yet)

But! The end of the epilogue was for me cut short. Gah!!! So I ended up giving a final rating of only 3 stars. It's a really really cute ending though.

Recommended for those still addicted to Stiles and Derek. You will definitely enjoy this.
Btw, the story of this was set 2 years after the events of Teen Wolf so be a little familiar to Teen Wolf before reading this. But I guess if I enjoyed it (even if I'm not watching Teen Wolf) I think you guys would too!

It’s the summer after graduation and Stiles is bored so he starts writing notes to Derek. It starts out as a joke but the notes get more personal as they go on.

This was super duper romantic. I loved it. There’s no sex but I can get my fix with Sterek PWP so it all balances out.

Re-read 03/17/15 - 03/18/15 for reasons. One, I didn't use pics when I first started reading Sterek so, I'll fix that first.

description

description

But really, I did a re-read for the fact that I felt like maybe I missed something because everyone liked this so much more than I did. Well, I don't feel any different. Now that I am so much more well versed on Sterek I did pick up on a lot more than I did the first go round but I still think what bugged me the first time bugged me this time. Someone who read this and loved it please explain this to me. So, my rating stands.

---

Ok, first, I thought this was 49 pages. It is not 49 pages, it is a full length book. I am not complaining about that at all, just stating that my morning read almost turned into the afternoon :)

This was pretty good. A whole Hell of a lot of words. The notes were spectacular and the end was a thing of beauty. I of course needed some serious on page loving but there is nothing new there. Long live Sterek.

Oh my god, this was so good!

Hi-fricking-larious!!!

I laughed so hard. And then the end was so moving, I teared up a little.

This was wonderful! Love...

Great #Sterek fic with a mutual stalking theme that isn't nearly as creepy as it sounds. Also, I'm a sucker for epistolary wooing, and this story has it in spades. :D

So this wasn't what I was expecting for my first Sterek fic of the day. Honestly, the majority of it seemed off to me in a lot of ways, and that made it hard for me to get into it completely at first. But you know what? Sterek are just so amazing in this and I loved the way it was written, so I am giving it 5 stars and I'll say that I did love it. Because that's the truth, I did really love it.

The way this is written is really Stiles-like. It feels like I'm being read to by Dylan O'Brien in the character of Stiles, and that is awesome! Seriously, it's always a bonus for me in a fic when the writing sounds like Stiles in my head. After all, he is my favorite character and his character is just so fun and recognizable.

The different relationships were... odd. But that could be because I'm a fan of the show, and I've watched it several times and I know the couples/characters. But the Sterek part wasn't affected by that, Thank God!
And for those of you who want to know the couples.
Stiles/Danny (past)
Isaac/Erica
Boyd/Scott/Allison/Lydia
Sheriff Stilinski/Melissa McCall

So would I recommend this to Sterek fans? Yeah, I would. And I think people who don't watch the show would probably accept it easier. But if all you care about is Sterek, then it won't bother you too much anyway.

Charming, snarky, thoroughly enjoyable Sterek.

So Stiles pulls an Edward Cullen...

…and starts stalking Derek through notes.

Derek stalks back

And I started to worry that I would die of an overdose of Sterek cuteness by the end of this.

Hi, my name is Margaret, and I am addicted to Sterek. I mean, look at this guy:

And look at this dork … I mean, guy:

Sterek,

So cute.

I loved the notes in unexpected places and that Derek recipitated. There's a strong sense of their characters and I liked them, some of the relationships around the main couple I wasn't sure about but I've never watched the series and go only on what other fanfics I've read.

Cute and funny, not very steamy and the epilogue covers a number of years showing how the banter of their realtionship never fades though the affection grows.

I so enjoyed this.

I've read a lot of predicable twaddle recently, and this was original, really funny and so sweetly romantic.
How Derek + Stiles get to know each other is great, it really worked and taking time, that was unusual and added to the tension.
The epilogue, made the book for me

I've never seen the TV series, but this was first bloody class.
Highly recommended.

How did it take me this long to read this??!!

Stiles begins to leave notes for Derek. Then one day Derek begins to leave them back. I am certain that this would be Jane Austen's favorite Sterek.

I LOVE this fic. Big debate on how to rate this though. The whole epistolary concept is ten stars for me - I completely loved watching them woo each other via these notes. But there were two issues that really made this fic stumble for me: (first spoiler point not a big deal, second spoiler point you might want to steer clear of if you haven't read the fic yet, it is a climatic moment in the fic).

At any rate, taking this fic in as a whole it is easy to brush those two niggles aside and gush over how creative, well written and simply endearing this fic is. I enjoyed it so much it will probably be a reread for me at some point. It reminded me much of Jebiwonkenobi's works - Help Wanted in particular. I love the quirky Stereks, the ones where you can see moment by moment these two falling in love with each other - quietly and in their own weirdly believable manner. Brilliant.

This is the type of story that catches you a bit by surprise. It’s very funny but also very romantic. And by romantic I mean you two are so adorable in an emotional cripple way.

I loved Stiles and Derek in this one. They were really developed and I loved to see their unique take on a relationship. It was incredibly sweet and endearing while being something typically them. Their relationship is out of the ordinary and special, but then again, so are they.

The finishing touch, with seeing their relationship develop or better said staying strong over the years was really appreciated.

Lovely story!

I didn’t like this one as much as I’d hoped.

The notes Stiles leaves Derek were very cute and I liked it when Derek started writing back. But when Stiles went off to college, I wasn’t sure where this was going. I couldn’t get a real feel for the direction of the story.

description

The writing often left me confused. I understood what was happening, but a book filled with these kind of sentences threw me off.

He sighs after a third fruitless freeze-and-wait attempt--a watched pot of impending supernatural chaos never boils, apparently--and sits up, cracking his neck.

And I never really connected with either Stiles or Derek.
It’s not that it was bad, but I was skimming towards the end, because it could no longer hold my interest. Never a good sign with a short book.

No sex in this one. If I had felt the deeper connection between Stiles and Derek I wouldn’t have minded the lack of sex at all. But I just never felt it.

This one was quite different than other fics I've read so far and I liked that about it.

It's sort of a quiet, pensive story about two awkward and lonely people who slowly find out they're perfect for each other, even if their definition of perfect doesn't match everybody else's. It managed to be hilarious, creepy, melancholy, poignant, and romantic all in one story and I adored it for that.

I also adored the narrator's accent, which was quite difficult for me to understand at times, but still absolutely fucking charming. It may have strongly influenced how I saw the story, since it contributed to the melancholy tone but kept a smile on my face the whole time.

Like everyone else has said, the notes were great. There were also lots of lines I'm going to want to quote because I thought they were pretty brilliant. I shall restrain myself. But it's probably gonna get a reread at some point 'cause I really liked it.

Some Favorite Quotes:
"It's the middle of the night."
"Is it
really?" Stiles says before he can help himself. "My god, is that what all the darkness is about?"

Which is technically way more illegal than Derek's parking job, but whatever. It's not like that's a new thing for Stiles.

and Stiles gets that too, that sometimes stuff has to get shelved for the sake of working through more important stuff.

knowing full well that he's the kind of guy who tends to commit long-term on the liking-people thing whether or not he wants to.

This is what he gets, he supposes, for wishing an axe-murdering upon himself.

clearly, stalking is part of how one bonds with Derek. Stiles is only being considerate.

Because there's being useful and then there's being needy and Stiles is painfully aware that he's not very good at knowing where that line is.

"It is very... you guys, though. I'll give you that."

"Do you not actually process emotions unless they're delivered to you in writing?" Danny's lips purse thoughtfully, but his eyes are teasing. "That would explain so much about you."

I really enjoyed the concept of this one with the notes, that was awesome, but then some of the rest of it kind of dragged a little bit for me, and then there was ... no sex! Kissing and brooding looks and lots of tension yes, but unless I fell asleep through it (which is a possibility when reading at 2am in the morning) there was no sex! I am slightly disappointed. Although the letters for the epilogue were pretty cool as an ending, so they made up for it a bit. :)

This is the third sterek story I have read in a row now...see this is why I have a rule about staying away from fanfic! I get too hooked and can't stop - and I end up ignoring everything else on my tbr list, even though I have good intentions to just read one here and there between other books.

It's so sad when all your friends love a fic and you don't. It might even better if I hated it. I didn't. But I didn't love it. There were definitely some good quips and one-liners. Stiles was very true to Stiles. The others not so much and that was distracting. There were also missing words which caused me to need to re-read some sentences to make sure I understood the author's meaning. I suspect my mood today was not conducive to allowing me to enjoy it as much as everyone else.

Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. A cute, slightly angsty romance, that certainly doesn't suffer from the excess verbiage that seems to plague fanfic. Quite enjoyable ;)
