No matter how happy they are together, Yoshi can't help but revert to the thought that both he and Ai are not long for this world. He regrets Ai's coming death more than he does his own. This volume leans on philosophy and politics, but to the detriment of humor and of the soul it had in the first volume. Basically, this one is a slog to read and is too easy to put down, especially because it veers too much away from Yoshi and Ai's relationship.
