The series goes on a bit long (due to trying to resolve/work through big lore/plot things... cue Eva and Xenogears comparisons..), but I think it ultimately accomplishes its mission of showing the two protagonists still beat all the odds and manage to live to their deaths doing something meaningful and happy to them, even during some kind of spiritual apocalypse and with chronic illnesses. And dang the art is so good!
