Fire & Ice: Books 1 & 2

Because there are two sides to every story...

Justine's story is told in Just Add Heat, and the mirror to the story, Baby, It's Cold Outside, is told from Carter's point of view.

Take one part slightly insecure woman and add one part confidently sexy man. Mix well. Pour out the memories of the past two years and what do you have? A recipe for disaster.

Justine is a boyfriend-less chef; at least, that's the last thing she remembers. After a fall wiped the memories of the last two years of her life, she's struggling to absorb her new circumstances.
Apparently, she's the racy star of her own web-based cooking show and has become involved with a sexy younger man. Why would amnesia strike when her whole life has had such a major upgrade?

Carter is living the life he's always dreamed of, a life with Justine, and he refuses to let a bump on the head derail his plans for a Happily Ever After. He'll do whatever it takes to remind her that they are the perfect couple, but how do you make the woman you love remember that she loves you?

Luckily for the both of them, her recollections are tied up with her hormones, and they have all the ingredients they need for
a happy life.

No recipe required: Just Add Heat
Baby, It's Cold Outside--His life was chugging right along. He's got a job he enjoys, he's living with Justine (his longtime dream girl), and things are looking golden. That is until Justine's accident made her forget that she loves him. He's got to pull out all the stops to help her remember or his future is going to go completely off of the rails. Good thing he's got a plan...

I'm a writer of romancy chick lit that leans to the steamy side, mother to a surly teen, and general dogsbody for my husband's audio company. In my dark past I've been a bank teller, waitress, bookkeeper, telemarketer (I'm sorry!), bartender, chef, and restaurant owner. Writing has been the one thing that I've always done, and I'm such a sucker for a happy ending that I can't write anything else.

My deserted island must have: a loaded Kindle with a solar charger. That is, of course, only if there's plenty of food available.

I spend an inappropriate amount of time thinking about funny things and sexytimes--all in the name of book research of course!

Fire & Ice by Genevieve Jourdin is really two stories in one! HUGE BONUS - because both are amazing! After what was thought of as a slight head injury, a young woman wakes up the next morning with no memory of the past two years. Lying next to her is her best friend's younger brother, correction, HOT younger brother! But why is Carter in Justine's bed? What is going on? Told from Justine's POV, life is now one big terrifying question mark. Carter claims they live together, but the last thing Justine remembers is breaking it off with another guy. Justine is scared, doesn't know what to think, everything and everyone is different and she has no memory to back up the changes. Even her career as a chef in a restaurant has changed! Justine is drawn to Carter like a moth to a flame, but, no way could they be living together! With amazing patience, Carter gives Justine as much space as possible, even though it's killing him, hurting him. As Justine's memories come back and she finds the missing pieces of her life, she uncovers a HUGE shock that may have been what sent her mind into a black haze. She also realizes that Carter is all she could ever want in a man, younger or not!

The second half of the book is actually book two, the same time frame told in Carter's POV. For Carter, watching Justine fumble for her memories and not being able to hold her is killing him. The fact that she refuses to believe they are in love is so painful, but he manages to make every allowance possible in an effort to help bring back his Justine. As Justine's memories start to come back, he feels hope, because she is the only woman he will ever love. When she finally knows all, his dreams come true!

At the end of the story, in place of a 'regular' epilogue, Ms. Jourdin has cleverly inserted a "prologue" as an epilogue. So the reader is thrust back in time, to the first time Carter laid eyes on Justine, he was a freshman in high school, riding a bike to school, she was in college. He vowed then and there that she was the woman for him! Told from Carter's POV, it was priceless! What a great read, with a unique way to tell it! For me, I can't tell if I liked Justine's POV or Carter's best! I do have to say, I think Carter is the new standard for romance heroes for me! (Even if he doesn't have fangs!)

Fire and Ice combined 2 awesome novels into a phenomenal read. I really like that rather than writing 1 long story and flipping back and for the between the characters, creating a long and potentially confusing story, Jourdin writes two separate stories, one from each POV. Not only are the stories themselves able to stand alone, but they also complement each other to create sheer awesomeness when put together.

Jourdin stays consistent with characters, dialogue, and writing style between the two novels. She also makes certain that there isn’t a lot of redundancy between the two. It was a great deal of fun to read through these two novels. It was also great to see the amount of uniqueness that can be found within Jourdin’s work.

~Just Add Heat~

OMG. I seriously couldn’t picture living through this. It’s completely plausible, and extremely well laid out by the author, but as an individual, OMG. Just OMG. Horrific. But the author has this tragic event laid on top of an awesomely intriguing storyline that takes you on a wild ride, all the way to a happy ending.

Jourdin’s writing meshes perfectly with her well-developed storyline. She writes very smoothly but yet with grace and style. Through her word choice and sentence configuration she adds tension where appropriate. She also becomes more light-hearted when the scene calls for it. Her descriptions also bring everything into a vivid reality.

I also really love the character development in this story. They become more than simply names on a page, but rather your best friends. I came to love the characters themselves. They’re simultaneously very real and very unique. The author uses some of the most ridiculous (yet standard) terms for things, especially lady parts. You can’t help but laugh at some of the things that the main character comes up with. It makes her seem extremely real. She says what she thinks, and talks like a real person. You cannot help but love her for it. She draws you further and further into the story.

This was a very intriguing story that drew me in from the get go. It was simultaneously your typical romance, yet very atypical for the genre. It was a unique break from the norm while giving you exactly what you want.

~ Baby, It's Cold Outside ~

What a hell of a weekend for this poor guy. I couldn’t picture it. Wondering if you’d lost everything on what should have been one of the best, most exciting days of your life. And the author lays it out so realistically that you can’t help but feel for the characters.

This story being a romance from the male POV is just phenomenal. It’s an awesomely heart wrenching love story, but with a bit more kick. None of the frilly, girlie stuff here. The story draws you in without asking and doesn’t let you go. Although Jourdin’s writing style remains consistent from the first novel in the series, but yet changes to accommodate Carter as the POV character. It’s quite unique.

Character development in this novel is minimal, however, the characters are so well laid out in the first novel in the series that it would be redundant here and would actually break the smooth flow of the story. We do, however, find out more about Carter and his view on the other characters in the novel.

All I have to say right now is that I F-IN LOVE this story. It was the embodiment of awesomeness. Taking this unique storyline, that was already atypical for the genre, and telling it from the male POV just pushed it over the top.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was perfect chick lit. It was from different POV's which lately I have really been enjoying. Sometimes thing run a muck when they go from narrator to one or more POV. If you enjoy your chick-lit then this IS for you. The story is opening with Justine who bumps her head and doesn't remember a thing. She is confused and startled why this "Carter" is there using endearments and taking care of her. It is sort of humorous to me. Poor Justine lost 2 years of memory. That means nothing about Carter is stored in her brain!

Just as Justine's memories begin to return it get GOOD! Is Carter who and what she wants? Her forever? Just grab it up and indulge It is a love story with of course the chick lit flair I adore and a few shakes of spice!

I read both POV (both books), story is nice but reading same thing twice make me bored.. if u ask me i like hero POV more and if u really wana read this .. go for hero POV book.

Overall not bad but still if this book is written in both POV in one short will be better .. same dialogue, scene reading twice is quite draggy.

Ok after I got into it started to pick up speed. It was really good and I loved how she eventually found him again.
