"I wanted nothing more than a distraction. A diversion, a bolt from the blue-whatever you want to call it, I wanted it. Too much time had passed with no event- endless months of the same routine, days and days of the same old thing, over and over until I could swear I was going grey with boredom. Nobody else could see the strands of silver, of course, and were too fast to label me a drama queen. Nobody saw it from my side, that there might just be something missing from my life."

After a rough adolescence, Emmy White locked herself inside a life of strict routine and self-destruction. Even being the daughter of Britain's most prolific billionaire couldn't deter her from living in sin - binge drinking and bed hopping as part of her basic daily grind. She knew it was unhealthy. She knew she should change, but she was so set in her ways that she needed, and wished for, someone else to come and pull her out of her slump.
She should have been careful what she wished for.
After catching the eye of enigmatic male model, Blaze, in the midst of her usual after-work drinking spree, Emmy finds herself dragged into anxiety-ridden situations she'd usually strive to avoid and coming out of them unscathed. With her heart otherwise taken, she's not looking for love and romance, just someone to scratch an itch.
Blaze is just the man. His own complications in life make him unavailable for anything beyond casual sex and that would seemingly make for a perfect non-match. He's gorgeous and compassionate, and accepts all the scars left behind by Emmy's history of immensely poor self-esteem, most of them physical...
It doesn't seem possible that a pair so accepting of each other's flaws and complexities could avoid falling for each other, and it could have all been so perfect if someone hadn't accidentally let slip exactly why it is Blaze is only around at the weekends...

Self-publishing author and self-confessed fantasist, I vent my ideas into novels that I strive to make emotionally provocative and addictive. Music is referenced heavily and is a huge influence in the way I write. Those who know me well will see the pieces of my personality that I put into my words. Those who don't will see outrageous story lines, gut wrenching twists, raunchy love affairs, and heart stopping romance.

Jaws will drop. Eyes will burn. Cheeks will blush. Pages will turn. If just one of those reactions is evoked from every reader, then I know that my time isn't wasted.

I write in the hope that my work will be enjoyed and the word will spread, knowing that I made a mark on the world for just 'being'.

This book was provided to me in return for an honest review.

Blazed by Corri Lee starts with a lengthy internal reflection by the female protagonist, Emmeline Elizabeth Tudor, now hiding in downtown London as Emmy White. This circling review of her life tells of her psychiatric problems: changing her name to avoid association with her father, having extensive self-depreciating conversations with herself as a hallucinatory image, alcoholic escapism with her friends and an itch for repetitive one-night stands with no seconds, ever, except for her same coven of close friends. Also introduced are her dysfunctional family, enabling friends, understanding co-workers as well as her embarrassing, humiliating first contact with Blaze, who soon becomes her hot, delectable lover with his own past "complications." (Confession: I am jealous of everything about Blaze, wishing I could be as skilled and capable; the baggage fades to a “so what.”)

So, dear readers, if you feel bored with this early story development and want to skip ahead to the good, sexy stuff; hark this warning, later all the clues you wish you had read are in the first three chapters. The why, the who and the limits are here. When you read the book the second time, you'll still have some expletives about "there it is but I didn't see it." The animalistic sexual attraction, the emotional roller-coaster, the frustrated angst, the unintended personal reveals, the pithy dialog among all the players, the far more than casual unprotected sex and the playfulness all build with delightful scenes. The rest of the book becomes a swift page turning, edge-of-the-seat story telling that you will put down when your mind tells you're stiff and have to get up, but only for a moment. Yes, the stories will leave you horny, wishfully thinking and desperately excited before you reach the end of part one of a trilogy. This ending is not a cliff-hanger nor is it an HEA, however, the urge to buy the next book is definitely, seductively developed. The next story picks up seamlessly with the same characters but in a new location with new interactions. As you can see, this review is about why you should read this entertaining, smexy book. It doesn't have spoilers tell all the story. Ms Lee uses carefully selected words. Ones that may send you to the Oxford English dictionary for the differences in UK meanings or for the enrichment of your mind when she uses a very special word that just fits. This is a delightful romance with a hotness level that lives up to its name-blazing.

FEEDBACK

Author: Cori Lee
Title: Blazed

COVER: 6/10
In general, the readers thought the cover was ok. Simple with a strong, powerful image. The fonts were in keeping with the style of the cover although a few of the readers thought the lettering was a little bland. A few of the more conservative readers wanted a character on the front to relate to.

CONTENT 8/10
The readers very much enjoyed this book. They felt it was well written with well developed characters. They liked Emmy and the object of her lust, Blaze. They felt the book was a real ‘page turner’ and was excellently balanced with ‘lust, sex and the complicated characters’. One reader put in her feedback, This book is a lot of fun. It is a well-written romance but, at the same time, a sexy, hot read. Very enjoyable and fun.’
A few of the readers felt the beginning, when Emmy’s life (as interesting and complicated as it is) is introduced at great length. They felt, although the info is pertinent to the story, it could have been woven more delicately into the story.

EDITING 7/10
The readers thought the book was well edited and discovered no glaring problems with grammar, punctuation or spelling. They did feel the odd sentence could do with tightening up and perhaps rewriting. One reader put, ‘This book is grammatically strong and has excellent flow. The pace could do with a little work, particularly the first few chapters but, apart from that, the editing is excellent.’

STYLE 9/10
Very accessibly written. The readers loved the style of writing. They felt it was descriptive and the author really allows the reader to ‘get into the head’ of Emmy. One reader (woman, aged 45) put in her feedback, ‘I can’t help but compare this novel to Fifty Shades of Grey. And when I say compare, I mean to say this is much better. Not so sexy perhaps but the writing style is far superior.’

STATS
Of the 15 readers:
9 felt the cover, although professional-looking, could be much better.
15 would like to read a sequel.
12 felt the best part of the book was the balance between lust, sex and emotional development of the two characters.
3 felt the best part of the book was the intense style of the writing.
5 suggested trying to work the ‘character background’ of the central character into the text.

‘Sexy, fun and exciting. A high-octane ride.’ The Wishing Shelf Awards

It started off a little boring, but the further along I read, the more I got into it.
At first I didn’t really like Emmy’s character and wondered why she acted the way she did, with the drinking and bed hopping. Although I don’t exactly agree with her lifestyle/coping mechanism and she carried on that way for most of the book, we at least - along the way - got an insight into why she was the way she was.
And then she met Blaze. It wasn’t love at first sight, more like lust, but they had chemistry which did blossom into love, despite both of them refusing to acknowledge it.
When the secret came out it was a huge curve ball and (Spoiler: Made Blaze seem like a cold hearted prick.) Hopefully more will be explained in the second book of the trilogy (all of which you can pick up for free).

After reading the I'm with the Band-Meet me Halfway series I had to give this one a chance too. I was not disappointed. I started slow I though, but it got better and later I realized I needed to read that first part and understood it more.
