Despite dated science and trends I found myself agreeing with a lot of this book. I have noticed that every two hours I find myself needing to stretch from work or have a lie down and a nibble. When I don't get the chance to do so or put it off I end up feeling worse.
So good basic advice in that we need to take more frequent breaks and not starve ourselves. Whether or not these breaks are a necessary thing of our biology I'm less sure on but I'll go with any excuse for a nap.
This was very useful, and explained a phenomenon I've experienced for decades. His advice on how to harness and make use of the phenomenon is brilliant, and I've implemented much of that advice.
You should too. We all should get more rest and better care for our bodies and brains.
I'm reasonably sure that parts of the book may be dated but the science holds up the existence of the ultradian rhythms. It verified for me something that I didn't know that I was doing. A former co-worker of mine once commented to me that he noticed during high stress times that I tended to slow myself down. Very readable book.
An interesting look into the daily cycles our bodies engage in. I was familiar with circadian rhythms, but ultradian rhythms were new to me. It is a useful thing to understand in working with one's own stress response. The book could have used a good editor, as I think the order of presentation put the credibility and clarity of the information at a disadvantage.
