A great cookbook on well thought recipes of 21st century Americana. The quotes sprinkled throughout were kind of random, and I thought the writers should have put in more of a history tie-in, but still, a good cookbook for updated versions of classic dishes from the Eastern seaboard regions.

I grew up on an Iowa farm, amidst a family and community of good cooks used to using the highest quality fruits, vegetables, and meats. This cookbook was a trip into memory, but with new and wonderful additions such as fresh herbs and a few imported items now familiar, but not available in rural areas during my childhood, ie. Meyer lemons, capers, brie, mascarpone, and fresh seafood. Lavishly illustrated, this short collection is filled with simple recipes, kicked up to new heights--it never would have occurred to my mom to include golden beets and sweet potato with her pot roast, not to mention the fried onion garnish, or to enhance a chicken pot pie with just a touch of maple syrup. Every recipe is a gem, both for what it includes and as an idea generator.

I was lucky enough to get my eyes on an ARC of this terrific collection.

Farm fresh, down-home cooking recipes brought to you by the culinary team at Founding Farmers.

As a gardener myself, I end up doing a lot of canning and preserving at the end of the season. I loved that the first set of recipes were things to be canned. Classics such as dill pickles and new twists such as green tomato chow-chow were included.

The Starters and Snacks had some great surprised like bacon lollies that would please any bacon-holic! There is also a salad section with many fresh ideas, which many cookbooks overlook.

Main dishes included everything from burgers to chicken and waffles to a seven-cheese mac and cheese that I can not wait to try!

Overall, a great addition for kitchens and cooks that enjoy a farm-to-table approach.

Well written and beautiful pictures. I really like cookbooks that are simple and yet inventive, not overwhelming in exotic ingredients or elaborate instructions. This cookbook celebrates quality ingredients prepared in a way that the average cook can master.

Founding Farmers is probably my most-visited restaurant. I'm looking forward to recreating some favorites at home!
