Frederic Lamond over spent fifty years following the path of Gardnerian Wicca, adapting and innovating along the way. An initiate of Gerald Gardner s Bricket Wood coven in the 50 s and 60 s, Fred has been a witness to many of the significant events that have shaped the rise of Wicca, both in the UK and the USA. This is a masterful evocation of what it means to be a Wiccan in the 21st century.
This is a series of essays on various topics by the late Frederic Lamond - one of the first generation Wicca. The first part deals with early personal experiences as well as acquaintances from the "scene": Gerald Gardner, the Bricket Wood coven, Alexander Sanders (certainly entertaining to read how he was mistaken by him as a possible yellow press reporter, leading to a less than fruitful conversation), Raymond Buckland and the like. The other essays are his personal thoughts and ideas on craft topics such as calling elemental spirits in nature without the use of an athame, ritual language, wheather magic, the great rite and more. It's a bit like listening to Grandpa, talking about the "good old days"... even so, some of his suggestions are well worth considering and remarkably open-minded.
