An intriguing suspense book where danger lurked in almost every chapter. I admit to be drawn to anything about royalty so when I read this books title I knew I had to read it. I liked that the author gave Princess Lara a down to earth personality. When the beautiful Princess and the handsome Photojournalist Gabriel Murdoch fell in love I hoped it would work out for them. I was totally surprised to learn where the missing Beniots had been hiding out for so many years.
Princess Lara was an American Heiress who had fallen in love with royal European Prince Theo. He had died when a friend accidentally shot him while they were on a hunting trip. Princess Lara had always questioned whether it had been an accident or murder. Two years after his death she still grieved for her late husband.
When the Princess returned to her home in New Orleans to raise money for her favorite Charity a Photojournalist, Gabriel Murdoch gets assigned to shadow the Princesses activities and write an article about her Charity dinner she is holding in the city, to earn money for her organization. It isn't long before Gabriel and the Princess learn that someone wants her dead . Gabriel puts his investigation skills to work as he tries to protect the Princess . Could the famous Beniot painting that Prince Theo had gifted his wife before he died be the reason someone wants her dead? There are two missing Beniots that go with Princess Lara's painting. No one knows where they are but they are believed to be hidden away somewhere in New Orleans. The three Beniots are worth over three million dollars . Would that be reason enough to want to kill a Princess?

My Review of In Pursuit of a Princess

I enjoyed reading In Pursuit of a Princess. It has a princess, someone is out to hurt or kill her, Someone killed her husband, Missing artwork. The suspense was high for most of the book. Everybody has secrets and were revealed slowly. Lots of drama, action, mystery and some romance at the ball. I even learned a little and went and learnt some more did not know Acadian history.
Princess Lara Kincade is a American who married into royalty. She is back in New Orleans to host a fundraiser to build more houses for those who lost homes in New Orleans. She also wants to find proof of her husbands murderer. She does not believe it was a hunting accident.
Gabriel Murdock is a photojournalist who has a month to do a story on the Princess. It is part of his punishment by his bosses. He is their when the first mystery package is left for the princess. A voodue doll with a pin through the heart.
Someone wants to either scare the Princess or hurt her. Things keep escalating and people start getting hurt. Princess Lara is not sure who to trust. People don't want her to stay for the fundraiser. She is not sure she can trust all of her staff because someone keeps getting past her security.
Gabriel has promised to help protect her and keep her safe. He wants the full story when she is ready to tell it.
This is a clean romance. It does have a Christian theme in the paintings, mentions prayer and faith. No preaching fits into the story line naturally. Keeps you guessing till almost the end of the story.

This book tells the story of Princess Lara, an American who married into the royal family. Recently widowed, she is back in New Orleans to host a charity gala on behalf of her husband’s foundation to build more houses for those who lost their home in the recent nature disaster. There is a hidden agenda with her going back to the town. She wanted to find her husband’s murdered because she does not believe that he died in a hunting accident. Gabriel, a photojournalist who is recovering from an assignment, was assigned to follow Princess and to do a story about her. He thought this is an easy assignment for him but as the story developed, it proved to be not. Things started to get complicated when a mystery package was left for the Princess contained a voodoo doll with a pin through the heart.
I like Gabriel for his cool and calm personality. He is also very clear minded on what is going on. But similar to Princess Lara, he has some past issues to deal with but he is determined to keep Lara safe. Lara, on the other hand, is rather reckless in her doing especially on her mission to find proof of her husband’s murderer. I would say that the two characters complement each other pretty well. Overall, it is a solid read to me with great dialogue and intriguing characters.

I get a bit jaded after reading a lot of books in the Love Inspired Suspense range but this one was a refreshing change.

Gabriel kept reminding me of Han Solo, mostly because he insisted on referring to Lara as "Princess." Granted, Lara did marry into a royal family, but still. I enjoyed their relationship, but was frustrated by the chief conflict in the book. Both protagonists would get upset with the other for not being completely truthful when they were doing the same thing. It got a bit tired after a while.

An investigative reporter is on the job to paint a realistic picture of a widowed princess who is trying to fulfill the dream that she and her deceased husband had to build affordable homes in her hometown of New Orleans in the aftermath of a devastating hurricane. At the same time, the princess is attempting to draw out the person who shot and killed her husband.

I was bamboozled
Lenora Worth has delivered another amazing suspense novel. I have read many of her books and thought I had her pattern down. Apparently not. She bamboozled me and I never saw the end coming. Excellent work!

The title doesn't actually make sense, and I could never really believe in Lara as a princess. I know she only married in, but her surroundings and treatment never gelled with what I expected. She only sounded like an heiress, maybe. Somehow I didn't expect that before even opening the book, which I probably should have learned to do by now.
So Princess Lara Kincade, still mourning the death of her royal husband, goes to New Orleans to provide charitable relief and maybe find her husband's killer. What killed me is that I more than halfway through the book, IIRC, the fact that his death was not an accident is treated like a crazy twist, so maybe, "She also hopes to force [her husband's] killer out of hiding" shouldn't go into the summary.
Gabriel Murdock is a photojournalist assigned to write a fluff piece about Princess Lara, because he has baggage from his last, much higher profile story. He acts a lot more like a bodyguard than a photojournalist, but whatever.
I didn't read the summary (rarely do), but I still wasn't surprised about Prince Theo's death being a murder. What did surprise me was who the killer actually was, and not in a good way.
Lara turns out to be a liar, but in a really boring way. She sort of hints at having a secret reason for being in New Orleans throughout. But when it comes out, the rest of the book really doesn't bear the weight, especially when it comes to who else must have known the secret. There is a lot of incredibly token Suspicion, which at best looks like childish blaming and at worst looks stock and plastic.
The writing is also stilted and unnatural. Some phrases made me wonder if English is the author's second language. I don't mean it as an insult, at all. It's just that certain things jutted out to me as something no one would actually ever say. Some were just this side of normal, while others were rather gonzo. Like, "now he felt as though he'd done something tangible," (not sure an action can be tangible, although Oxford says 'sure'), and the phrase, "such stuff as that." Um, what?
There's a good story in here, but I don't know how much further it goes beyond the premise. There's some repetition, to the degree where it gets weird--a character will announce an action he means to take in a way that implies he's going to do it soon, and then he'll say the same thing one or two chapters later and do it for realsies. I went back and re-read once or twice, swearing that the guy had already done that thing he just now said he was gonna do.
I would admit to being really hard to please about the princess thing, but the other problems in both the writing and the story can't lay blame to any personal bias I might have. I don't think I'll give up on this author because of this book, but it hasn't made me a fan, either.

This was a pretty good book. Princess Lara has agreed to have a photographer/reporter follow her while she is home in New Orleans. Gabriel Murdock is there for a 'fluff' piece on the princess. She is home to continue her late husband's work but there is more to it than that and he wants to know all of it. His instincts lead him and he agrees to help Lara with her plot to find answers. Problem is, there is someone who wants to see her dead and all her security doesn't deter them in the least!
I liked Gabriel. He was strong and dependable. He had some past issues to deal with but he was focused on keeping Lara safe no matter what. Lara, honestly I got annoyed with, but I did like her. She wanted to find answers and didn't care if she got hurt in the process. She did some really stupid things but all of it were possible considering the situation. The support characters were interesting. I liked Lara's head of security but never trusted the assistant! The plot was good and the romance was a slow build with plenty of suspense thrown in.
I rate this a 4/5. It was a solid quick read.

Princess Lara is supposed to be a Princess Diana type figure. Gabriel is a photojournalist on a fluff assignment who decides to become her personal bodyguard after threats are made against her. Even though Lara already has a bodyguard.
The reveal of the "bad guys"/whodunnit was surprising to me. First, because it seemed to me that the bad guys weren't really involved in the plot, and secondly because I thought there would have been a much better more interesting opportunity with another character . So it ends up being a boy meets princess, someone hurts the princess, boy spends a lot of time trying to figure out who hurt the princess and trying to convince the princess that she needs to be careful, princess doesn't listen, gets hurt again and several more cycles until boy and princess half figure out/half stumble into a resolution, and boy kisses princess.
If you like art history you might enjoy this more than I did though. For me, this is going on the sell pile. Just not one of my favorites.

I liked how this story developed. It has suspense and a bit of romance as well. The author did very well at keeping you interested in the story with great dialogue and intriguing characters. The main character, Lara, is a princess and has to deal with the theft of expensive art. The main male character is written as a photographer and his name is Gabriel. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I thought the story moved from one scene to the next with ease and you wanted to keep reading to see what would happen next. I also liked the characters which sometimes does not happen when reading a story. You can easily cheer for the main characters to get together and be happy. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys quick stories with intrigue and a little romance.

Princess Lara receives a voodoo doll with a pin through the heart. S strange man has been seen by Deidre. They must keep the princess safe and guarded at all times. Lara starts receiving a lot of "Hang up calls". Her security tells her that her life could be in danger and she needs to report it to the police, but, Lara refuses. Now Deidre has either left or she has been taken from the Kincade house. She is involved in a car accident. They suspect Louis Armond of stalking the princess. He is a very rich, powerful man, who goes after and gets what he wants. I found myself not being able to put the book down. I just needed to find out what happened next.

Good story but it seem to be stretched from a good story to a book. It seemed that there was a lot of unnecessary repeats.
