[Siren Classic Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, werewolves, HEA] Hunters have taken everything from Devon Carsten. First, they murdered his parents, and now they’ve taken his brother. With no other options left, Devon decides an eye for an eye, or in this case a brother for a son, is the best course of action, and he takes the son of the man who kidnapped his brother. But his plan blows up in his face when he realizes the man in question is his mate. Aiden Stefano never imagined a weekend at home would start off with him being kidnapped by men claiming to be werewolves or that he would fall for one. Now he must find a way to convince Devon what they share is worth fighting for and prove to his father that wolves aren’t the monsters he believes them to be. Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Aiden is the only thing Devon has to bargain with, but can he give up his mate to save his brother? ** A Siren Erotic Romance
AJ Jarrett is happily married to her best friend and the mother of four, yes, four children. Born and raised in Missouri and loves the area most of the time, until it snows a ton. She enjoys reading and reads a lot. When not reading she can be found propped up in her favorite spot on the couch with her laptop plotting her next story or finishing one of her WIP.

It became apparent pretty fast that reading this I would have to squint a lot in an effort to ignore things. Such as “he was kidnapped two weeks ago” as opposed to “he has been missing one week”.
On a similar note I wonder how Aiden is putting on that fresh T-shirt while his wrist is still on the chain.
I’m not all that happy with this type of viewpoint switching, which consists in a scene from one point of view and then a recapping of said scene from the other before moving on. Something like this can work if used judiciously, i.e. only when it’s unavoidable. Not all the time. There are other ways to inform the reader of the other view of a scene – either during, or in retrospect.
The sex is… very purple. Hot steel and smouldering depths. That kind of thing.
This whole acceptance and belief thing happens blindingly fast. Along with what I suppose is intended to be love. I was thinking, “Ah, now we are starting to get somewhere,” but when I glanced at the progress bar the book was nearly over. That just felt… bizarre.
Yeah, the ending proves all over that acceptance and understanding are just a blink away for even the most hardened haters. Good for them, I suppose.
But hey, if you are looking for a fix of all-consuming, oversexed insta-love and a very quick read, this might be it. Just don’t mind the awful copyediting or lapses in logic too much.
Sorry to say this book left me flat..didn't really have any kind of build up, tons of talking without really saying anything. I guess I read too many shifter books where if someone touches a mate they get their asses kicked, and that didn't even happen in this book. I felt no fire between the MC at all, sad to say I thought the best person in the book was the Jerk of a brother because he seemed to be the only one with a personality.
I'm having a hard time picturing a family vet hunting people.
Of course the flamingly gay wolf with "feminine charm" loves to cook and clean.
How did he put a shirt on when his wrist was chained to the bed?
This is so dumb. He's so ready to accept his father is a hunter who killsthese people, this man he thought was just a wonderful person, in fact says that even after he finds out, and doesn't even protest they have the wrong guy?
Aiden cries way too much.
This happened too fast. I don't feel anything at all for them as a couple.
Okay that scene with the fork was pretty funny.
"No matter what his father had done, he was a good man." Um, no, no he's not.
Seriously? Going from hunting and killing werewolves one minute to inviting him for dinner the next? What a dumb ending.

I don't know why, but I love these books. A few years ago, I read another series by this author and some other authors all in one go and I just loved it. Moving on ... Devon was trying so hard to resist Aiden but there was no use. They were mates, they couldn't be apart, no matter how hard they tried. Aiden didn't know about this new world but he accepted it easily enough because of Devon. He felt their connection and he wasn't willing to give that up
Nice story, not an original idea but still nice. It was an easy read but with little explored plot. I found the emotional aspect to be resolved far to quickly and far to easily. Very little was spent on the development of the characters and their attachments and how they interacted with each other. It was too short which detracted from a lot of potential that was left unexplored. Plus Aiden's reactions seemed... on the side of unrealistic? Or maybe a better way to say it would be wishy washy. As for positives, the setting worked and the characters worked even though they were too quick in the change of opinions and how they just started to get along (at least it was for me). The flow of the story was good and I found it overall had a nice flow.
Yikes. This was sooooo bad. I expected more from the description and oh boy I was wrong. The borderline assault when Devon is touching Aiden when Aiden is sleeping: 🚩 That sould have been my first warning. Also, the last 40 pages felt rushed af. Aiden falling in love with Devon, in what, A DAY??? I get that this is fantasy but at least introduce some depth into the character's and their bond first. Also the way that Aiden's father accepted everything?? After being a hunter for like, what? 40 years? Weird. Idk, this book didn't make sense AT ALL. Minus points for Aiden and Viktor being annoying as fuck. I really can't stand them both. And also, Skyler's introduction in the book? Yikes.

2.5 to 3 stars The storyline has potential if cleaned up a bit. Didn't see a lot of reaction first from finding out his captive is his mate and then at the prospect of having to trade mate for brother. There was a small bit of angst but clearly not devastating as portrayed. Viktor second brother ended up being the most colorful character. Neither Aiden or Devon said or did anything to 'stand out' as a character.
I've been a fan of this series for a long time. Each story builds on the last while still being an individual book about specific mates. Well worth the time and money to read the whole set.
Good start to the shifter series. Loved both Devon and Aidan and their strong bonds against the odds. The solution with Aidan’s father came too quickly for me and felt out of sync with the rest of the book.
A short, fast paced read. I love books with mates having to overcome obstacles to be together. I liked that Aiden didn't roll over instantly and become submissive, and that he was strong, and spoke his mind. Looking forward to other books in the series.
This was a good story but I thought it could have been longer. There was potential for a good story line about Aiden helping Devon find Erik, but then again I'm so not the author!
