sometimes internet sensations do not make the transition into book sensations gracefully. this is one of those times.

and it might just be me. before everyone started reviewing this book on here, i had never heard of pusheen. this is a theme with me. grumpy cat, dog shaming - all that stuff i learned existed as websites and memes only after a book crossed my path.

i am barely a part of this world.

and so i read this book because that cat is cute, and everyone seemed to be celebrating pusheen with great fervor.

and the book?? it's okay.

there are some things like this that made me laugh with recognition:

but then i went to the website (http://pusheen.com), and i realized what a difference a little wiggle can make. because while it is in no way the height of cutting-edge animation technology, it's just so much…. cuter than the motionless pusheens in the book

and then i kind of went a little pusheen-crazy, leaving the confines of the site itself and finding little pusheens EVERYWHERE!

Un libro supersencillo, gracioso y lleno de cosas originales. Las hay más y menos originales, pero por lo general son ideas alocadas que te hacen reírte con Pusheen :D Lo que más me ha gustado ha sido el dibujo, el cómo Pusheen con dos simples cambios en los ojos pasa de estar triste a estar enfadado. Es un dibujo tan sencillo pero tan cuqui que es difícil no sentir apego por él. ¿Habrá más libros de Pusheen? Porque si es así, yo los quiero todos ♥ ¡Y es que se me ha hecho corto!

Up until recently I had never heard of Pusheen the Cat. I have no idea how as I love cats, love reading internet posts about the funny things that cats do, love looking at pictures of cats doing said funny things, etc, etc, etc. It took my friends on Goodreads and BookLikes reading this for Pusheen to appear on my radar and when I realized that this was up on NetGalley, I quickly requested it.

This book is adorable. If you're a cat owner, you should read this. I recognized so many different behaviors and quirks in Pusheen because of my own three cats. I especially liked the passage about sleeping and here's why:

As I've mentioned in a few other reviews, my nine year old hates to read. It breaks my heart. I'm constantly searching for titles to pique her interest and I struck gold with this little book, I am Pusheen the Cat.

Usually, when I bring a book home from work for her, she takes one look at the title and then puts it on her desk. Where it sits, until I have to take it back to the library again. This one was a completely different experience. I handed it to her. She sat down. She opened the book and read it cover to cover right then. I was blown away. Seriously, you could have picked my jaw up off of the floor.

There's no story to this book. It's just a series of cutsie pictures of Pusheen and her sister, Stormy. There are, however, some tricky vocabulary words thrown in like "inconvenience" or "procrastinator". I was in mommy/librarian heaven, helping her sound out the words and explaining what they meant. I can't say enough how much it meant to me to find something she liked, no, loved.

For me, I am Pusheen the Cat is a three star book at most. It's cute, sure, but that's about it. For my child, however, this is the holy grail of graphic novels. If you have a reluctant reader, I can't recommend it highly enough. In fact, I may pay this book the ultimate compliment (in my mind) and purchase a copy of it for my home. Coming from a public librarian, that's high praise indeed.

First of all, I need to be honest with you. I don't like cats. Don't hate me yet, I do have my reasons and it has to do with a bad childhood experience... that being said, I love Pusheen. My dogs will hate me if they read this, but I think she's so adorable and cute it's impossible not love her. Can I say Stormy is the most beautiful cat sister in the world? xD



I have the suspicion I may have been a cat in another life... Claire Belton is a wonderful author, I'm not a cat person but I think she really capture the spirit of what being a cat really means and how deep they are ^^

This was probably the most adorable thing I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I spend way too much time on Pusheen's blog, giggling like a preschooler at her silly kitty antics. This is a wonderful compendium of many of our favorite kitty's tidbits of advice on how to live the best life: a cat's life. Honestly, it's a good thing Pusheen isn't real or I would've hugged her to death by now. I am seriously jealous of her life. A cat's life is the life for me. Oh, and let's not forget her equally cute little sister, Stormy. I needz these aminalz in my life.

I Am Pusheen The Cat. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Pusheen changed my life, from the moment I met her. Her beauty, her talent, her modesty. I constantly wanted to reach out and touch her, feel her fur through my fingers. She has an admirable sense of humour, and many hobbies including eating, sleeping, and of course, blogging. She is cunning and intelligent. She loves food, and lives by the 5 second rule. She is perfect. She is Pusheen the Cat.


But seriously, this book is one of the cutest, funniest, most adorable books you'll ever come across. I loved every moment of it, and adored learning about Pusheen's hilarious little life. The pictures are incredible, I'm sure there's one for every situation. Once you read I Am Pusheen The Cat, it will never leave your mind. Pusheen will occupy it whatever your doing. When you eat, you'll be reminded of Pusheen's love of food, when you blog, you'll remember Pusheen's tumblr blog. It will change your life, like it changed mine.

I Am Pusheen the Cat has to be one of the cutest, most adorable books I have ever marveled at, and browsing through it, I more than once wished to be a cat* a child again, just so there would be the slim chance of someone giving this book to me as a present.

*I mean, honestly, who wouldn't want to be a cat when your day could look like this?



But in all seriousness; who could resist this lovely cat?

I knew that I would be sold by Pusheen's first comic collection when I saw one of the panels comparing her to Batman.

"I Am Pusheen the Cat" is an adorable collection of short comics that are based on a series of internet memes that have become wickedly popular (and for good reason!). If it were possible to die of maximum cuteness and hilarity, I probably would've done so over this brief read.

Pusheen, alongside her younger sister Stormy, are showcased in five parts - an introduction to Pusheen, things that are true to cat life, how Pusheen chooses to live (like a boss), an intro to Stormy, her sister, and basically a year in the life - which is a showcase of Pusheen and Stormy looking adorable as they go through the special occasions of the year.

Really the thing you need to know about Pusheen is that she eats, sleeps, and gets herself into odd situations that usually involve eating, sleeping, or being lazy. Sometimes a little more extravagant than that, even if it may be in her imagination. The humor's fun. Even I had to laugh at some of the times when Pusheen gets into some sort of mischief - something that causes other people to love her and/or be annoyed (like Pusheen using Stormy's ruffled fur to do some Spring cleaning).

I seriously read this in about 10 or 15 minutes tops, ending up with a big grin on my face in the process, but I could see this as being a valuable collectors item for anyone of any age. It has that kind of appeal, both for a wide audience and also just for its general good humor. I would definitely recommend this adorable, fun read, and would love to read more into Pusheen and Stormy's adventures in the future.

Before I read this book, I had assumed that Pusheen was just a Facebook emoticon. I'm so glad I picked this comic up! It's a quick, entertaining, and adorable read. Fans of cute drawings and adorable cats will love this! We get to see Pusheen and all her antics, plus we also see her sister, Stormy.



I loved how this book could make you laugh and want to share with other people the cuteness that is Pusheen! I was randomly stopping and laughing at random pages before finishing. This is usually about a 15 minute read, but it took me about 40 minutes just because it was really hard to keep from going "awwwww" every other page or so. When I finished reading this, I read it again, just because I could!

The only aspect that I did not enjoy was the fact that I couldn't enjoy the animations as much because I was seeing it from my Kindle.

I recommend that if you want a quick, fun read, you should definitely pick up the physical version of this book.

An adorable little ball of fluff and cuteness. I'm flipping back through it as I write this and I can't help but smile. Great pick for even very young kids or cat people of any age who enjoy a lighthearted cartoon book now and then. For extra enjoyment, procure a child who's already read it and have them sit next to you while you read it and periodically laugh, so the child can lean over excitedly to see what you just read and laugh with you.

I have three cats in this house and one that is angling to get in. I love cats and am a cat person. And I skimmed some of the five star reviews to see what I was missing about how great this stuff is. And I feel like an old grumpy guy writing this, and I'm NOT grumpy, really I'm not, but yikes, maybe it is all the endless flow of funniest cat videos my kids are watching on You Tube or the endless stream of cat pictures I am seeing daily on Facebook, but this was not really adorable to me. I hope you all love it, enjoy! If you want adorable AND insightful, go to any of Jeffery Brown's cat comics or the My Cat is Plotting to Kill Me. I mean, not every cat book is great, yikes.

I am slightly obsessed with Pusheen. I discovered it about five or six years ago, and have loved it ever since. It might because Pusheen is a cat, and I have an obsession with cats. I saw that there was a graphic novel called I Am Pusheen the Cat, and had to check it out. I enjoyed it.

I Am Pusheen the Cat was hysterical. I loved seeing all of Pusheen's adventures, and learning more about her. There's something about her that just so adorable. I especially loved the "Understanding your cat's emotions" comic. It reminded me a lot of my cat, Sir Pig. The only thing that I found slightly disappointing about this book was that I had seen a few of the comics online before. In fact, I have seen a couple of them so many times that it's starting to lose it's funniness, such as the 4th of July one. Most of them however, were new to me, and really funny.

I loved I Am Pusheen the Cat. It had me cracking up laughing most of the time I was reading it. The book was also extremely easy to identify with, being a cat owner. I hope that the author comes out with more of these comics in a physical book bind up. I would definitely read them. I recommend this book to cat lovers everywhere, and those that can't get enough of cute things.

Apparently Pusheen the Cat is a super-popular blog by writer/artist Claire Belton, about a fat cat called Pusheen who eats and sleeps all day long - like every other cat on the planet! I was expecting a book in the style of How To Tell If Your Cat Is Plotting To Kill You but really this is just a series of repetitive “jokes” that are one-pagers, if not one-imagers, that don’t really add up to much.

For example, there’s a series of images of Pusheen reimagined as colourful dinosaurs that’s exactly what it is and nothing more, or a series on Cat Etiquette which are just observations every cat owner ever will already know like their cat messing up the litter tray for no reason or standing on your lap with their butt toward you. Yeah…?

If that’s your bag, then you’ll love this - fans of Hello Kitty/kawaii are probably the target audience. Me, not so much. I was bored reading most of this - though you do fly through it, it’s like reading a series of greeting cards - and kept trying to figure out how this blog has a millions-strong audience when all it seemingly offers are the most banal scenes of a cat doing practically nothing!

Apparently this cat has a cult following, his own blog and now a book. I am in no way a graphic or comic reader but this was for a challenge so here it is. This silly little book will appeal to cat people. Covers cats at rest, cats eating, cats at play and various other cat activities. The only cat in my family is my married daughter's cat. named Mocha, who is not a very nice cat and I actually believe she is quite insane.

Creo que me esperaba mucho más de este librito, y como que se me quedó corto.
Las imágenes de Pusheen no me han conquistado en su totalidad, más bien pocas son las que me gustaron en realidad, y varias por los comentarios adjuntos.
Es un libro súper rápido, por el mismo hecho de que posee muy poco texto, creo que en lo qué más me tardé fue en leer los agradecimientos, y probablemente me llevó en total unos 2o minutos más o menos.
En cuanto a edición, es perfecta, me gusta mucho la portada, el papel ilustración es de lo mejor y los colores -no demasiado chillones- son muy agradables a la vista.
Si nos vamos a tema trama, lo único que puedo aclararles es que a lo largo de las páginas conocemos a las gatitas Pusheen y Stormy, y sus gustos y hábitos, algunos muy divertidos.
En definitiva, si les llama la atención inicien su lectura, aunque por aquí en Argentina está rondando los $500 su compra.

I have to say that I was a fan of the comic before I picked up this book. There is something about the drawings, and the sense of humor that just really works for me. The author does a really good job capturing the nature, and attitude of cats, and reminds me of the cats that have been part of my family over the years especially the ex-Tom cat, Tommy, that adopted my parents last winter. I love the not too sweet humor that fills this book, and the drawings never fail to make me smile. Perfect reading for me while I have a cold, and it will be on my go to list for the dark days this winter.
