In the third page-turning novel in the captivating Warriors series, a fiery lass bent on revenge meets her match in a powerful Norse warrior.
If only Bridget MacCulloch, descendant of the mighty Picts, could control her temper and overcome her lack of patience, she’d likely be the most formidable warrior of her day. But how’s she supposed to master that temper when all the men she encounters seem determined to thwart her every move, suggesting that she find a good husband and settle down? Her only interest in life is avenging her father’s death—a goal which in no way includes spending time with the arrogant, domineering Norseman who saved her life.
As a descendant of the Norse god Thor, Halldor O’Donar carries his ancestor’s title as the Protector of Man. Though he’s plagued by interfering Faeries, he’s determined to save Mankind from a monster that escaped from his ancestors’ world. The last thing he wants is a wild-tempered woman to distract him from his quest.
But the Fates have other ideas. Brie and Hall find that the only way to meet their individual goals is to work together. To succeed, she must learn to harness her negative emotions to free the power of the warrior within, and he must let down his protective walls to allow one very special woman inside...
Melissa Mayhue lives in Colorado, in the shadow of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, with her family, two insanely spoiled dogs, one domineering cat, a turtle with an attitude, and way too many fish in their aquarium. If any one thing is obvious about the books I like best, it's that I love my Happy Ever After endings!!
Warrior Untamed is the 3rd book in Melissa Mayhue’s Warrior series. When we left off in Warrior Reborn, I suspected that our heroes would be Bridget and Hall, and I was right. Warrior Untamed picks up with Hall rescuing and bringing Brie back to Castle MacGahan. Brie and Hall have very strong feelings for each other. Hall though tries desperately to hold back his feelings, as he is a descendant of Thor, and knows he cannot take Bridget with him, when he returns. Brie is a one of a kind heroine, tough, confident, temperamental, independent and stubborn, not to mention a perfect female warrior. She truly is a perfect match for Hall. But despite her feelings for Hall, Brie senses his distance, even though she can see the desire in his eyes, and just takes it as meaning he isn’t interested in a woman like her.
It is Brie’s stubbornness and intense desire to enact revenge against our villain, Torquil for killing her father. She will not let anyone stand in her way, which is difficult as both Hall and her brother, Jamesy want to protect her by forcing her to stay back in the Castle. Brie sneaks out more then once along the way, always a step of ahead of them, though Hall does catch up with her a few times.
The villain, Torquil, is actually a beast that has taken over his body. Fenrir lives inside Torquil, and will stop at nothing to kill anyone who tries to lock him up again. Hall knows that Brie’s stubbornness will get her killed, or worse yet, the beast will overtake her body. She keeps escaping Hall, and each time he comes to her rescue, but Brie will not be stopped, as it is her right to kill Torquil. This is an exciting adventure, and Hall and Brie made a fabulous couple. The sexual chemistry between them is hot, and despite their misgivings, they are both very much in love with each other. Will Hall be able to find a way to have Brie as his mate? Will Hall be able to save a reckless Brie? Will both Torquil and Fenrir meet their deserved end?
Melissa Mayhue once again creates a fabulous story, and brings everything to a conclusion. I loved the epilogue when we get to see all of the fabulous heroes of the three books, and see how they are doing in their lives. I am a huge of fan of Melissa, and am dying to know what is next (besides her contemporary romance Take a Chance)? Warrior spinoff? Daughters of the Glen? If you have not read this series, you need to start with Warrior Redemption and then continue on to Warrior Reborn and Warrior Untamed. Great series for the always fantastic Melissa Mayhue.
I loved the blend of Scottish beliefs with Norse mythology. The plot was very exciting and I loved the characters. Loved this book. Melissa Mayhue books are very good!!!
As a woman in a mans world, the heroine fights daily and with great pride to prove to everyone she's a capable warrior. But no one will listen, no one will believe her or allow her to show them until the hero. As a descendant of Thor and one of the Gods chosen warriors, he can see the heroine abilities and skills but still he wants her nowhere near danger. Not because he doesn't believe in her, but rather he just wants her safe. He fears for her every time she stubbornly puts herself in a dangerous situation and it's damaging his calm. With her, though he's a cool character with a level head and sharp intelligence and God like abilities, he finds himself easily riled. She's the perfect woman for him in every way but she drives him absolutely crazy. But when he's wounded by the sword they both seek and it infected with the poison within, she saves him. She kills his attacker and vows to get him to a healer who can help him. She does this because though she talks a big game and puts on the face that he means nothing, in truth he means everything. With him she can imagine marriage and children, something she's never thought of before. But even though the hero loves her with everything inside him he knows their future is impossible. He's a chosen warrior, a wander. He can't imagine the heroine a wife, staying at home waiting for him to return. So they do their dance, convincing themselves and each other that they don't care as much as they do. They were very much alike in their stubbornness. But the heroine certainly takes the cake. Normally I detest her character type- stubborn, demanding and reckless, putting everyone else in danger just so she can be a part of action. And though the heroine was stupid and reckless, I forgave her up to a point as she really is the chosen one to use the sword to kill the demon. And she's capable enough in battle. But her attitude grated on me. The hero was a lovely lead male but unfortunatly neither he nor his female counterpart had much of a personality. Nothing was delved into past the surface layer. No deeper darker emotions or fear or anything. It was a very one note story with very one note characters. But, I liked it well enough. Just don't read this expecting anything mind blowing or even special because it wasn't.
I didn't think any of Ms. Mayhue's books could top the way I loved her first ones, but then she wrote THIS! I This is now my favorite book of hers. I absolutely love the characters in this book and there is plenty of adventure in the book that I love too. I love that the heroine, Bridget, is one feisty warrior woman and the hero, Hall, is her equal in every way and treats her with awe and respect.
I was so hoping after I read the last one and Bridget and Halldor were in it, that they would get their very own story. I love the way she surrounds her characters with close knit family and friends. I can't say anything better about this book except it's going on my keeper shelf. I know I used the "L" word a lot in this review but I.LOVE.THIS.BOOK!
Like all her books, this is just as great. One of my Favorite characters in this series. I liked Hall from the previous book.
This is a great read. Love the story line, the flow is done well and I am hooked into her books. ALL of them. Hall and Bridget make for a fun ride. It has everything you want and more. Bickering, laughs, action, quests. Like all her books once you start reading you wont be able to put it down.
I was not fond of Bridget in the previous book. I don't know why I just was not. But this book redeemed her and made her someone I would totally understand. Hall is as always yummy and so mysterious. But all that changes. A must read book.
An incredible end to an incredible trilogy. Absolutely loved this one. No time travelers this time (which was the only not-as-good part about the entire book), but it more than made up for it. I always love me a good romance with a warrior woman. And because of said warrior woman, this one had a lot more action than the other two. Also, I'm pretty sure she set up her next series at the end of this one, going off of what Elesyria did and all. Can't wait, if I end up being right. Though I was a bit disappointed that she didn't really do anything with the Elesyria/Patrick subplot I felt throughout the trilogy. Oh well, hopefully she'll finish that up in another book. *crosses fingers*
Bridget "Brie" MacCulloch is a fierce warrior woman out to get revenge on Torquil MacDawylt, the man who killed her father. Halldor O'Donar is a direct descendant of Thor who is on a mission to destroy a demon called Fennir who has possessed Torquil. This is a romantic story where Brie and Hall travel together, fight together, rescue each other and fall in love.
This is supposedly the conclusion of the series but the storyline was left open for more. I certainly hope that pans out as I really want to read Jamesy's story.
Warrior Untamed continues a series and tells the story of Brie and Hall. Brie is a fierce woman determined to get revenge and Hall is a warrior determined to fight his connection to Brie. It's a battle meant to be lost of course but a lot of fights and sneaking off happens to get there. The writing is fast paced and full of action and plenty of romance. Lovers of Mayhue will be happy to read more from her. She has a way with writing a good fantasy novel.
ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL! <3 Very well named! This has an unusual heroine ~ a true warrior herself, strong and unaccepted by her family. I adored her and her hero is perfect for her. Their struggles to become a couple were well written and the balance of story, action, love and magic was perfect. This is one of Melissa's best. I truly hope she finds a way to continue this series as it is where her writing heart lies. I can't wait for James' story!
I love the warrior series and the 3rd installment of Brie and Hall was a great ride! Where else can you get the blend of fae meets norse meets modern world. Perfect amount of adventure and romance. Mayhue never disappoints!
This was a good ending. I was pretty confused in the beginning, but that has more to do with me than the story. Wish I could see more of the daughters there, but it was still good...I miss Pol
Liked the idea of a kick ass lead character, unfortunately she was a bit wishy-washy for me. Language style was inconsistent. It redeemed itself by being a fun read. A good vacation book.
