It's been a year since Beau, Edgar and Gabe went to earth and found themselves in a battle to protect Heaven and East Lake. A year since Beau and Emma fell in love. Almost a year since Beau had to go back to Heaven and the last time Emma saw him. Long distance relationships are hard enough but, when you live in two different dimensions and only one of you is flesh the odds are stacked against you.
There's some serious buyer's remorse going on for me in buying the second and probably the third books in this series. Will I return them like so many do when it comes to Kindle books? No. I bought them, I won't take that royalty payment away from any author. This book picks up a year after the events of the first book. Our three heavenly guardians and their human charge are keenly feeling the weight of not being physically around each other, which has taken devastating strains on their odd friendships. It doesn't help when Emma seems to be moving on with her mortal human life without Beau, and only he can see the problem with that. I'm not even sure what genre this series is supposed to be. This book was less rushed as the author attempted to build up to all of two pages you get that make the title make sense. The two hundred pages before that just seem to drag on forever in a neverending loop that has the reader just as irritated and frustrated as Edgar and Emma are with Beau. Naturally, because everything else dragged on endlessly, the best parts were once again rushed, giving us a total of five pages of the two hundred and nine that were actually worth pushing through to. The concept for this series is good. It's creative; and the way Heaven and the interaction between Angels, Spirit Guides, and their charges are is unique. But, the rushed feeling these first two books have doesn't give me much hope for the last book in this trilogy. Will I read it? Absolutely. I want to know how this story ends. I still maintain this series has a ton of potential to be something great and memorable, the author just needs to sit down and bring it together in a less erratic way. It wouldn't hurt if they hired a new a editor either, the amount of missing words in this book was at least double the last book. I give this book 3 of 5 Paws because again, I see the potential. My hope is the author will see this review not as somthing negative, but as a reason to revisit this work and perhaps dust it off a bit more so it shines the way I can see it can.
An loving this series!! Really liked book 1 in the Heaven High series, and I really like this one too!! I love the relationships between each of the characters and their interactions together. I love that Beau and Edgar maintain their human qualities and the balance between them and Gabe! Cannot wait to red the next one!!
