Ini pertama kalinya saya membaca buku Chicken Soup dan penasaran apa sih bagusnya cerita-ceritanya. Ternyata oh ternyata....

100% ceritanya boring semua. Saya jadi bertanya-tanya apa sih bagusnya Chicken Soup sampai banyak yg baca bukunya?

A collection of firsthand accounts, either humorous or awkward, about meetups, dates, and relationships. Nothing extraordinary, but I did get some creative ideas ;)

Usually, when I review an anthology I review each story/piece, but this was a monster of a book in terms of how many stories were in here. This means I am not going to review each one. Instead, I am going to do some general thoughts as well as highlight the stories that caught my attention or stories where I had a strong emotional response.

General
For some reason, I thought a lot of these stories would be upbeat, but there was a cautionary tale and some sad stories. While there were 11 chapters, there were 101 stories/pieces. I felt that was a lot. Based on what I read in the back, these Chicken Soup for the Soul books are based on people's submissions. To me, this means that the books are at the mercy on what is submitted, but someone is selecting them. This makes me wonder on whether there were any stories submitted where a person had a religious background and how that effects the concept of dating. There were a lot of meet-ups that were sweet and adorable!

Chapter 4 By Your Side: The Muffin Man by Karen Bauer
I cried. Talk about love and divine intervention!

Chapter 5 Looking for Love Dot Com: WriterChick Seeks Soulmate by Jesse Hayworth
What great about this was it was true! To me, this once again evidence that what is portrayed in books, movies, and TV shows could become reality given the right circumstances.

Chapter 7 Never Too Late for Love: First Love Rekindled by Molly O'Connor
For me, this is common occurrence in the real world, which is why I do not like these stories in movies and fictional books.

There were some more stories that I attracted my attention, but I cannot find them all at this time.

Another great Chicken Soup for the Soul. I've finished this long time back, but this book shares interesting dating stories, some works and some don't. Its a fun read if you are looking for short dating stories.

It was ok. Not particularly inspiring. Just a book primarily on meet-cutes.

No matter how many Chicken Soup for the Soul books I read, I never get tired of them! Their stories always uplift and inspire so when I got The Dating Game, I knew it would be no different. And I figured with such a happy subject, it might be even more inspirational than usual!

With several different categories including Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Let’s Forget This Ever Happened, The Moment I Knew and By Your Side just to name a few, there are all sorts of types of stories to choose from!

I’ll admit I went straight to ‘Let’s Forget this Ever Happened’ because I felt like a good laugh! And laugh I did! From puking to spills to minor injuries, I laughed out loud through all these dating disasters. Luckily they all turned out ok. If someone can laugh with you instead of at you during your most embarrassing moments, you probably have a good shot at a lifetime of laughter!

My other favorite section was ‘Never too Late for Love.’ Who doesn’t like a good comeback story? It’s never too late, regardless of your age, history or circumstance. These people found love again after losing a first spouse to death or divorce. Some even found each other again after living a lifetime apart. I loved these heartwarming stories.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Dating Game will warm your heart and make even the most pessimistic about love believe again!

Chicken Soup for the Soul The Dating Game makes you laugh, cry, reminisce and everything in between because there were so many stories that made you think of your own dating experiences. No matter what level you are on whether you are just starting to date or have been dating for awhile this book will make you remember that their is a perfect match for each one of us. Just keep reading, trying and dating and your prince/princess charming will be headed your way before you know it.

This book has restored my faith that there is someone out there for me and we're both desperately trying to find each other.
There are plenty of chapters in this book that appeal to all subjects of dating. It's not all about finding Prince Charming with the happily ever after endings. The chapter "It's not Me, it's You" is funny as it tells of horrible dates that made me laugh out loud.

The quotes are nice, I enjoyed those.

Stories wise, it was okay. I enjoyed reading how other people met their spouse. Every life, and every love is different. It's nice reading other peoples' beginning, middle, and end. When one love ends, another opens.

An easy read. I wasn't moved by the book, but there were some stories and quotes that made me smile for a brief moment.
