Enter stage left: A jealous Ren! Reino ups his creep skill with a new ability- but his reaction is priceless! We get more hints at romance in this one so that made me very happy. The tension drives me nuts between them and I love it! Vol 17 has a major squeal moment! Kyoko faces a dilema about her roles that is easy to empathize with. We get a new character-Koo. I disliked him at first but he quickly grows on you. His challenge for Kyoko is awesome and I love all the results. The President (Also now known as Boss) cracked me up with is struggle with a video game. Ah man this guy!!! This edition was amazing! Some of the best volumes here!!!
Ah, I love this series, Kyoko is such a fun, vibrant heroine and I adore following her. We also get a lot of Ren and Ren's past and connections in these 3 Volumes. Vol 16: The aftermath of Kyokos run in with her stalker, lands Ren in a place of jealousy and minor depression. Sho is making the most of the situation too, and Kyoko is trying to juggle it all in her unique way.
Vol 17: We have some really sweet Kyoko x Ren moments in this volume as well as glimpses or hints into more Ren thoughts and mysterious background. Kyoko begins a struggle against being typecasted and accepts the first Love Me Section job in a while from the president as someone with a close connection to Ren appears, Koo (original Katsuki actor).
Vol 18: Kyoko goes toe-to-toe with Koo who is set on making her mission to take care of him a pain, but when she struggles with her typecasting fears Koo helps by assigning an acting challenge to her, but her acting brings more dejavu for the actor than he'd bargained for. Meanwhile Ren is trying to figure out what the president is up to with assigning Kyoko to Koo and keeping a watchful eye on Kyokos mood.
I really enjoyed reading this book after reading the problematic volume previously. It was nice to read a book and not be worried about what was going to happen. I was so into reading this manga that I almost missed my train stop and make myself late for work one day (luckily that didn't happen), and I ended up starting the next manga straight after as I had it in my bag. I would definitely recommend this series I would just warn that the previous manga is problematic.
This brings out so much feels within me that it seems almost too impossible, but because this series is the only series that does so, it is not that much of a big surprise. We get to meet new characters, which is always exciting but there is one that I am really happy and he makes me laugh even more. He is like his son with Kyoko, mostly from his expressions when around her. Hee hee...
I only gave it 3 stars because it took me long to read it and i felt like i was losing interest because i wasn't reading it during the daytime like i used to lol! Didnt know that my reading experience is better in the daytime.
I love how the president is trying to get ren and kyoko together soo cutee! I will definitely be buying the next vol soon!
17 slowed down a little for me but I am still loving them! It looks like things are picking back up. I am almost caught up to what my library has. I have to order 25-36 specially so it will be a while before I finish the series.
I also don’t remember her having trouble acting as Natsu and getting yelled at by the director and betrayed by one of the actresses on the tv drama. I want to know what happens next since I don’t remember.

In this volume, it starts off with Sho and Ren secretly declaring war with Kyoko as the prize. Kyoko is getting allot of job offers but she not really pleased about the directions the roles are heading. Someone makes a return to Japan. Could this man have ties to Ren's past? Kyoko get assign as a aid for this returning actor. What starts off as a frustrating job turns into a trip down memory lane with a little bit roleplaying. Will Kyoko grow? Can't wait to get the next one.
SERIES REVIEW: (Side note - I have read more than what's official by reading translated online scans, as such my view may be a bit biased based on further plot developments.) Skip Beat is possibly the best shoujo I have ever read! While the art style may throw newer readers off as it is very 90's/early 2000's do NOT let it keep you from giving this manga a try! The characters and plot more than make up for any lacking art. Kyoko is my favorite protagonist I have ever read - book or manga. This is not your typical shoujo by any means. It has romance but focuses more on Kyoko's growth as an individual as well as her determination to find herself. The other characters are not left behind either. They are also constantly growing and changing in different ways giving off such a vibrant and realistic vibe (well mostly realistic-if you have read it you know what I mean) If you are looking for romance, comedy, a shoujo with depth this is the one. While at times the slower romance pace is frustrating the pay offs make it worth it. Instead of a cheap fix so many shoujo manga are doing this is a slow burning master piece. I really cannot give this series enough praise and everyone - shoujo fan or not, manga fan or not - needs to give it a try!
After Sho helped Kyoko she wasn't really sure how to deal with it, but in this one she has more problems to deal with than Sho and Ren. Like the fact that she only seems to be getting jobs that make her the bully. She's unsure how to do this, and what's the right move or not. And when someone from Ren's past shows up things get a lot more interesting especially with Kyoko right in the middle of it all.
I adored this one! It was so amazing getting to see so much more of Ren's past, but I'm totally curious as to when Kyoko is going to learn about it herself. I hate that she doesn't know. But I am looking forward to her learning about it!
Other than that I felt that Kyoko really learned a lot and grew as a character in this one! It was a really great read and of course I can't wait to read more!
I don't like the Vie Ghoul and the Reino arc, especially in this volume. Kyoko is too casual about it. Sho is cool though, and it's cool to see him go through growth as a person and a musical artist.
However I LOVE the Koo arc, especially when Kyoko plays Kuon. Her relationship with Koo is adorable to see grow, and then her performance of Kuon and interaction Ren is just so good.
