Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.

As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

The Navy and pirates already make a pact only for Punk Hazard. Their focused is to bring down Caesar Clown and his dangerous experiment in the black market, also the brain behind all of this called Joker. Everybody must know who he is. Hahaha... Also this volume revealed some Law's past with the navy officer, Vergo-"san". All the talk and actions seems well-balance but some confusing part with too fast transition between places.

This one was so epic, as Luffy and the others are trying to save others, he comes into contact with Momonosuke after a fight with Caesar, the children are going desperate and Chopper and Nami have to deal with them, there is an amazing story and moment with the girl Genya and then the stuff with Zoro and Tashigi fighting Monet and then we learn of the man behind it all aka DOFLAMINGO and how he has been producing a fruit named Smiley and all and then the final battle with Law, Smoker and soon Luffy with Caesar is here, this arc is just so epic with so many revelations and breath taking fights and the art and colors are just next level, the emotions are on rampant display!

Honestly I m not the biggest fan of this arc. It isn’t bad at all, but nothing really happens that makes me absolutely hyped or emotional. Everything is just a bit blah.

After thinking the last volume was just okay, Volume 69 felt like a step up. There’s still a lot of moving parts and new storylines (i.e., Kin'emon’s son Momonosuke and his transformation into a dragon) being added to make this more complicated than it needs to be, but Oda Sensei started to weave them all in together. We also finally got to see more of the long standing effect of Caesar Clown’s work besides creating weapons of mass destruction, namely the creation of artificial devil fruit, a truly frightening concept.

Beyond the (slightly) easier to read nature of the volume and the lore revelation there were plenty of individual moments that added up to a strong volume. I liked the bit where almost all of the Straw Hats (and Kin’emon) tag teamed the dragon attacking them. It was sweet seeing everyone’s attempts to stop the kid’s addiction to the “candy” and tragic how this volume left off on the arc. I also really liked seeing Smoker’s fight with Vergo and his and Tashigi looking after their crew of misfit Marines. It is weird/annoying at first that Sanji was getting considerable time with Tashigi instead of Zoro but then we got the quasi-team up between her and Zoro. If there’s one thing Punk Hazard has going for it it was pushing Smoker and Tashigi back into the spotlight after all the other Navy characters pushed them out since Alabasta 40+ volumes ago. Lastly its always fun seeing Luffy lose it on One Piece villains and smacking them down.

Hopefully Oda Sensei can make the climax of Punk Hazard as good as this volume.

2025 reread : I love this cover. I also love the volume. Luffy meeting Momonosuke (this is the only time I'll mispell your name buddy, from now on you're Momo ^^) works so perfectly. This arc is setting up many things for later but also works very well on its own (in my opinion). The introduction of the SAD and artificial devil fruits is very intesting and has such important ramifications. I love this arc.

Still great. Maybe not as much as the previous one but I can't resist when you put Luffy getting mad and Zorro and Talfagar being badasses in the same book ^^

Lethal gas all over the place, yet I have a hard time telling what it all looks like and where everyone is - the paneling teaming up with some all too similar backgrounds and scenery. But when it's clear, it's great: Law and Zoro both get some good moments of badassery here, some of their best. And Caesar still doesn't know what he's dealing with. What a slimeball.

This volume was great! Really bringing together all the threads and I absolutely loved how furious Chopper was. Caesar is truly despicable and Luffy punching him was so goddamn satisfying.

First and foremost, 5 stars for the doodle of baby Magellan. That alone made my day. Any time Oda includes the kid versions of some of the characters I can't help but love it.

I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I can't say how much I appreciate the who's who at the beginning of each volume.

We all need to take a moment to appreciate how well developed these characters are. Take Smoker and Tashigi as an example. It took no time at all for Oda to clearly show us their personalities, and their ideals. Every time they pop into the story we know exactly what to expect, and there's no disappointment. It just blows my mind that some of these side characters are better than many main characters I've read...lol

And the way he sets up future events is just perfection.

Also...I ship Zoro and Tashigi so much. Is it likely to happen? Probably not, but it still makes me happy to pretend it will.

Punk Hazard arc is by far my favourite after the time skip. Caesar Clown, Law, Smoker, Vergo, and Zoro; all the fights are so simple, yet so good.
Doflamingo is next, can't wait.

This volume was a lot more engaging to me. I felt the transitions between POVs was a lot smoother. Despite being a volume with more fighting, I did like the structure of these fights and the progression through the Lab. There is promise of more to come, which has me pumped for where this story is headed!

Exactly as expected.

Before vol. 69 the tee was set. This volume the golf ball is set down and the golfer is mid swing. One could arguably say the golfer (Law) connected already. He’s a bit more interesting than Luffy IMO. We just aren’t as invested or know much about his crew. As an individual agent he’s one bad mamba jamba. xD

The dark side of the world is in display here. Goes to show how one individual can wield power in nefarious ways. How complacency, compliance simply to let the world move on let’s the gross things continue.

Once One Piece sets sail it really shines in its own sun and catches the wind. This volume’s not perfect, the cliffhanger of Vergo’s fight which ended still in a cliffhanger…wish that had happened sooner. The middle was okay, however no one can deny that the momentum of the current events is like a glacial shift.

I'm kinda mad at myself for always crying so much when I read this series. But gosh, my heart broke with Mocha's sacrifice to save the rest of the children and she's just a side-side character. GOD DAMN ODA. I'm so tired of legit crying when reading, my guy!

Anyways, that last panel slaps: Whitebeard may have ended the last era, but Law turns the gears for the new. I love the worst generation.

Also, great Chopper moments! Our favorite reindeer doctor.

3.5✨

I wondered when we'd be seeing more of Doflamigo 🤔

This arc is a lot better than the previous. This volume was very fast paced and action packed too which tbh I prefer from this series

It disgusts me so bad when I accidentally read the Q&A at the end of each chapter bc Oda is gross. Like an absolutely gross man. He literally in several Q&A’s has talked exclusively about how sexy Nami and Robin are and what size their breasts are now and more shit like that

I still feel just okay about Punk Hazard — I think Caesar is such an interesting as a concept because I love seeing villains that rely on victory through public opinion, but this only makes me wish he was a little more subtle and a little less mustache-twirling.
