Renowned spiritual healer and workshop leader Foster Perry takes an extraordinary journey into the Amazon, where he encounters indigenous tribes, shamans, and ayahuasca rituals. His experiences lead him to confront the roots of his seductive behavior, where he faces and begins to heal his wounded male psyche. Both an expose of the darker side of the New Age seminar circuit and an exploration into the archetypal male.
I found this book fascinating once I got past the introduction, which is incredible "woo woo," as a book about modern-day shamanism and healing. As a new-age healer who travels around the world, including many places in the Amazon and beyond, the author's primary concern is healing from the heart of issues through plant medicine, healing practices, and mediation. He is not a good writer, though, once I got over that fact, I was impressed at his ability to talk simply about difficult issues. Also, I appreciated that he was able to examine his own problems and address these within the context of the book, as opposed to acting like a god-like beacon to people that need help. I wouldn't recommend this book to many people, except as a shift in perspective from other related books.
