Easy simple read with some good twists and turns. I enjoy books from that era this one starts in1860 and is full of information of that generation and hard times. Catherine Cookson fans will love it! The ending I would have wrote differently, but if you read it you might see why .

enjoyed reading about life in early 1900s, and women's lack of choices to survive. The twists and turns made for a good read.
