This three-volume “Minecraft Omnibus” is about self-discovery through Minecraft. Well, the second two volumes are. As I discussed in my review of Volume 1, self-discovery and Minecraft sit side-by-side, with author Sfé Monster never quite connecting the two. This isn’t the case in Volumes 2 and 3, in which one character learns how to stand up to bullies and another character learns how to be assertive. There was something kind of interesting about the disconnect in Volume 1, maybe because “main character [x] learns valuable lesson [y] through activity [z]” is such a familiar formula. Formularity not withstanding, these are fun books with great art. If your children are Minecraft fans, they’ll love it. The anti-hate messaging of the book is also great.
