The Hawaiian Getaway #4

The Holiday Prize

Rate this book
As one of the top real estate agents on Oahu, work has always been a top priority for Tori Swanson. Despite the constant prying from her ever-meddling family members, dating has been on the back burner for a while now. When circumstances leave her boss issuing a company-wide challenge to any agent who can bring a full-price offer on his multi-million-dollar luxury beachside listing before the end of the year, the commission and bonus he's offering has Tori jumping headfirst into the competition. She'll do anything it takes to bring a buyer to the table, especially if it means increasing her odds by teaming up with her friend and fellow agent, Connor Brooks.

While Connor Brooks is wildly successful in his professional life as a real estate agent, his personal life is lacking. Choosing at an early age to focus on being successful, he never put a lot of focus on dating, leaving him uncomfortable and clumsy around women he finds attractive. When his boss offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, he teams up with Tori, who, as his coworker, has always been off-limits dating wise. As they work closely together, his easy friendship with her proves to be enough to push him out of his comfort zone and take risks in both his professional and personal life.

She's confident, driven, and fun to be around.

He's ambitious, a workaholic, and the opposite of a ladies' man.

Can they come together, remain strictly friends, and find a buyer for the listing? Or will the waters get muddy, blurring the lines between coworkers and something more?

⚠️May contain spoilers⚠️

This had many aspects which I liked
-friends to lovers
-slow burn
-teasing banter

This was a fun, easy, quick read romance which happens around the holidays. I felt like the Christmas was subtle even with it set in Hawaii. The conflict in the story was minimal.
I love Tori’s relationship with Elliot but I didn’t feel a lot of depth with her character. The Christmas aspect felt off since I didn’t really get the impression she was lonely.
Connor was the star of the book and felt like I could really get to know him and that his character grew. Also, his grandparents are adorable!
I feel like their relationship grew naturally which was refreshing.
This book is part of a series but can be read alone. I already know a few people I’d recommend this book too.

Thank you so much to Megan, the author, for an advance copy of the book!

The cutest holiday romance. I have never read a real estate agent novel, so this was a super fun read. I loved the office romance and friends to lovers vibe. I loved how genuine and real their friendship and romance felt. I always love a holiday romance but for those who don't the Christmas vibes were very subtle. The perfect read for a slow fluffy romance that feels good and makes you warm and fuzzy.

Thank you NetGalley and Megan for this Arc!!!

4 stars.

🌴 The vibes:
- Christmas
- Friends to lovers
- Slow burn
- Coworkers

🌴 My thoughts:
This one is such a lovely slow burn. I really felt like Connor and Tori were truly just friends at the start of this story. Work friends- normal friends and not “just friends” who have sleepovers and hold hands that I read about in most friends-to-lovers books. I loved how their dynamic felt very real and their progression was very organic.

There’s some Christmas thrown in which is of course a win for me, but the Christmas elements are subtle- so this book can be enjoyable at any time of year if you’re not looking for a Christmas read. Read this one for a sweet love story with little conflict. It’s the perfect read if you’re wanting a chill, relaxing book to cheer you up.

If you are not aware, Megan is one of my favorites! I have been lucky enough to be an ARC reader for her since the beginning of the Hawaiian Getaway series and to see it through until the end with this final book has been such a gift. Now, if you also know me you know that holiday romcoms are my JAM! So I have been begging Meg for this since book two.

Tori & Connor were the best couple for this setting. They are both workaholic real estate agents who are in a competition to sell a massive house ASAP. The workplace rivalry to romance vibes are STRONG. My sweet sweet Connor is probably my favorite book bf from the entire series, he has social anxiety and struggles to date which I found absolutely adorable because once he gets comfortable, he really was such a playful sexy guy. The friendship these two MC’s have was full of trust and chemistry and we love a plot with zero third act break-up OR miscommunication!! THATS RIGHT.

Overall, I highly recommend this book to get you into the holiday spirit and to also consider vacationing in Hawaii as most of us head into the winter months. While this can be read as a standalone, you will love earning all the characters in each of the books in this series and getting to know them. I do have to say, this was my favorite one, but I am partial to anything holiday romcom.

Read if you like:
-Workplace rivalry/romance
-friends to lovers
-banter
-slow burn
-friendly competition
-cutest side characters/little kids
-tropical holiday setting
-Dual POV

Thank you Megan for another arc of your books, and for filling my shelf with your bright covers & book bfs. I am so happy you have completed your first series and I can't wait to see what you do next!! I will always cheer you on and consume anything you write!

A perfect holiday romance set in paradise! This is my first ever ARC so thank you Megan for choosing me! I genuinely loved the two main characters and while so many romance books border on the edge of cheesy this was not one of them. It struck a perfect balance of feel good and not shoving the spicy parts at the reader. I loved this book. I felt like I was spending Christmas in Hawaii with friends and family. If you are a fan of million dollar listing or selling sunset without the harsh parts this is a book for you! Cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

I never thought I’d read a full Christmas novella in September, but I honestly read this cover to cover in under 24 hours!

It was unlike any Christmas story I’ve encountered before: I’ve never read a real estate novel, or a Christmas story set in a sunny location like Oahu. Even given the sun, the beaches and the workplace storyline, this felt like it could be literally taken from a hallmark Christmas movie. The dual POV, friends to lovers, workplace romance was perfect and would honestly be a perfect holiday read. I thoroughly enjoyed the large families of the characters and their cameos, especially Connor’s grandparents, who I will accept no criticism of.

A huge thank you to Megan Reinking and NetGalley for allowing my first ARC to be one I enjoyed so thoroughly!

Such a sweet conclusion to the series!

All the tropical fun you’d expect plus all the cozy Christmas vibes too! It literally made me want wine and tropical sunset… but also Christmas lights and cocoa.

Connor & Tori are wonderful!
-friends to lovers
-workplace romance
-NO third act breakup
-NO miscommunication
-banter & butterflies
-hilarious family members

Thank you Megan for the chance to read an advance copy. Sad to leave this series, but excited to see what’s next!

what to expect:

- real estate agents
- sprinkles of cozy holiday vibes
- closed door romance

The holiday prize was a light and joyful read about two co workers who found themselves falling for each other while teaming up to sell a big listing. I really loved the connections these characters made to each other’s families but also how they embraced each other’s quirks as they spent more time together. It was a great that this story didn’t have the conflict of the story be between the two MCs and just allowed their love story to be a happy and fun one rather than chaotic. Recently stories that I’ve read have been driving the 3rd act break up and get back together troupe to much so it’s refreshing when authors choose to do something different. Overall, this was a really enjoyable story and I would definitely recommend it to someone who is looking for a closed door HEA that’s also a fast paced read!

I laughed out loud multiple times while reading this book! You will not regret reading this book!

Tori & Connor are truly just friends when they find themselves teaming up to sell a huge property. Things I LOVED about this book:
-true friends to lovers
-perfect to read during Christmas time
-our favorite little nephew Elliott
-MMC with relationship anxiety / FMC who handled it so well
-the cutest grandparents ever
-Tori’s sisters, brother Matt, and family dynamics

Tori and Connor’s relationship felt so realistic and true to real life and I loved that.

Thank you NetGalley, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and the author for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a sweet, fun and low steam holiday rom-com that takes place in the beautiful Oahu, Hawaii🌺🌴!! The Holiday Prize is part of "The Hawaiian Getaway" series but can absolutely be read as a standalone like I did. It has your true co-workers/friends to lovers trope and slow burn romance filled with banter, chemistry, tropical and holiday vibes, love, dual POV, closed door romance and wonderful secondary characters. The book is so unique and not your typical rom-com and it will have you smiling, laughing and swooning! I loved this book so much and finished it in one sitting! ❤️❤️This is my first read by Megan Reinking and it will not be my last! The author has done an amazing job with developing characters that are so true and real. IN ADDITION, NO THIRD ACT BREAK-UP OR MISCOMMUNICATION!!!! YAY!!! CRAZY RIGHT?!! 🙃🤭

Tori and Connor are both real estate agents and workaholics! Because of her job she doesn't have time to date despite her meddling family members. Conner decided at an early age to focus solely on his career and as a result his personal life is nonexistent. Having social anxiety, Conner gets uncomfortable and awkward around women he finds attractive. When the big boss offers a once in a lifetime challenge the two of them team up to better their chances of winning the competition. They have been co-workers and friends for a long time and Conner considers Tori off limits and therefore has no problem talking to her. However, will they be able to work closely together and remain strictly friends or will the lines become blurred?

I loved that they were good friends before working together and how naturally their relationship progressed to lovers. The banter and chemistry between them is amazing!! I enjoyed all the dates they went on and all the Christmas activities. Conner's grandparents were just adorable and I loved the advice his grandpa gave him on love. Elliott, Tori's nephew, completely stole my heart and what he does is the most thoughtful and heartwarming thing ever!!🫶🫶

Overall, it is a cute, quick and delightful read that will put you in the holiday mood!! If you love Hawaii and Christmas time then you should read this book! I do recommend and I can't wait to read more books by this author!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"The Holiday Prize" by Megan Reinking is a charming and engaging romantic novel that combines the high-stakes world of real estate with the complexities of personal relationships. In this delightful story, Tori Swanson, a top real estate agent on Oahu, finds herself entangled in a competitive challenge set by her boss, thrusting her into a race against time to secure a full-price offer on a luxurious beachside property.

Reinking skillfully weaves together the professional and personal lives of her protagonists, Tori and Connor Brooks, as they navigate the challenges of the real estate market while grappling with their own romantic uncertainties. Tori's determination to succeed in a male-dominated industry and Connor's internal struggles with relationships create a dynamic and relatable backdrop for the unfolding narrative.

The decision to team up Tori and Connor adds depth to the story, exploring the dynamics of friendship, ambition, and the potential for romance in unexpected places. As they collaborate on the challenging task at hand, the novel artfully delves into their individual strengths and vulnerabilities, creating a nuanced and well-rounded portrayal of the characters.

The contrasting personalities of Tori and Connor add a layer of tension and humor to the narrative. Tori's confidence and drive complement Connor's workaholic nature, creating a compelling dynamic that keeps readers invested in both the professional and personal aspects of their lives. The "strictly friends" premise sets the stage for an engaging slow-burn romance, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the evolution of their relationship.

"The Holiday Prize" is not just a romantic escapade but also a story of personal growth, as Tori and Connor discover new facets of themselves and take risks that extend beyond the realms of real estate. The novel successfully balances lighthearted moments with genuine emotional depth, making it a delightful read for fans of contemporary romance.

Megan Reinking's "The Holiday Prize" is a heartwarming and well-crafted tale that combines the allure of high-stakes real estate with the timeless theme of love, making it a delightful addition to the genre.

Tori is one of the top real estate agents in Oahu and work has been her main priority, despite the constant meddling by her family to settle down. Her boss declares a company-wide challenge to any agent who can bring a full-price offer on his multi-million dollar luxury beachside listing before the end of the year, including a bonus on top of the commission. Tori jumps head first into the competition and decides to team up with her friend and colleague, Connor. As Connor and Tori work closely together, their easy friendship pushes Connor outside of his comfort zone and leads him to take a risk on his personal and professional life.

I absolutely adored the setting of Oahu - a perfect setting with the descriptions of warm weather and beautiful beaches. Despite the title of THE HOLIDAY PRIZE, I wasn’t expecting this to be a Christmas romance. It was so cute and so wonderfully different to the cozy and snowy norm of Christmas/winter holiday romances I usually read. I also don’t think I’ve ever read a story that features a real estate agent as the main character, let alone two, so this was a very unique read for me right off the bat. It was very interesting to see the day to day of a real estate agent as Connor and Tori brainstormed and prepared the luxury beachside listing for their potential clients.

I really enjoyed that THE HOLIDAY PRIZE was told in dual POV, alternating between Connor and Tori. The banter shared between the two was fun and the many scenarios they share are all adorable, some making me smile or laugh a time or two. I loved seeing them develop their friendship into something more. It was awesome to see how they navigated their work time together while maintaining a professional attitude. THE HOLIDAY PRIZE ranks low on the spice scale so a perfect read for those who don’t enjoy an overly spicy read!

I really enjoyed the epilogue and thought it was the perfect way of ending Connor and Tori’s story.

I would like to thank the author, Megan Reinking, of this advanced digital copy for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for an honest review! All opinions expressed are my own.

"The Holiday Prize" masterfully intertwines the magic of Christmas with the exotic allure of the Hawaiian Islands, creating a captivating narrative where Christmas becomes more than a mere backdrop—it emerges as a third main character, adding depth and charm to the storyline. The fusion of these seemingly disparate elements proves that, indeed, Christmas and Hawaii can harmoniously coexist.

The protagonists, both driven and successful in their careers, bring a refreshing dynamic to the narrative. The carefully crafted balance of power between them, as co-workers navigating their professional ambitions, adds a layer of complexity to their relationship. This unconventional setup deviates from typical holiday romance tropes, offering readers a unique and engaging experience.

The ending, unfortunately, feels rushed, as if grappling with the challenge of tying up too many storylines all at once. It is leaving readers yearning for a more nuanced and satisfying wrap-up.

The story's charm lies not only in the character dynamics but also in its inherent cuteness and gentleness. The narrative delicately unfolds, embracing readers with warmth and holiday cheer. The author's ability to create a cozy atmosphere makes this book a perfect companion for the festive season, providing a heartwarming escape, especially when the weather outside is less than inviting.

While it is part of a series, it adeptly functions as a standalone piece. The author skillfully introduces the characters and their world, allowing new readers to immerse themselves in the holiday magic without feeling lost. This seamless integration into a larger series speaks to the author's storytelling prowess, ensuring that both series enthusiasts and newcomers alike can enjoy the narrative independently.

ARC READ:
Thank you to Megan Reinking for the ARC copy of The Holiday Prize, I'm very grateful to have received it and have gotten the chance to review it honestly. That said, this book wasn't for me. I gave it a ⭐️⭐️ rating because personally, I didn't like it.

This book took me a month to get through, and I wanted to DNF it several times. To me, there was no chemistry between the main characters, Tori and Connor, at all, and I wasn’t even convinced they liked each other until 65% through the book when Tori says that there was a sudden twinkle in his eyes. This is a book about real estate, it is not a romance, nor a good contemporary, the only genre that fits well is Christmas. On the grammar side, there were so many run-on sentences I found it hard to stay interested and too many scenes that contributed nothing to the storyline. There is no drama, no spice (fade to black for anything more than kissing), and no actual conversations about anything other than real estate. To me, the plot wasn't great either, and the plot twist wasn't an actual twist.

Most Cringey Quote Award goes to: “But if I have anything to say about it, her family won’t have to worry about her being lonely anymore.” Sorry, but Connor, you haven't even talked to her about your relationship yet, how are you the one to prevent loneliness? It sounds strange.

As I said, this is just my opinion, and I usually read longer romances with more spice, so it just wasn't for me.

Read this book if you like:

An interconnected series that can be read as a standalone

This book is a cute, feel good holiday romance that takes place in Oahu, Hawaii! It will warm you up with thoughts of Christmas time and fun at the beach! It has a little bit of fun for everyone.

Tori and Connor are both real estate agents in Oahu, Hawaii. They are good workplace friends and decide to work together on this competition at work to sell this amazing house they call Makana Manor for a big commission prize. Both Tori and Connor are hard workers, somewhat workaholics, and are lacking in their personal lives when it comes to relationships.

The more time these two spend together the more they learn about one another, the more they slowly fall for each other. I love how focused Connor is on work but when it’s time for Tori, he shifts his focus completely and is in the moment. I could easily picture these two as a real life power couple, working together and supporting one another in successes and in their personal lives.

Pick up this warm, cozy holiday book for a feel good story that won’t leave you happy at the end of the book. It’s the fourth book in this series but can be read as a stand-alone!

First I would like to thank Author Megan Reinking for sending me my very first ARC! I am so happy and honored 🫶🏻🩷

This is the cutest!! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite troupes and I loved Tori and Connor’s relationship as it progressed. It felt so realistic and true and I loved that. Especially with the office romance vibe they had going on. I loved how they were really good friends & co-workers first and then became lovers. I think it made their relationship that much stronger.

As much as I enjoy a spicy book every now and then, I really liked how this was a closed door romance but still kept you interested with Tori and Connor’s romance. I loved their flirting and banter and they were just so cute together!!

Connor’s grandparents were ADORABLEEEE! Especially seeing their relationship together. I loved the advice he gave to his grandson.

My favorite part of the whole book was when Tori found why she was mailed Christmas cards from families she didn’t know. I can’t even begin to tell you how that touched my heart so much! And then the ending….it just made the whole book. So so sweet and touching!

This was my first ever book I’ve read by Megan and I didn’t realize this was part of a series but it also could be read as a stand alone. Needless to say, I am going to get the first 3 books asap!!

Congratulations Megan!! The Holiday Prize comes comes out November 2nd 2023!

The Holiday Prize is the fourth book in the Hawaiian Getaway series. I had personally only read book one in the series and found that this reads just fine as a standalone too.

This was such a wonderfully done slow burn romance! Connor and Tori were friends and had worked together as real estate agents for a while, but when a competition has them working together to get a property sold, the time together has their feelings start to evolve into something more. While I'm always up for a faster paced romance too, I felt like the progression of their relationship felt very true to life and true to these characters too and I absolutely loved watching them as they grew closer together. Such a sweet romance between the two of them.

Just based on the cover and title, I definitely expected this to be a bit more of a holiday romance than I thought it came across. It does take place over Christmas and definitely has some great holiday moments--- like going to the tree farm, receiving Christmas cards in the mail, etc. But it definitely didn't feel like the holiday content was overpowering either--- perhaps because of its tropical setting. As such, while it'd be a great holiday read, I could see it being enjoyed all year long too.

The Holiday Prize is a closed-door romance. While there is intimacy implied, there is nothing beyond kisses on the pages. There was some minor language as well.

**I received an ARC for consideration. All opinions are my own.

This was such a fun read. I enjoyed every part of this romcom. Friends to lovers is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. I have read all the books in this series and I love them all. I do recommend reading from the first book as all the characters tie into one another, but that of course doesn't mean you cannot read as a standalone.

Megan Reinking does such a good job with character development and touching on sensitive, but relatable issues we all face. I mean who hasn't put effort into their career leaving them feeling guilty of ignoring the important things around them?

The Holiday Prize surrounds Tori, a real estate agent in Oahu and Connor who is Tori's best work friend, also a real estate agent in Oahu. Both main characters are focused and driven to be the best real estate agent in the area. Leveling up in real estate will not only be good for their pockets, but will justify all they have given up personally in order to put 100% into their jobs. Sometimes when you focus too hard on the wrong thing, you miss out on something that has been waiting for you this entire time... maybe even someone you didn't know you really needed. Did I mention this is centered around Christmas time? What a perfect book to start your holiday reading with.

I enjoyed watching the relationship bloom between these two. sweet, to the point, and swoon worthy! Highly recommend this series and this book.

I feel so honored to have had the chance to read this book as a Beta Reader for Megan. I have read all of the books in this series and I have to say that I think this might be my favorite so far. Especially Connor, there is just something about a big softie MMC that is so endearing. I loved him so much from the get go! This friends to lovers, workplace romance, is so sweet and fun, a perfect feelgood read to give you all the feels without any of the negative angst (no miscommunication trope, no third act break up... insert praise hands here)! This book felt like a hug and it also felt like real life, like a story you could see in the life of your friends.

I think that is one of my favorite things about Megan's writing, the books deal with real life and feel realistic, they aren't crazy far fetched... I love it! Another thing I love about Megan's books in this series? Her ability to write closed door romance but still give you all the chemistry and steamy kisses giving you just enough while still keeping it clean for those that aren't looking for sex on the page. I love open door romance, but I also love a good fade to black, closed door romance and Megan is one of my favorite's when it comes to writing closed door!

You're going to want to grab this book up! It's the last in the Hawaiian getaway series but you could 100% read it as a stand alone.

The Holiday Prize was my favorite story in The Hawaiian Getaway series by Megan Reinking!

Megan continues to write such sweet and wholesome stories! There isn’t a ton of conflict and the characters are very tender. I have loved watching Megan find her author’s voice through each story she has written.

Tori & Connor are a friends to lovers and workplace romance couple. They work at the same real estate agency and they team up to sell a prize property for a friendly agency competition.

Connor’s grandparents, Lou & Betty, were SO sweet. When Connor had his sentimental conversation with his grandpa about love - it was so wholesome! I love how they adore and accept Tori so quickly!

Tori’s family was great! Her relationship with her nephew, Elliot, is auntie goals!! Elliot clearly loves his auntie too. They had such a sweet connection! And Matt’s brotherly conversation with Connor about dating his sister had me chuckling!!

I loved getting to know this group throughout these four books! I look forward to what Megan continues to write next!!

Thank you Megan Reinking for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a decent holiday read! Three stars for me because it wasn't amazing but it wasn't terrible either, just a middle-of-the-road type book. It took a while for Tori and Connor to fall for each other, and when they did, there wasn't a ton going on. I really enjoyed the plot of selling Makana Mannor, it was cute and helped push the characters together for the romance. However, I feel like more could've happened around the characters to pull me in and make me feel emotionally connected. The highlight of the book for me was the Christmas cards from around the world and how the couple continued the tradition long after the first year. Though it was a small part, it connected me in a way that the rest of the book did not. This book was simply alright and I don't think I'll read the others in the series. However, I wish the author the best and hope that the right readers find her books and enjoy them!

Tropes
-friends to lovers
-closed door
-tropical vibes
-workplace romance

I got this book as an arc from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Megan, and congratulations on this release!

The Holiday Prize by Megan Reinking is a delightful and heartwarming novel that explores themes of love, friendship, and professional ambition. The novel follows the story of two successful real estate agents, Tori Swanson and Connor Brooks, who team up to win a company-wide challenge to bring a full-price offer on a luxury beachside property. As they work together, they find themselves drawn to each other, but their professional ambitions and personal insecurities threaten to get in the way.

The novel is expertly crafted, with well-developed characters and a fast-paced plot that keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end. This was such a fun, heartwarming holiday read! This is the fourth book in Megan’s Hawaiian Getaway series and can be read as a standalone.

This book follows Tori and Connor, coworkers at a real estate agency who are both dedicated to their work and would consider themselves to be workaholics.

When their boss gets the office in on a competition to sell his highest price house, the two of them pair up and use their strengths and resources to try and sell the house.

But the one thing they never expected was to turn from friends to lovers.

I absolutely loved this book - so much so I read it in one day LOL. This was a closed door romance and was so sweet. I loved how Tori helped Connor let loose and relax. I loved that the two of them continued to prioritize work but also made their relationship a priority.

This was the perfect book to get you into the holiday spirit. Thank you to Megan for the ARC!!

This was one of the best work friends to lovers books I have read! This books is part of a series however, it can also be read as a standalone book. I did not read the others in the series before picking this up but reading this book made me want to go back and start the rest of the series!

I love how Connor and Tori’s relationship seemed like a real life slow burn progression and while writing it Megan did a great job at not rushing their story. You truly felt like you were watching their relationship blossom in real time. I love how the theme at the start of the story continued into the epilogue as well it created a very full circle moment for a lot of characters in the book.

If you are looking for a great christmas themed read this holiday season I highly recommend this book! This book is available now!

I would also like to thank NetGalley and Megan for providing me with an ARC! This was a great read!
