Wounded Women of the Bible: Finding Hope When Life Hurts

Rate this book
Imploding relationships, incapacitating losses, injurious personal mistakes, or spiritual failures—whatever the issue, the wounds are the same. Whether it’s a lapse in judgment by Bathsheba or the moral failure of the women’s ministry leader in your local church; the spiritual insensitivity of Martha or the compulsive obsessions of your church’s care circle chairwoman; the terror of an abandoned single mother like Hagar or the struggling single mother in your prayer group—the time and circumstances are different, but the wounds are equally deep and spiritually devastating. Dena Dyer and Tina Samples get it. They have their own stories of pain before healing—along with similar experiences of their families and friends. Offering more than pat affirmations or vicarious shoulders to cry on, Dena and Tina delve deep into the shared emotions and injuries that women of all ages have in common—and move readers toward the recovery and healing that only God can provide. No matter what hurts you’ve experienced, Wounded Women of the Bible proves that God understands and that healing is not only His intention but His delight! This is a book not to be missed!

As a busy wife and mom, Dena Dyer constantly loses things—but she’s holding onto her sanity (barely). Her favorite forms of therapy? Talking and laughing with her sons, date nights with her hubby, reading, cooking, and watching movies. Dena is thankful for her creative life, which is varied and full. That doesn’t mean it’s easy, though.

“Jesus truly is my strength when I am weak,” she says. “His love, mercy, and grace have been incredibly instrumental in my life. That’s why I’m so passionate about sharing Him with other people, however He allows me to.”

Dena’s publishing credits include Love at First Fight: 52 Story-Based Meditations for Married Life (written with her husband), the multi-award-winning Kregel release, Wounded Women of the Bible, and 9 other books, including: Let the Crows’ Feet and Laugh Lines Come!, Mothers of the Bible, two volumes in the Groovy Chicks’ Road Trip series, two Christmas books, and Grace for the Race: Meditations for Busy Moms.

Her articles have appeared in Writer’s Digest, The Writer, Woman’s World, HomeLife and many other magazines, and her tips have been published in Working Mother, Thriving Family, Redbook, Family Circle, Parenting, Nick Jr. and Scholastic Parent. For six years, she served as a contributing editor with The High Calling (www.highcalling.org). Her day job is as Executive Assistant to Jamie Aten, Founder and Co-Director of Wheaton's Humanitarian Disaster Institute.

In life we are all wounded in some way. Often our healing comes when we hear the stories of others that have been through trials like our own. In Wounded Women of the Bible, the authors write with transparency about their own struggles and share examples of trials from friends, as well as presenting in fresh ways the struggles of women in Scripture. A good choice for a women’s Bible study or book club.

I thought this would be "just another women's Bible study book," but I feel compelled to write a review to encourage others to read it. Not only do I better know and understand some of the women in the Bible, but by sharing "wounds" they and others have experienced the authors hold up the wounded women of the Bible as mirrors for us today. Dena Dyer and Tina Samples have mined the depths of suffering in all its facets--grief, betrayal, abuse, heartache--in order that the reader, by recognizing and accepting her pain, can discover healing and hope the way Biblical women did--through our loving Heavenly Father.

This book has a pretty cover. It's layout is lovely. The type is easy to read. The topic is unique and drawing. But the true beauty of this book isn't the way it looks or even what it's about. What makes this book one of a kind? The dirty, gritty, bare truth found within it's pages. The testimonies of pain, and perseverance. Of struggle and of serenity. Of desperation and definition. By telling the stories of women in the Bible and in their own lives, Dena Dyer and Tina Samples give hope to the hurting. By recounting how they overcame difficulty, they inspire others to draw close to God.

Have you ever experienced a hurt that ran so deep, you didn’t feel that anything could ever stop the pain? Have you ever found yourself in a desperate situation with no way out?

If so, you’re not alone.

In Wounded Women Of The Bible – Finding Hope When Life Hurts, Dena Dyer and Tina Samples have gathered the stories of a number of wounded women in the Bible who are dealing with issues that are surprisingly similar to ours – and used their stories as navigational tools to help us through the dark passages in our lives.

Quite frankly, this book is amazing!

In Wounded Women Of The Bible, the authors re-tell the stories of more than a dozen biblical women who have suffered from every type of hurt possible – and they bring those women’s stories to life in a way that contemporary women can understand. They approach each woman’s story with honesty, transparency, and sensitivity. When necessary, the authors share their own stories as well.

At the end of the book is a wonderful Study Guide to help you fully explore each wounded woman’s story.

No matter where the stories begin, however, the authors are always waiting to lead us to a safe place – back to The Great Physician who can heal us – back to the loving God who sees us and is with us even in our darkest moments.

The authors write:

For each of us, there will be a moment God speaks – through his word or through someone else. He will send us help and hope. He will give us a choice to either move forward or stay sunken in our great despair…

There are wounds we will face due to our circumstances. It may feel as if our circumstances will be the death of us, but they will not. We will feel like the widow of Zarephath – despairing and defeated. But hope is waiting. God is waiting.

Wounded Women Of The Bible is one of the most relevant and deeply personal Bible studies I've read in a long time! This book is must have for every woman’s bookshelf – and is one that I plan to keep on hand for quite some time to come!

This is a book not to be missed!

This is a wonderful book for women who are hurting in areas of their life. Basing issues on similarities of circumstances from the women in the Bible, Ms. Dyer and Ms. Samples have given hurting women a way of looking to God through women who have hurt in similar ways long before we were born.
This book would make a great Bible Study, or a wonderful book to read for those in counseling hurt people. I enjoyed reading through the book, it is an easy and fast read.

Wounded Women of the Bible: Finding Hope when Life Hurts is written by Dena Dyer and Tina Samples in order that women “would find His peace for your pain, His joy in the midst of your trials, and His hope for your heartfelt.” That small quote, featured in the back of the book contains a lot of heart and a lot of grace that is transparent throughout the book that features biblical characters from Eve to Jezebel in order to encourage and equip women as they face many trials of many kinds. The two authors are very much aware of the plethora of trials that women go through in their everyday lives, from the miniscule to the major concerns such as friendships, marriages and the scars from our pasts. They are graceful and kind in their discussion of the topics, and refer to a lot of relational experiences and use biblical passages in a delicate and loving way. They are very honest as they relate personal struggles that they have undergone and also share stories of other friends who have gone through similar circumstances.

I enjoyed the book very much, and despite some of the heavy content that it has, have found encouragement that God makes things beautiful in His time and that He uses everything for His glory and purpose. It is such a hopeful thing to know that things in this fallen world, even our scars, are used by our God to help shape us and bring us closer to Him whilst bringing Him all the glory. It is a great book as it employs a biblical perspective and also uses a very loving tone as it communicates biblical truths to all women in different walks of life.

I received a free copy of this book from Kregel Publications , in exchange for a review. I was not asked to write a positive review in exchange for a copy, but choose to write a review that is constructive, honest and helpful to other consumers.

This is a book every woman should read. Have you been wounded? Maybe you have wounded someone else. Every women young, old, or in between can benefit from this book in one way or another.

Maybe you have already dealt with your wounds. I think this book is also a great resource to use to help others. I certainly wish I could get my hands on a crate of these books to pass out to women I know who could use it.

There were so many quotes in this book I loved, and wanted to share.
One of them was this:
"Love - whether reciprocated or not is never wasted because God is love!"
How amazing is that.
"No matter how you're treated, someone else negativity has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them."

Tina and Dena both share some deeply moving stories of incidents that occurred in their lives. They also use many women from the Bible as examples . They cover categories ranging from depression, infertility, abuse, grief, and betrayal to gratitude, blessedness, adoration and hope for shattered hearts. They share a multitude of scripture and women's stories to give much food for thought. Some of the women mentioned may be women you have heard of, others may be someone new - Abigail, Jochabed, Hagar, Dinah, Jephthah's Daughter to name a few. They offer healing and hope to women who have suffered. That woman may be you, or may be someone you know.

I highly recommend this book! It is such an encouragement to women. There is even a study guide at the end.

I received this book from The Book Club Network and authors in exchange for my honest opinion.

As I have stated before, I am very hard on non-fiction books since I enjoy fiction so much. So I never know what to expect when I open up a non-fiction book.

Well, I can say this is a book I highly recommend. I don't think there's a women out there that won't relate to one, of not many, of the women from the Bible featured in this book.

Tina and Dena's raw honesty is so refreshing. This is truly a Genesis 5020 book to its core.

Chapter after chapter is about how God used the brokenness of a woman and then turned it around for His glory.

I lead a group called Wounded and I think this book would be a fabulous follow-up for my ladies and I plan on recommending it to every group I facilitate.

It truly covers almost every wound we could possibly experience and it gives the reader hope, if you are in a place of hurt. God can heal.

There are discussion questions at the end, so you can do this in a group setting. And again, I was impressed with the questions. I find, often times, discussion questions can be a bit cheesy, but I didn't find that at all in this book. They are very thought-provoking and will spur on the topics covered.

If you are hurting now, or know someone who is I suggest grabbing a copy of this book and reading it.

A copy of this book was given to me by Kregel Publications in exchange for an honest review.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! Reading this book is like having a conversation with two of your friends. The book is very simple to read and it flows quickly. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. I cried and laughed more than once while reading the book and to me that means it's a great book.

Some time ago, I had a friend, well someone I thought was my friend, and it turned out they were not. They choose to let our friendship go so they could fit in with another group. I was hurt, bitter, and didn't understand. But reading this book helped me to look at things in a different light. I am no longer bitter towards them at all.

In this book, you will also learn more in-depth about wounded women of the Bible and how they were able to overcome what life had in store for them.

There are questions at the end of the book that will be great for a small study group.

I plan to keep this book on my shelf as a go to book. This would also make a great gift for someone that you know is struggling with different issues in their lives.

There are very few books I give a 5 ***** rating to but this is one of those! Simply wonderful!

Thank you to Kregel Publications for the complimentary copy for my review and thank you to Dena and Tina for writing such a well written, easy to read book!

ABOUT THE BOOK WOUNDED WOMEN OF THE BIBLE: FINDING HOPE WHEN LIFE HURTS: This book is a touching reminder that there is nothing new under the sun. Things that wounded women centuries ago are still hurting women today. This book delves into the lives of more than a dozen Biblical women from Ruth to the widow of Zarephath. Each story exposes the raw emotions of each of these women.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:

DENA DYER - is a wife, mom, author, speaker and musician who loves encouraging audiences and readers (especially fellow moms) to lean hard into Jesus...and not take themselves too seriously. Writing is a calling and a passion, and she has written hundreds of articles for magazines, newspapers, anthologies, blogs, and websites. Dyer currently serves as a Contributing Editor for The High Calling and feels blessed to be part of such a stellar organization. Her first book, Grace for the Race: Meditations for Busy Moms, has just been re-released as an e-book and is available on Amazon. Her sixth book, Wounded Women of the Bible (Kregel), was released July 1st. In her spare time, Dyer loves to cook, decorate, read, and spend time with my family and friends. When time permits, she enjoys leading worship for women's groups, mentoring other aspiring authors, and teaching.

TINA SAMPLES - is a Colorado-based writer, speaker, and worship leader. She keeps busy serving alongside her husband, Dave, who is the lead pastor at Grace River Church in Windsor, Colorado (www.chasingrace.org). As a Texas gal, Tina loves going “home” for the opportunity to hang with her family, the Kinsey clan. She spends quite a bit of time at baseball games watching her oh-so-grown up son, Zach, play ball. (She dreads the day he will leave for college.) Tina’s oldest son, Jaren, is married to Navy gal Jillian, and together they live in California. Both of her sons are incredibly gifted musicians, and Tina is proud to have led worship with them. Tina also loves photography, music, and teaching. Tina says, “The Lord is an amazing God of blessings. I feel so privileged when I get to speak or lead worship at women’s retreats, conferences, or other events. More than anything, I love ministering to other women.”

MY THOUGHTS ON THE BOOK: Authors Dena Dyer and Tina Samples do a wonderful job giving narratives of biblical accounts of such hurts and in the process weave in their own stories. The authors share their own personal wounding stories and then offer ways to heal. They are compassionate, honest, and empathetic as they deal with their difficult subject matter. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" is the constant theme threaded throughout the book. I love the fact that there was a study guide in the back of the book, with thought-provoking questions and activities for a group to complete. This book would be a great resource for a Bible study, or a help for anyone searching for hope and healing. This book is refreshing and you will find yourself returning to it again and again.

I read Wounded Women of the Bible: Finding Hope When Life Hurts, in exchange for honest review from Kregel Blog Tours. I received a paperback book. The book was written by Dena Dyer and Tina Samples.

My Review:

I chose the book because it had a woman-focus. The book consisted of 13 chapter, discussing different women in the bible. Some of The women included: Abigail, Dinah, Ruth, Hagar, Jochebed, Mary and Martha. Each of the women went through a particular problem, which damaged and wounded them. For example, the first chapter discussed the two women in Solomon's court. The women were prostitutes and they both had babies around the same time. One woman accidently killed her baby, while she was sleep. She rolled on top of her. She panicked and went and stole the other woman baby. She tried to pass the other woman's baby off as her own. The living child's mother took her to court. Solomon said cut the baby in half and give a half to each woman. The true mother said no, let my baby live and give it to the other woman. The true mother got her baby back. The story discusses pain, heartbreak, death, life, and friendship. The story also showed compassion and love. The true mother did not want her baby to die. She was willing to hand her baby over to the other woman, so her baby will life. The two woman was best or close friends before the ordeal, but grief, panic, and lying, changed their dynamics forever.

Each chapter gives discusses a biblical woman, in addition to providing a relatable story by each of the authors. Each chapter also has discussion questions. The discussion questions are at the end of the book. Great for small group discussion.

This book is a great tool or resource for women who are counseling other women that have hurts and struggles from their past that they need healing from. The book touches on the stories of Abigail (1 Sam 25), Dinah (Gen 34), Ruth (The Book of Ruth), Hagar (Gen 16), Jochebed (Ex 2), Mary & Martha (Luke 10, John 11), and even Jezebel (1 Kings 16) (have you ever considered her hurts?), Gomer (Hosea 1) and so many others from the Bible....

Each of the women chosen as an example mirror issues that are still alive in the world today. Tina & Dena share the stories of these women and then highlight powerful passages in scripture that can point us to to healing. Their writing is comforting and the stories of their own lives (and their own healing) is encouraging and supportive to those that need that hand reaching out to them.

This book is ideal for small groups, women being counseled by other women and even for those that perhaps aren't ready to reach out to another women. It would make a wonderful gift for someone you think is ready to receive it or perhaps you can leave it somewhere it will catch that friends eye.

Note: there is a wonderful Bible Study Guide in the back of the book. It's perfect for small group and bible studies too! There is a section of journal questions as well as a Hope for Healing Box with a few tips from the authors -

Disclaimer: I was offered a copy of the book to read in exchange for my honest review on GivingNSharing. I was not required to have a positive review and no $$$ exchanged hands. Thanks for reading!

Wounded Women of the Bible: Finding Hope When Life Hurts

Authors Dena Dyer and Tina Samples introduce us to twelve women of the Bible who suffered many of the heartaches and trials that women of today suffer daily. Some of the stories are familiar and feature well-known Bible characters. Lesser known women are also mentioned but they all have one thing in common--they are all wounded women.

This book includes twelve chapters and each one is devoted to a Biblical woman who has suffered a particular problem or tragedy. Both of the authors share their own experiences that relate to that particular subject and they also include the stories of many others who have gone through the same ordeal. These chapters show the reader that these wounded women of the Bible experienced many of the same problems that plague women of today. Relevant topics covered include rape, abuse, childlessness, loneliness, betrayal, illness and loss.
I greatly appreciate the discussion questions at the end of the book that relate to each chapter and I applaud the inclusion of many, many scriptures to help increase my understanding.

I would recommend Wounded Women of the Bible to anyone who is struggling with acceptance of a serious issue and in need of a way to cope. I think this book would be a great addition to a church library and could become a wonderful took for a layperson like myself who wants to help someone who is hurting but is uncertain how best to accomplish that goal!

Wounded Women of the Bible: Finding Hope When Life Hurts by Dena Dyer and Tina Samples is a pretty extraordinary book! Ms. Dyer and Ms. Samples take on some pretty challenging stuff that most of us would rather avoid.

The authors share their own deep sorrows along with other stories from women of today and women in the Bible. They explore the hurts and damage of betrayed friendships, adultery, abuse, and many more hurts that so many of us have experienced through out our lives.

Open, honest discussions of the the challenges and hurts we may have faced as well as how God can and does help us heal, draw closer to God and how we can support and help each other through challenging and hurtful times.

The book is divided into short chapters full of experiences based on biblical women as well as women from today facing the same challenges though maybe through different circumstances. At the back of the book there are questions and study guides for individual review or group discussions.

Wounded Women of the Bible is not a light weight book! It is heady stuff and the information shared is enlightening, educational, practical and rather though provoking.

I can't wait to re-experience this book with a group of close friends and see where it takes us!

Many thanks to Kregel Publications for the opportunity to review this book. My thoughts and feelings are an honest reflection of how I felt about this book.

All of us have been wounded at some point in our lives. Sometimes we survive those wounds and find a way to be better for those woundings; other times we fail to rise up and stay in a broken place. This book has a message for all women. The authors have taken the stories of twelve women from scripture. Each of them had a different wound or hurt. Some overcame their hurts to the glory of God, others did not. The authors add their own perspectives from their personal life experiences. They then share testimonies from other women who have gone through similar experiences. Their goal is to help the reader see, “ God takes our wounds, the pieces of our life, and He puts the picture together. We see pieces of a puzzle, but God sees the big picture….Sometimes our wounds leave holes in our life’s puzzle, but God comes in and fills the holes with a picture of Himself. God replaces the missing pieces with love, restoration, hope.”
Wounded Women of the Bible is not a book to be read through quickly. It is a book to be read one chapter at a time and contemplated. There is a study guide at the back of the book to either facilitate a group discussion or an individual study. There are thoughtful questions and applications as well as further scripture readings.
I received this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Reading this book clearly shows that women have always experienced hurt in some way. Authors Dena Dyer and Tina Samples’ Wounded Women of the Bible gives ladies an inside look at more than a dozen women throughout Bible time and the hurts and difficulties they faced. We read the stories of Dinah, Ruth, Hagar, Ichabod’s Mother, Mary and Martha, and others, getting to know they ladies in a really interesting and unique way.

Finding Hope When Life Hurts is truly what we learned from this book through the lives of each of these ladies. Dena Dyer and Tina Samples leave nothing out as they study and explore what the Bible says. I also appreciate the authors opening their own lives and showing the hurts and struggles they have faced in their lives. To me, this makes the book even more special because we are not only getting truths from the Bible, we are getting truths from real people’s lives.

I received this book from the publisher Kregel to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

I want to start this off by saying, Wounded Women of the Bible would make an excellent Bible study course. I got reading it and just couldn't stop. And I know many people in my life who would be greatly helped by reading this book. Whether in a group setting or alone. This is for those women who are hurting, fearful, wounded, in pain, or anyone who knows somebody in that situation. And lets face it, we all know a woman who could be encouraged by reading this.

The whole concept of the book is going back to Scripture and showing people who have been through these situations before. We are talking every story under the sun and it is all woven into a picture of people today. I have to admit, I cried through a lot of it. Sure, I may not be going through something like these women have, but it really touches you and we can all relate to it in one way or another. Again, an excellent book that I would urge to be done as a study group. This is so real and something we need in our lives today!! Loved this one!!

I received a copy of this book for my review purposes. All thoughts are 100% mine.

I received the extraordinary, heart-wrenching, prayerful, hopeful, joyful, wonderfully written, inspirational book, Wounded Women of the Bible: Finding Hope When Life Hurts by Dena Dyer & Tina Samples free through Goodreads First Reads.
Each chapter in the book is filled with wounded women in the Bible and stories that the authors share of themselves and others in similar circumstances going through hard times and having hope in God through it all. I found myself captivated by the women in the Bible and spending quality time looking up the chapter and verses in my Bible and reading and rereading the stories.
In the second chapter, I loved reading the story of Abigail, her husband Nabal's surly disposition, bringing supplies to David, and ending up being married to David. Chapter 11 was the heart breaking story of Jephthah's daughter, his vow to the Lord, and his daughter accepting the vow her father made to the Lord.
Read the outstanding, wonderful, inspirational book Wounded Women of the Bible: Finding Hope When Life Hurts by Dena Dyer and Tina Samples.

Wounded Women of the Bible is such a great book and bible study! I’ve recommended it to all of my friends and family. I absolutely love the style of writing and the way the authors, Dena Dyer and Tina Samples, relate each woman to real life, everyday struggles. The book can be read without doing the study but it is so much better with the study.

With twelve women from the Bible, Ms. Dyer and Ms. Samples tackle tough issues like rejection, betrayal and desertion. By telling their own personal stories or the stories of other women, they relate these women from the bible stories and correlate them to contemporary issues. Wherever your heart has been wounded most, that particular story will resonate best.

I found Wounded Women of the Bible to be so much more than storytelling. I found it to be a wonderful place to begin healing those wounds that run far too deep.

I received this book from the Book Club Network and Kregel Publications in exchange for my honest opinion which I’ve provided here.

“Times and circumstances are different – but the wounds are equally deep and spiritually devastating.” Not your average “sympathy pat on the back” type help book – this deeply moving and soul-searching book opens your eyes and heart to what it has always needed. Using so many examples in scripture of wounded women to show us God is here and He understands, they help you discover and understand what is in you and what you are yearning for. This is a very unique approach to healing. The depth and range of the information in each chapter, which brings up a different woman of the Bible, speaks to your heart. Examples of women and their wounds now days are sprinkled in each chapter, also. These authors have done their research and packaged it in perfect chapters and wording to appeal to anyone. At the end is a study guide to help you through the book or to use it as a Bible study in your home or church. I highly recommend this for every woman in the world.

Each story of one of the wounded women of the Bible is told by each author's point of view, with their personal stories and stories of other women who have been wounded and healed. It was full of some great insights and highlighted several women that I had never studied before. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I did disagree with some of the interpretations of Scripture. They had a tendency to romanticize several of the stories of the women where the Bible doesn't really dwell on how the women, forced into marriages or situations that weren't working out, really felt about the situation. I am, did Ruth really love Boaz or was she just doing what her mother-in-law told her to do so that they would survive. Of course questions like these take me deeper into the Bible, so that's not always a bad thing. Never rely on what others are telling you about the Bible...read and study it for yourself.

In "Wounded Women of The Bible" Dena Dryer & Tina Samples don't mess around, bring women of the Bible to life in a real way. Some of the stories are well known, but others maybe ones that your less familiar with or at least I was. They take these amazing women from the Bible and tie them to their own suffering, deep wounds, pain, hurt and only healing The Lord can bring. This book brings hope, compassion, healing and practical tips on dealing with emotional scars, plus a good cry. I found this book to be highly relatable to my life and often I think my thoughts, emotions, scars and pain is only my own, but I'm realizing others experience very similar stories. My life isn't so far away from the women of the Bible, which is very comforting. This book would be excellent for a Bible study or done as a group study. It also includes a discussion questions and a study guide. I highly recommend this book for all women, especially those who are going through difficult situations.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Wounded Women of the Bible. Wow - what a great book and every single chapter speaks to the heart and soul of a woman - dealing with issues we either have dealt with ourselves or have a friend/relative who can relate and it will better give us an understanding of how to help them. What a wonderful book - I am slowly savoring the chapters, taking the time to “chew” on the meat of each chapter before proceeding to the next. This book is a great supplement to daily devotions/Bible reading, great for a Bible study, or even wonderful for two friends/relatives to study and discuss together. I see so many ways this book could be used and would benefit in each instance.

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review from Book Club Network and the author. I have posted my review on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, and Deeper Shopping

I won this book as a FirstRead.

Wounded Women of the Bible: Finding Hope When Life Hurts does a good job of discussing many hurtful issues facing women today. The authors discuss their own experiences with each issue, focus on a woman in the Bible who dealt with each issue, and share stories from other women who have been through the issues. Each chapter provides messages from the Bible about turning to God to help overcome the issue. At the end of the book, there is a study guide for each chapter.

I thought the authors did an excellent job of making parts of each chapter useful for every woman, even if the chapter discusses an issue you personally have not been through. Any woman could benefit from reading this book.

I absolutely loved this book!!! I really enjoyed the perspective on the women that were chosen for this book. They didn't pick obvious heroines from the Bible but they really chose women that you could relate to.
This was a Bible study that you can do alone or with a group - I definitely benefited from this book and will recommend to my book club and any woman of any age or phase of life. I so appreciated the experiences and testimonies that were shared in this book.
This has hit my favorite list!!

I was given this book for my honest review from The Book Club Network.

I really enjoyed this book, the authors take everyday situations, showing how we as women are wounded and show us in the bible a woman who has also gone through it, and how she overcame the wound. This would be a great book for a bible study.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher through TBCN/BookFun in exchange for my honest review.

This was a well written book that compares the women of the bible with what women are going through today. I really felt it had some good comparisons. I received a copy of this book from book fun.org for a fair and honest opinion.
