This reads more like a short one-shot than a full story but a beautiful one at it. You can see the depth and the thoughts the artist had put into the story. As a one-shot, it does not delve deep into the story and we are given only snippets of what happened to them and how they come to that place. I wish we had more of the story such as the story behind the ring and why Myeong gave it to Seonho, was it all just a cover for him or does he actually have a girlfriend as he told his friends?
There are many questions left unsaid but that is what makes the story intriguing too. For a short read in between my work, this was the perfect choice.

Hyperventilation is a very short manhwa about two guys who reconnect at a high school reunion. We get flashbacks to their high school years where, while they were not friends, they impacted each other but for one reason or another both kept their feelings internal. Present day, those feelings have not died down, only this time as adults do they let themselves express those desires.
A lot of this is vibes. We're thrown straight into it with no lead up or anything besides Seonho and Myeong getting together. The artwork is character focused, with backgrounds not as detailed. I liked it and it gave the book an ethereal feel.
Without giving spoilers, a ring plays a role but by the end it's never explained. It made me deduct a star from the rating as it left me actually irritated.
The weird thing is, there is an anime of this. I don't know if the manhwa or the anime came first, but the anime explains the ring. And it's such a simple explanation that answers the question.
After I read the book, I watched the anime when I found out it existed. It's short, at ~20 mins, but adds more context and does a better job than the manhwa. Although the manhwa does have some dialogue that I really liked, that's not in the anime

This beautiful, little manga surprised me.
Hyperventilation feels like a snippet of a tale. And maybe it is. There’s a before and an after, but this, right here is one night, one step in the journey. Myeong and Seonho’s journey.
Readers meet these men at a high school reunion. Both are 9 years out of school, but our story flashes back and forth between the present and the past. The timeline jumps back and forth beautifully. The way the story connects and overlaps simultaneously creates and causes sweet chemistry and sexy tension. It will dazzle your heart. And eyes!
The images, colors, and light! They tell the story. The light glows, glares, shines, and dances in circles on the page. All while capturing the mood and emotion of these two men and the space around them.
Hyperventilation tells a tale of sweetness and realization and longing. I loved every *gasp*, thump, and THUD.

I knew it that it would fail miserably the moment I saw the contents. First of all, too short. The angst isn't really that powerful, and it's truthfully unsuccessful in giving the emotional impact it's trying to build up with a flashback that isn't that appetizing anymore. Ehem! Clichè! Aren't there any other way to tell a story?
The art style is divine though, but I guess it's the only thing that's praisable in this manhwa. This story could have been more elaborated, you know? But the author dropped the bomb on the wrong ground—it's all for naught.
And what is that liquid that he licked off his hand? Was that a puke, or a cough, or something? Found that weird, lol.

I love the art so much, short and sweet! I love this trope, second chance romance with steamy scenes and achingly sweet kisses. This manhwa also has an OVA which I bought for $0.99 on Vimeo. It has 6 episodes + 1 special episode not on the manhwa. So that’s a treat! There’s also a novel currently being translated to English so I’ll just wait for it to finish before reading. I want a look inside what Myeong and Sunho are both thinking.
Bboung Bbang Kkyu, the author also wrote Mignon another BL anime which is also on Vimeo (12 episodes, —— with episode 12 being my favorite because 🔥🔥👀🔞). The first 3 episodes are free and the rest for $0.99, I know I clicked buy so fast! I love it!

This was quite the famous BL eh? I'd seen it around. Finally read it. I easily read it at once as it's got 6 ch in manhwa form, at night. I've read mangas that told in-depth stories in less than 6 ch but I guess it's too short for manhwas?
It felt too short, while we did get flashbacks, there wasn't enough info/talks happening or even explanation, but we got smut (of course) lol. It was like vibes & potential, 2 men who had crushes on eachother in school are reunited in reunion, hook up... & Like huh? Ring something & hug & are seemingly together now.
Atleast there's flashbacks which show how the infatuation started but we didn't get *much* in present time. I read in other's comments that it's a novel? So I guess manhwa didn't go deeper into it. I checked out the animation 2-3 weeks later, I liked it better. It explained ring, solidified their relationship, easier to understand too.
The art is very anime-like, some panels gorgeous, some uncanny. People called it beautiful, but I've seen way more gorgeous art these days to be blown away easily.
Well, seeing this everywhere, I think I may have had too big of expectations, hm. I like short stories, hence why I read it, but atleast some communication would have been good.
That random spit lick was kinky 😂. Also, Lee's classmates are such assholes to have made fun of him for having a freaking hole in his lungs!!!

It has a simple storyline but the fact that it just pulls you in is just wow. It’s so powerful and draws you in despite being such a short manga. It’s so pure and so beautiful.

I’m only rating this 5 stars because the animation is so much better. This just seems like a storyboard book instead so a lot of the nuances have been lost in translation especially the ending. It’s not shown in the book that the ring was a cover and bro isn’t married, it’s just a repellent from anyone coming onto him.
God the animation is reeeally sweet and hot and I watched it yeeeeears ago!! The art style is so clean and beautiful and lots of thought went into colour atmosphere combos

Short but sexy Yaoi manga that was adopted to a beautiful short anime of 6 episodes and 1 bonus episode. I’m kinda obsessed with this one. The artwork and voice overs are aesthetically pleasing and near perfection. There is a Novel recently released under the same name that I want to get my hands on but would not be able to read cos it’s only available in Korean as the author is not keen on selling internationally due to illegal distributions & copyright issues she had to face when the Anime first came out back in 2018 I think. Waiting for the DVD that I ordered to arrive.
It’s one of those anime’s that is needed to be watched a few times to understand, although the manga does give more infor.
Highly recommend & would love it if anyone has any advice on how to translate a Korean paperback copy haha!

I think it was 2021 when I hear about this, the first time I have watched and read the manhwa was so special, and when I found that the novel was being translated I got so excited!!!
It’s about two former classmates Myeong and Seonho seeing each other at a high school gathering in such a long time. They do things that leads them to other stuff… eventually they come to confess to each other. Seeing them together and facing so many obstacles and desperately trying to fix them was really nice!!! I also liked that there was a POV from both sides!
I especially want to thank the translator for making this available for non-Korean speakers so that we’re not excluded! (the footnotes were also so helpful!) Loved every second of it!!!

¿Sinceramente? Yo creo que me esperaba otro tipo de historia. Se me ha hecho corta y no me ha gustado el argumento. Sé que al final la autora quería jugar con nuestros sentimientos de ese modo y hacernos confundir, pero a mí este tipo de jugadas no me gustan nada.

I was pleasantly surprised and thought the artwork was very well done. It's a short, one-one shot style yaoi/BL comic about a high school crush that turns into more at the reunion. There is the barest hint of dub-con before it is washed away in glorious, enthusiastic consent. There is also a whiff of a misunderstanding trope, but that's also sent packing.
So for a low-stress, childhood friends (sort of) to lovers, beautifully illustrated story, I can recommend

Pro tip: Watch the anime too.
This was beautiful to read! The artwork alone was stunning but I loved the actual story as well! I kind of like that the story is very ambiguous and leaves most of the actual plot up to interpretation (The girls who get it, get it). The manga is definitely more indeterminate than the anime (especially because the anime version has a bonus scene that shows Myongi & Sunho together after the fact), so I definitely recommend watching the anime too if you want to feel a little more satiated.
But this entire story, from my understanding, is based almost purely on aestheticism, which we love! It's more about the portrayal of emotions than it is about plot and individual scenes. If you read the author's notes and how meticulous they were about the color schemes, the buildup of every scene, even minor details on how the voice actors should interpret the scenes - you can see how much went into the creation of something beautiful solely for the sake of being beautiful.
So, for me, I think this is gorgeously unique and I count it as a win.

Me siento mal porque no me haya gustado, pero la verdad no he entendido el propósito de esto. Realmente no es que hubiera trama y la verdad no me gusto mucho el arte aquí. Y esa especie de capítulo extra me sacó totalmente de onda y no me llamaron mucho los personajes, pero puedo decir que el final me ha gustado un poco.
Edit: me vi la animación y como que me gustó más. En fin, le subo 0.5 a esto.

Visuals great. Story confusing. There is no plot. My Coworker read it and said the same thing but a part of me was like “oh maybe I can see something” but nope. It’s almost like it was supposed to be a short film but couldn’t be done so made into a manwha instead. It sucks cause it’s only a one-volume, so can’t continue to get context and background.
