This was an incredible conclusion to the Flamegate duology. The amount of detail and thought that went into this book honestly amazes me. The twist was perfect. I thought I knew what was going to happen and then the rug was pulled out from under me in the most magical way. I’m going to be thinking about this book for a while.

A timey-wimey masterpiece! Gosh, the twists and turns in this book had my jaw dropping and my head spinning. I loved every moment of it and was so invested in the struggles of chaotic MC Phoenix and his motleyy band of friends. Plus the ending was perfect yet heartbreaking. Perfectly heartbreaking.

Strap yourself in. Because holy hell this book starts with a bang and does not stop! This adventure really steps it up book 2. The twists are fantastic, heart wrenching and unexpected. There is nothing predictable about this story. The way it all comes together in the end is actually mind blowing. Prepare yourself for an emotional rollercoaster. The uniqueness and quirkiness, of both the writing, story and characters, are just as awesome as book one. Highly highly highly recommend!

The fact that this is a duology, and not a 10 part series, is truly devastating.

*Sits quietly, and desperately, waiting for Kate Mac to release her next book*

A amazing, riveting, plot twist filled story.

I would say this was just as wonderful as the first story, if not more.
My favorite parts were, throughout this fantasy
adventure there were very real moments, real world painful and happy moments people have been through peppered through it. There's a scene where Pheonix is probably on the verge of a break down, and this character Bee asks him about the weather in Yonder. Because sometimes all you can do when things are falling apart is chat about nothing at all.
Also the characters have wonderful growth and yet still remain just as lovable and familiar.
One character, Alice - is cleverly written and keeps you scratching your head and questioning everything.

I want to say this story made me teary eyed atleast 3 if not even more times. There's a good balance of comedy, and wonderful witty banter throught all the ups and downs. The light hearted moments, are what gives the action and painful moments all the more power.

This story kept me on my toes, struggling to gues every twist and turn.

The pacing is fantastic, and had me binging the story for 3 hours straight.
I also loved the strong emotions and themes captured in the story, the question of if we have the ability to change the past or future, and what does life really mean - what is its value if it all ends eventually along with the moment where one of the characters refuses to let another die- despite the fact "they aren't special to the plan or future"

Kate brings you on a Rollercoaster of emotions, from cursing her name, to laughing at a "comfort chicken" to being afraid if the story truly will have a happy end, to letting out a breath of relief and a smile

My few critiques or not favorite things, was a romance / couple towards the end of the story (their names would be spoilers or close to it)
Seemed as if it was thrown together- mind I'll give credit , there was a lot going on and it was being wrapped up, but I wished it could have had one or two scenes to show the chemistry before the character died. Though, it could have been intentionally made that way.

Also, a few of the twists could have had a little bit more foreshadowing. Some of them seemed
Totally from left field- although there could have been hints along the way that I missed, I won't rule that out either.

All in all this story is so terribly worth the read, and is just as good as the first, if not possibly better.

It's time for Phoenix to stop running away and take the fight to Flamegate. As ever, Phoenix remains such an endearing protagonist to follow. Right from the opening chapters of the first book, with him escaping captivity alone, I was invested in his story, and this second instalment in the Flamegate series does such a good job of building on its original strengths while expanding the universe further and raising the stakes. Defying genres, I noticed a fellow reviewer mentioned the films of Makoto Shinkai, which is definitely the immaculate vibe for Flamegate, with its multiverse portaling and emotive storytelling.

What an absolute rollercoaster of emotions!

I didn't think it'd be possible to top the first book in the duology, but Flamegate: Into The Void takes the cake and eats it too.

It's just everything I love in a fantasy book: a cast to deeply care for, adventure, friendship so strong to bend the boundaries of time and space. Plus the BEST plot twist I've seen in a book in a long time.

You will love it if you like:
- any Makoto Shinkai movie
- fantasy anime
- multiverse & time travel
- Neil Gaiman

There's no doubt this duology will stay with me forever.

These characters have fully taken up residence in my head and in my heart, and I’m not mad about it at all. Such an exhilarating, heartbreaking, twisty end to this story!

Oh my goodness. When I started the series it felt like a lovely whimsical journey reminiscent of a fantasy book from childhood, and at the conclusion I ended up crying.

Everything I said about the first book applies, the characters, dialogue and rich descriptions are when it really starts to shine and I definitely felt that in this book and more.

I also felt like Kate incorporated a lot of messages about society in here that were intelligently wound with the universe.

Although time travel can often feel confusing. I just tried to let myself go along with the ride and that was perfect because I just felt like I was learning along with the characters. Don't try and figure it out because it comes together. During the last quarter of the book, I could barely put it down.

I do want to keep my review spoiler free but the but the truly human emotions this book delves into are heartbreaking but beautifully human. Definitely give this indie book a chance!!
