I had mixed responses to this book. First, the plot. In the beginning, it was a little slow moving. By the end it was all thrown together. The only thing missing was the kitchen sink with a bow on top. Granted, there were moments of intrigue and good pacing; however, those moments were few and far between. Next, the saving grace for this book were some of the characters, especially Alex and Susan. I was rooting for them to be together. Then, there were other characters that I could have throttled! Furthermore, there were so many other characters in the book, there could have been a series about the various couples and their respective love stories. I believe this was a missed opportunity for Daphne Byrne. Lastly, with my emotional attachment to this book all over the place, I could only give it a 3 star rating. This was an OK read that left me wanting a better reading experience.

This is a story where most of the characters are only presenting the face that society wants to see. There is intriuge in the story with a lot of secrets slowly revealed throughout the story. Lady Susan Turner is almost a spinster and a bluestocking. Lady Susan's life changes when arriving home late from a women's meeting, she literally runs into her new neighbor, Lord Alexander Blackwood. As secrets are revealed so are Susan and Alex's truth personalities. There are a few "steamy" parts. Otherwise for me, a rather well written story with interesting outcomes for several of the characters. I do wish the extended epilogue would have had a surprise for Susan and Alex.
I love Daphne Byrne’s books. Some absolutely mesmerizing, others not quite as good. This is one that I kept hoping for more action. There was turmoil but not the heartthrob that I like so well. Susan was perfect and Alexander needed a little more fight in him. It was a beautiful ending. I just prefer it when she puts a lot more action and twists in her stories.
The Grumpy Earl and his Virgin was a very nice story with a scheming Duke and a deceitful daughter.Causing a lot of trouble just to get what they wanted. It evolves to a great conclusion at the end.A fantastic read all round.Well written and all characters were great.loved the Extended Epilogue to this delightful story.
Alex is being blackmailed over his brother so the last thing he needs is to fall in love with Susan. He meets her and falls in love with her fortunately his brother returns and they are able to defeat the blackmail and he and Susan can have their HEA I would recommend this book.
Susan is fighting for womens rights, and Alex is being blackmailed for something his brother is supposedly guilty of. Oliver comes home and they discover the truth. Alex falls for Susan but due to his being blackmailed he is making speeches he doesn’t agree with. It was a good story.
Susan and Alexander The fight for women’s right was a hard fought battle. I can see where the heroine might dislike the hero at least until she gets to know him. The hero has been forced into a situation not of his making and doing something that he feels is wrong. The author characters have an interesting pov with this issue and I enjoyed seeing how everything was going to turn out.
The best book i’ve read in a while. I Loved it from start to finish. Susan is opiniated and a blue stocking fighting for women rights. Alex is the opposite until she found out his secret. He loves her the way she is and she couldn’t help but falling in love with him. Highly recommended
Susan definitely deserved Alex and her HEA! She has been such doll through the other 2 books and I loved her wit and humor! Alex immediately grew on me and his sweetness on Susan even though she kept giving him a piece of her mind when they met. This story had my heart and I really love these two characters. So sad this is all we get of the Turners.
Lady Susan is a spinster with a secret her new neighbour is the eligible and notorious Lord Blackwood he is also not he appears. Sparks and attractions fly between them. Someone is out to ruin Lord Blackwood follow the twist in the and obstacles they try solve.
An enjoyable quick read .

I was given an ARC copy of this book. I enjoyed the strong heroine and her fight for women’s rights. The workings of the “Ton” fascinated me and the lengths some go to to control others. Highly recommend.
I do love a well written book! Loved some of the literary references used to good effect in the book and the characters were well drawn and not just the two main ones. Well worth a read!
True love will find you even if you are hiding. This story is a wonderful tale of conflicting beliefs and how that can get you in trouble. A story filled with memorable characters and a plot of ups and downs, instead and outs but totally enjoyed.
So good, fast moving, great ending and absolutely lovable characters with great interaction. As long as we leave out the evil Duke and his most reprehensible daughter, but great ending.
This was a great finish to this 3 book series. I liked the slight mystery involved and the main characters were interesting but not annoying. Good story.
