Published in 1987, 'A-10 Thunderbolt II' is number 28 in the popular 'Modern Combat Aircraft' series by publishers Ian Allan. As this is one of the later additions to the series, the style seems to have changed somewhat - a lot more technical detail is included. In other respects, much the same with lots of excellent illustrations. As this was written at a time when the type was still in service, it does contain a lot of conjecture about the types effectiveness in service, since it had yet to be blooded in action. Amusingly, it concludes with a discussion of the possible types to replace it in service - here we are 36 years later with its retirement once again put on hold due to a lack of potential replacements that would do the job adequately. An enjoyable read.
