character building was great but too religious for me

I enjoyed the characters and their stories. However, it was way to religious for me. I also didn’t appreciate the commentary about abortion, urban vs rural life, male/female traditional roles in a relationship. I enjoy clean romance novels but I’ll skip the religious lessons.

Wonderful Christian Boxset

I really liked the clean language and the clean, inspirational romances of the characters. The characters wanted to please God and lived their lives accordingly. Emphasis was placed on submission to the Lord's plan for their lives, forgiveness for sins in their past, and being loved by God. Christian values were a big part of the stories. I would definitely recommend this boxset.

loved the series🥰

I enjoyed this series very much. It handled tough situations with great wisdom and compassion. I learned some good lessons on how to act and react to the issues of life when face to face with them. All of life is a result of our choices. We must make them prayerfully and carefully. Also we must help ourselves and others to face and be honest about our choices and let God work them all , together for good. Very wise and loving author.

Book 1 - Yesterday's Treasures:
A sweet second chance marriage romance. I really wasn’t sure about this book but I was drawn in immediately. It takes a good, hard in-depth look at marriage and love. So many good lessons shown in here in a wonderful new town. I’m excited for more. Parts of this story broke me and I’m sure the next one will continue it.

Book 2 - Tomorrow's Blessings: There were definitely hard parts of this book, which I knew there would be from the previous book’s epilogue. Some things were definitely way different than I expected. It was a good read. I’m enjoying this close knit town. The audio of this really adds emotion to this story. Phew!! This is a tougher series to listed too. Real life.

Book 3 - Beautiful Forevers:
A lovely next installment in this beachy small town. There was a lot of unexpected in this book and a heavy theme on grace and trust. I’m looking forward to the next book and more of all of this town. It’s funny because, now that we live in a small town, the skating on the street really sticks out to me, except here it’s biking and walking. And, by on the streets I mean in the middle of the road, taking up the whole road. Lol. I really needed to hear the “live in the moment “ and “just breathe” lessons. I love Dyess audios because I know that they will only add to the book rather than detracting.

Book 4 - Precious Memories:
I loved this book. A sweet small town book to read just days after moving to a small town. There were so many helpful tidbits and life and faith info in here. Along with raising children. I really liked the medical side, though I had completely different symptoms (shortness of breath and heart things) I got the same diagnosis of stress a couple years ago and was told that my heart could get damaged if things progressed. I remember thinking it was crazy because I felt less stressed than other times in life. And, gradually, things got better and I rarely have the symptoms now. Anyways, excuse my tangent, I really savored this book and loved the characters and circumstances.Definitely one I was glad God brought across my path to listen to. Life has been just crazy lately with more things getting added every day. You know the saying "when it rains, it pours"? Well, it feels like it has just been pouring, pouring, pouring. This book gave me some advices and reminders on handling life.

Book 5 - Misty Mornings:
This book deals with a topic near and dear to my heart. I think it was handled exceptionally well. I was impressed. I liked how it told hard truths with compassion and warmth. I’m excited to see where this series takes us next.Audio:It’s a bit different listening to this audio now that I have my own house and am currently pregnant. I’m also further along in my mothering journey, though not much. Always good lessons to learn and relearn.

Book 6 - Sweet Afternoons:
I love this down to earth movie star book. It was another wonderful installment in this blueberry series and had many wonderful nuggets on handling your life and changing your attitude.I’m listening to these audios a lot slower than I used to as life has changed a bunch. But, perhaps it gives me more time to actually reflect on the life lessons I’m being reminded of. Gussman has a way of doing that, constantly reminding you of things that the devil would prefer you forget. It’s amazing. And Dyess has a great way of bringing it all to life.

Book 7 - Magical Twilights:
I should know better than to start a Gussman book when I don’t have hours to read and should be going to bed… exhaustion was hard pressed to pull me away! I love this new creation book and am super excited for the next book to find out the secret that’s been hinted at the whole series. I have my suspicions. ;)Another great audio. Fun and serious and uncertainty all rolled into one. It was a joy to ponder on while doing dishes. ;)

Book 8 - Tender Mercies:
A rough ending to this lovely series. Not rough writing - superbly authored. But, rough in that is is very emotional. It’s always hard to say goodbye to characters and a town you’ve grown to love, however, I always know that whatever Gussman brings next will be equally as amazing.

The books' descriptions below are a good synopsis.
While I enjoyed the box set, I found several small errors in spelling and in misuse of homonyms, and odd small errors like missing or extra or misplaced punctuation. While the errors are relatively minor, it points IMO to more proofreaders with less and less schooling in grammar.
Other than that, mostly I find the stories sweet, but the pacing is uneven to some extent. There is a spot where the reunion plans of Leiklyn, Willan, and Tiffany, which they fulfill, are attributed to Ivy May, yet when you get to the big secret she has, it has nothing to do with an agreement to meet classmates in the future that never came through, nor the location, and the event is completely different from Leikyn's secret, about which Ivy May knew nothing. It in fact involved 3 others, far different people, directly and several more peripherally. The connection needs to be rewritten so that future readers don't wonder what one has to do with the other, since the reference to an unfulfilled reunion is followed by a story about a reunion that haopens and several more stories about the 3 who reunited before we get to Ivy May's story.

Good clean Christian stories

I enjoyed being able to read all 8 stories with no swearing, no drugs or alcohol, no blood or violence and no graphic sex scenes to fast forward through.
You can actually get invested in the lives of the characters because the author creates a vivid picture of each character. It was great to also follow the characters as the stories built upon each other.
The only negative I personally had with this boxed set is...the stories literally end before I felt like they should actually conclude. This was my first time reading this author and as much as I enjoyed the stories for the reasons I stated I'm not sure I will read any more. I guess I prefer a story to get to its conclusion. I like the characters to build and carry forward in each book though. I feel like a lot of time was invested in reading here and I guess I just feel letdown the way each story ended.

I liked that throughout the stories in this collection, author Jessie Gussman allowed her characters to struggle with the consequences of their sometimes questionable or impulsive decisions, but she always incorporated good scriptural principles for them to live by and provided a path for them to return to their faith. I loved characters in each book, and also the community that she build throughout this collection. There were good friends who helped support each other during any season of life. There’s some clean romance to enjoy, and the beach setting made me feel as if I were there on the shores of the lake. This was sweet and entertaining reading with faith principles to encourage the reader, and I’ve already purchased another collection of this author’s stories. I’m looking forward to reading more from her.

This eight-book Blueberry Beach Box Set was the first time I read anything by Jessie Gussman, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Whenever I attempt to read a series, the first 25 or 30 pages determine whether I will be reading the last page at the end. By the end of the first book, I was ready to move to Blueberry Beach. Jessie Gussman makes the characters real and makes you want to root for them and their journeys. Her stories are compelling and intertwined with a deep sense of spirituality and hope. The characters in these stories are not right out of "Central Casting"; they are more imagined like people we might even know. And like the best authors, Gussman leaves you wanting more. It was a worthwhile read, and I will discover more of her work in the future.

incomplete

The blueberry beach box set of eight books was ok until the last book. The ending left the reader hanging with no outcome for any of the characters. I found this very frustrating since the ending was a heartfelt story that just closed without any real closure for anyone involved as the characters. I’ve learned you have to be careful with box sets, because they can either be a compilation of several books that are not related, or I could end like blueberry beach Betty where is still wondering OK she went for a walk, but so much was still unsettled. For me that makes the whole box set annoying.

Lee

Loved the different people. , did not like the way they were dropped in the next story, would have been better to keep addicting boys of info as the stories went along. One epilogue was. Not even about the last story but a w beginning of the next story. When in the last story, all the characters that had been helped by the lady that was dying should have been mentioned by name when visiting her, seemed like her influence was forgotten by everyone but Bev and Bill! Disappointed in the ending without knowing how the whole town was doing, the Inn, the minister in his adoptions His wife, et

An Excellent Series of Books That Build on Each Other

I enjoyed this series. The characters from the beginning flow in and out of each book. I like that faith in God was prominent throughout. It was interesting to note that 3 characters got pregnant at a very young age, and almost all the characters had broken marriages with one parent trying to raise them to a better life. They point out that we all make mistakes, but God is willing and ready to welcome us back into His family.

A second chance at love on the beach of Lake Michigan for 8 couples.

Loved being with this author. Each every story was sweet. All of the couples had difficult pasts. But their love for each other and putting God at the center changed things around for the better. Loved too how the kids in the stories enter acted with their folks and accepted someone new into their parents lives. Will read more by this author soon.

This series could be classified as "Christian romance" or "women's fiction." The characters are explored in depth with lots of conversations about relationships (romantic or otherwise) and thoughtful advice. No soft porn type sex, and lots of attention to emotions as well as actions. Religion is an integral part of each story, but it's really not as preachy as many. I enjoyed the stories. They reminded me a little of Maeve Binchy's work.

Close ties in a small town

The stories were great. All the faith they all had was heart warming. Only the love and faith of the Lord all it takes to be happy and at peace. All the people involved in the stories were truly Christian's. Thank you for a very enjoyable time reading all the books.

Great series

I’ve gotten many blessings from all Jessies’ series but this one was special, it brought people together not just the two involved in a romance, but the whole town joined together, the only negative that I can say which isn’t even a negative except for me lol, because I like to know everything, is what happened next!

Blueberry Beach

I truly enjoyed the series since I grew up in southwest Michigan on Lake, Michigan. The characters were just delightful, and some point in time in my life I met many of them. My only concern is that there are no shells to go look for a lake, Michigan beaches. Yes, I would recommend the series.

Friendly, small town, Christian romance series

I do enjoy reading book series’ about small town life where the town folks welcome and support newcomers. This series, while entertaining to a point, was, unexpectedly for me, very heavily laden with religious talk and lessons which is not what I look for in romantic fiction stories.

I loved this series!
The characters are either Christian or become Christian through the course of their stories, but that doesn't mean that they are perfect in any sense. They still sin and those sins have consequences that they face with grace and love from friends and family is the lovely little town of Blueberry Beach on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Lessons for life

I very much enjoyed this set of beautiful stories, written with such wisdom and insight into marriage relationships, with each couple’s experiences being ones that others could learn from. I enjoyed each book and loved the way the characters from one story were included in some of the others. A delightful reading experience. Thank you.

Blueberry beach

Very thoughtful book, I enjoyed every minute of these books. Even though you might not be a Christian the way to understand life is so uplifting and true. The best way to enjoy life is to help others. Gets your mind off yourself and your problems and even your problems seems to find answers .

Christian faith in action

You will want to read the entire series!
Iva May has a central part in each of the 8 books. Her faith and Christian advice guide and encourage many individuals and couples. The secret she has kept for 40 years is a doozy! She guides her daughter, Bill and Bev through last days of her life with joyful acceptance.
