(4.5 stars) - Delightful as always! (content caveats)

Charlotte is a young woman who likes to plan, & at the beginning of the story, thinks she has a pretty good idea of what her future will look like. By the end of the story, everything will be changed.

She's not perfect, but she's a strong & likeable protagonist who tries to do right by people. I found her amusing as well as sympathetic.

She readily opens her heart to her cousin, Lucy, whose life has been stunted by a grieving, verbally abusive father. Lucy's immaturity is frustrating at times, but Charlotte's resolve on her behalf is touching.

I loved how Charlotte always managed to figure out Ridley - she's young but she's not dumb. His change felt a little sudden, but it didn't jolt, so it was a minor thing. Charlotte increasingly doesn't know her own mind towards the denouement, and while that may annoy some, I found it totally believable.

The happy ending may seem overly pat, but it's believable enough & one of the reasons I love this author's books!

***CONTENT***
*Romance: Sweet kisses, nothing graphic, no language
*Possible triggers: daughter of an alcoholic experiences neglect & verbal abuse; people who have body image issues or body image outrage will want to stay far, far away as both Lucy & Charlotte end up with weight issues that they deal with in non-modern ways

This delightful historical romance is set in Derby, England where Miss Charlotte Tarleton resides with her family. Her family are neighbours with Baron Ridley's family and Charlotte is best friends with the second son, Rhys.

Several changes happen in her life - Rhys is heading to university, her cousin Lucy comes to stay for a prolonged stay and she is constantly thrown into the company of Jonathan, the current Baron Ridley and Rhys older brother, who has returned to his estate intending to sell it.

This tale was very well written with interesting characters who were believable and likeable. Charlotte is a lovely, strong character who is very relatable and the author did a great job allowing the reader into Charlotte's and Jonathan's heads with a dual POV. Jonathan had many faults but he was a caring character. I found Lucy to be a bit irritating and I did not really like her character much - her obsession with her weight was believable though.

I battled to put this book down as it was entertaining and charming. This book contains no swearing and only describes kissing. I wish that there was an epilogue as I would have liked to know what happened later on in the protagonists' future. I rate this book 4.5* - it was a very enjoyable book.

Charlotte is someone you want to be

I was very impressed with the characters in this book. I felt like the main character, Charlotte, was like a friend of mine. She's a role model of a fine person. She's so kind and considerate, although she seemed hard on her man of interest. She is excited to have her cousin come to stay with her family, to be like a sister. Her cousin has some problems which Charlotte helps her with even to the extent of her own health.
Lord Riley sets out to keep Charlotte away from his brother because she has only a small dowry and is a country girl. He underestimates her and eventually sees her as not only beautiful on the outside but even more importantly on the inside. He is a confirmed bachelor for life but maybe....

A Bookshelf Keeper

I really enjoyed this book! Susanne Rogers is one of my favorite sweet authors. I really loved how the story showed truthful emotions among the characters. Many of them weren’t always positive but they were very believable. I especially liked all that the girls sewed together, making creative and useful clothes. I’m a seamstress and it was so enjoyable to read detailed descriptions of what they were doing. I also liked how Ridley and Charlotte worked out their relationship issues. It was a really good story. You should read this. I know you will like it!

Once again, Suzanne G. Rogers has crafted a fine enemies-to-lovers romance with all the hallmarks of her usual sweet romances: plucky heroines, dashing heroes, and humor. Along with our heroine Charlotte, I sometimes found Jonathon infuriating, but in a good way. Why? I will leave that for you to discover. I enjoyed One Little Kiss very much, and I think you will too.

A Sweet Story!

I enjoyed getting to know the Tarleton family. Who knew what "One Little Kiss" could bring about? Ridley and Charlotte were perfect for each other. I enjoyed the secondary characters especially Lucy, Uncle Hugh, and Lord Illsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Tarleton. The villlian while seemingly inconsequential surely caused heartache and drama. It was a fun read.

A little different story

I liked the plot, because it was different. The characters were believable and well developed. I'm not sure of historical accuracy however. I still enjoyed the book.

A sweet read about an older brother trying to sway his brother away from marrying the childhood friend and considering marriage to some heiress. In the process of his meddling he gets involved with the young lady and ultimately ends up married happily ever after with her

Nice story

It was a clean (language and kisses only) story and was quite enjoyable. Sweet ending. Lucy's story in this book was interesting. Very sad to start but good by the end of this book. Enjoy!

Back and forth

I enjoyed this book with its back and forth back stories. Rumors, lost love, meddling, and romance ran through every chapter with everything coming together for a Christmas miracle.

Solid 3. Clean. Sweet. Proper romance. Story felt like reading "a season in the life of an eligible lady". Just ordinary things. Some romance, some familial relationship challenges. Some misunderstandings. But nothing exciting really. Nothing that would make me want to reread it.

A pleasant enough romance . Definitely G-rated. The title “One Little Kiss” says it all as far as the spice level goes. This is one you can let your 13-year old read without worry.

Maybe not so little!

Lovely layered story about relationships, disappointment, some fun, good friendships, and definitely romance. I really enjoyed it so much. Highly recommended.
