I really enjoyed the practical approach of this book, and think it makes a very good introduction to the topic of interactional competence. Some of the examples, of course, were a bit outdated but that is the nature of the beast.

Good introduction to Conversation Analysis. Extremely organized & well-presented.
Should be supplemented with reading of original papers that are referenced in the chapters, particularly since some of the examples illustrating concepts are pretty basic.

I did wish there were answers to the Tasks given somewhere in the book.
