Compiled in one book, the essential collection of books by Henry Slesar The Delegate from Venus Dream Town Heart My Father, the Cat Reluctant Genius The Success Machine
1) "Examination day": ☆☆☆—It reminded me of BNW. It was engaging but predictable. 2) "Dream town": ☆☆ —It was predictable, and it lacks explanation for the sake of surprise or impact. The main character acted suspicious, too, which may be on purpose (which I doubt) or because of the questionable way of writing the story. 3) "The success machine": ☆ 4) "The reluctant genius": ☆☆ 5) "My father, the cat": ☆☆ 6) "The delegate from Venus": ☆☆
All of these short stories were incredibly predictable. However, I don't think this has to do with the fact that they were written in the last century since sci-fi was already developed (and plot twists were good already....) Additionally, women chacarters are all idiots. It was like reading a John Green from the sci-fi multiverse.
