In a sleepy little parish just outside of New Orleans, murder is no rare occurrence.
Sergeant Lance Knight has a pile of unsolved homicide cases on his desk. On the surface, none seem to be connected. The victims are all men with money or power. An investment banker, a lawyer, and a local politician. They don’t socially run in the same circles. Lance can’t find a connection.
Working closely with coroner Gina Goodwin, Lance and Gina discover a pattern. Three unrelated things the bodies all have in common—a string of lethal connections. Is it just a coincidence, or is it something more?
Things heat up when Lance realizes he’s getting close to finding the killer, and everything spirals out of control. Can he piece it together before it’s too late?

The idea for the plot was quite interesting, definitely something new for me. Unfortunately, it was executed poorly. I'm aware that this was a novel, therefore it won't be long but I'm pretty sure you should be able to build the scene somehow more. The characters are one-dimensional, and I wasn't able to connect with any of them. The whole plot twist itself was also predictable for me and I think it could've been built up more. I'm not sure if the inspiration behind the medical examiner - Gina Goodwin was the character - Dr. Donald „Ducky” Mallard from the show "NCIS" but I felt a bit of resemblance, especially in the way she was talking.

Lethal Connections, The Poison ID Unit by Eric Daniel Shane, Melissa Davis and Karen Fuller is a mystery set in Saint Bernard Parish in Louisiana. The story is about detective Lance Night who has enough on his plate with the everyday murders, but when body start stacking up with voodoo juju sprinkled all over it. He doesn’t know what to make of it. to make matters worse, he starts noticing strange things about his girlfriend Alexis, who seems way to interested in his recent cases. This is the second time this week. I have gone against usually not liking books set in the place where I’m from. They usually get everything wrong and almost make a mockery of the place I call home but once again with this book, I thought they did a great job not only with the vernacular and how people spoke but the setting and description was almost spot on although people really don’t get all into voodoo down here they do like a good folk tale which made this book that much better. I do want to say I love the ending with medical examiner, Gina and if there’s another book, I hope that plot line is explored I liked that Lance wasn’t from here, but I did get tired of him explaining why he couldn’t have a permanent girlfriend I found that was repeated way too much but everything else made this a really good mystery. I really enjoyed this book and hope this starts a new series by this group of riders.
