Comfort in Lavender Valley

Rate this book
Lydia Morrow has always been a bit of a nomad, but she has upped her game recently and does her best to live off the grid because that’s what people do when they are hiding from something.

The invitation to return to Lavender Valley Farm makes Lydia suspicious, but Harry’s credentials in law enforcement and Lydia’s love for Jewel wins her over. Lydia sets out from Yakima in her motorhome, heading toward the promise of safety, and the anonymity of a new small-town.

Once back at the farm, Lydia indulges her creative culinary side in the very kitchen where her love of cooking was born. Her skills as a renowned chef impress everyone in Lavender Valley. With the reminders of her foster mother’s love all around her, Olivia begins to relax and vows to make Jewel’s festival an even bigger success.

Will Lavender Valley and her new sisters of the heart provide the elusive safety and security Lydia is seeking?

Comfort In Lavender Valley is book five of Sisters of the Heart. There are six books and I am already feeling a little heartbroken that the next book will be the final book for this series. Tammy L. Grace writes the most heartwarming stories with characters you come to love and care for and settings I want to live in. She writes books that take place in a world where I want to live.

This story is about Lydia. We find out why she has never settled down and why she really needs Lavender Valley and her Sisters of the Heart. So far we have come to know most of the characters. They have all had their trials in life and need a place to land and people to support them. Jewel was their foster mother at one time just not at the same time. All of these ladies were close to her heart and she somehow knew they would need her farm as a place of healing. Not only that, they all seem to have the special talents that will keep the farm place going as long as they need it.

The Sisters of the Heart are all preparing for the Lavender Festival that takes place each year in Lavender Valley. This was a special project developed by Jewel and I believe it is a way to help provide for the business owners and to bring the community closer and give them a feeling of belonging. Jewel was a pretty smart cookie. She was a foster mom to many children over the years and she even has a dog rescue! I don’t think Tammy Grace is physically able to write a book without dogs as important characters. What could be better?

You really need to read these books to see how the special talents of all the sisters work together and why Jewel felt they would need her farm and the support of the other sisters. These books are very intricately woven together. You will love the main characters and the other people in town that you also get to meet. There are a few scoundrels along the way and that makes it all the more interesting.

I recommend these books for a binge read. I hate waiting in between but, at this point if you have to wait for the last one, it won’t be long. These books make you feel like you are wrapped in a blanket of love. Until next time…Happy Reading!

Awesome series.

I read Comfort in Lavender Valley(Sisters of the Heart Book 5) by Tammy L. Grave. SO good! This was another emotional read! I can not wait to read the next book but will be sad when it done. The women in this book have become real to me. Isn't that what a book is suppose to be? A book where the characters become "real" and you have an emotional reaction to them and their situation? Pick up all the books in this series. You will be so glad you did.

I had thought this next book would have been about Georgia, the oldest of the Sisters of the Heart since Harry had been unable to find Lydia, but the epilogue in book 4 had me informed that the prodigal sister was on her way back.
And her story didn't disappoint!
Lydia has been running away for most of her adult life. The brief five-year stint with Jewel in her teens was the best time in her life, but since then, even though she enjoyed many successes with her cooking and love of food, her experiences with men left a bad taste in her mouth.
When she arrives at Lavender Valley, she comes to fulfil the last wish of her beloved Jewel, intending on heading off, as soon as she is able, frightened of something catching up with her.
What she doesn't expect is that feeling of home that engulfs her and how every person she encounters in the small town welcomes her with open arms.
Still, secrets that haunt don't stay silent forever, and she has her fair share of drama that her new-found sisters and friends help her navigate. That chance of a future settled in one place becomes a distinct possibility.
This is another wonderful addition to the series, and I cannot wait to learn more about the final sister, Georgia, in the last book, which is loaded up and ready to read!

Chuck and Jewel Austin were wonderful foster parents. To many of their dozens of foster daughters they were the only parents the girls ever really knew or could count on. Throughout the years Jewel had written letters to five of the girls she had forged a special bond with. She enjoyed keeping up with their lives and keeping that special relationship strong. In book 1 Greetings from Lavender Valley (which is available as a free download), you meet all the main characters through these letters.

Decades later, (and long after Chuck had passed away) Jewel knows her time is coming to an end, so she writes a letter (to be sent after her passing) to Harriet “Harry” McKenzie, one of the five special women. She is very organized and a go-getter, and Jewel knew she could count on Harry to follow her wishes and get the other four women (that she calls Harry’s sisters of the heart) to join her at the Lavender Valley Farm. Each book is dedicated to following each of these women as they find their way back to Lavender Valley Farm and get to know their sisters of the heart!

In Comfort in Lavender Valley (book 5 in the Sisters of the Heart series) you meet Lydia. She is the last of the “Sisters of the Heart” to come home to Lavender Valley. Of all the sisters she was nearly impossible for Harry to find. Every time she thought she had found her; it turns out she had just barely missed her again. Once a famous chef, Lydia has now spent years on the run from someone in her past she is sure will try and kill her. She would like nothing more than to settle down with her little dog Vera and live a normal life again. Will she find the peace she seeks with the help of her new “family” and friends in Lavender Valley?

Since I am not one to retell the story, or give spoilers, I will leave it there. As with all of Tammy Grace’s books this newest one did not disappoint, I loved it as much as all her others. If you love small towns, furry friends, a bit of mystery, and a sprinkling of sweet romance you are going to love this one too!

This book reminded me of the theme song from the movie “Oliver”: Food, Beautiful Food 😊! Lydia’s arrival at Lavender Valley Farm, though unexpected, is a happy surprise for Harry, Olivia and Micki as they welcome her warmly into the family. Her cooking skills soon make her a popular member of the household, and this extends to their extended circle of friends as she and neighbour, Heath, devise scrumptious meals.
Tammy Grace has maintained her high standard as an author: although this was a 'proof' copy, the few errors i found were insignificant and didn't detract from the story.
Ms Grace manages to keep the specialized activities of the sisters as intrinsic aspects of each ‘instalment’, while maintaining her focus on the ‘main’ protagonist. This is the first book in the series that includes startling shocks for a ‘secondary’ character; and this, added to Lydia’s mysterious need to keep relocating, really keeps the reader turning pages.
i received a free review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Jewel has one final wish - for 5 of her foster daughters to move home for one year, take over her farm in Lavender Valley and become sisters of the heart. The women have never met but in her heart, Jewel knows they need each other. This is Lydia's story. Lydia is a chef and plans to create delectable items using lavender from the farm. She has lots of ideas but someone from her past is trying to kill her. She is so used to being on the run and staying one step ahead that she is not used to depending on anyone else for help. Harry is an ex-cop. If anyone can help it's Harry as well as her other sisters of the heart. This one had me on the edge of my seat. Beautifully crafted story. I can't wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this series.
Thank you to Tammy L. Grace for this advanced review copy. In return, I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Filled with yummy food ideas, sweet animals and wonderful characters!

Lydia is finally back in Lavender Valley with her little York's Vera, but she has a big secret. However, she loves cooking with her sisters of the heart and sharing that with next door neighbor Heath. When the huge secret from her past comes back, she has to decide how to handle it. Will she run or let her sisters and all the guys help her put it away for good? Read this to find out!

The pace is engrossing and the tone is hopeful with a character centered storyline that has one action scene and a few kisses. The characters are vibrant and engaging. This is more of a contemporary fiction story with a gentle romance set in a wonderful small town with cute animals to add to the story. If that sounds good to you then read this series in order! Enjoy!

As the series continues, we now get to read Lydia's story. Anyone who has read one of my reviews knows, I absolutely love Tammy's books. Every time I read one, I think it can't be any better lol. Tammy keeps outdoing herself with stories of everyday women that we can relate to....stories of hurt and disappointments that lead us to see that it's never too late for new beginnings and demonstrate the goodness that is sometimes lacking in our society. These books show us that there are still "good people" out there, people who want to and are willing to lend a helping hand and encouragement. Lydia finds those in the sisters of the heart and other new friends so that she can begin to heal and start a new and safe chapter of her life.

Readers, you are in a for a treat. Tammy consistently creates a place you want to be and characters that give you hope for the future. Lavender Valley is one of those places.

As these women gather back at Lavender Valley Farm in response to a final request from their foster mom, they find much more than they expected.

Book number five is Lydia's story. There's a reason she's late in arriving and even as she starts to settle into the comfort and beauty of the valley she's hiding a dangerous secret.

Great series! Thanks to the author for the advanced review copy. This review and opinions are my own.

After several setbacks, Lydia finally makes it to Lavender Valley and is met by Harry, Olivia, and Micki. She discovers Jewel is still reaching out to bring her 5 foster girls together as a family, as sisters of the heart. But Lydia has a reason that she never stays in one place very long, and that reason raises its ugly head. Luckily, the sisters, their neighbors, Clay and Heath, and the attorney Buck are not willing to let Lydia run again. Each of these books has a bit of drama and romance. I have said it in my prior reviews, but I highly recommend starting with Greetings from Lavender Vally where you meet each of the sisters when they first arrive as foster kids at Jewel’s.

Five stars

I really have enjoyed this series. I pre-ordered book five and read it as son as it appeared in my Kindle library. As with the previous four books , Lydia arrived in Lavender Valley with a broken spirit and in need of a loving family unit. This series features six women who had grown up in a loving foster home, yet never knew each other. Jewel, their foster Mother left her home to the six women, knowing that they will support each other and heal their broken spirits together.
Well written, emotional and a tight knit community. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

In Book 5 if this series we get to know more about Lydia, who travels around in her camper named Gypsy, and doesn’t stay very long in one place. As her story unfolds, we discover she is an accomplished chef, and she has a definite fear of someone following her. Heath, Clay’s brother, becomes close to Lydia through their love of cooking. As time passes she starts to trust those around her with this secret fear and also with her heart. Cannot wait for the next installment which will be Georgia’s story.

The wait for Lydia was worth it. This series has been so much fun. 6 ladies who were fostered by the same family who turned their lives around. Pulled back to Lavender Valley by Jewel’s will, they are truly becoming the sisters of the heart that Jewel wanted. Their lives before and after their time at Lavender Valley Farms have been tough and diverse. I have loved these stories and look forward to Book 6 and also hate to see the end coming.

I enjoyed the mystery centered around an old crime in this book. Lydia has a big secret that has been following her for years. I loved how the sisters of the Heart come together to help her find peace and comfort. I can't wait to see her get her happily ever!! I also enjoyed all the cooking tips and the yummy food. I wished I could have shared a meal with Lydia. Thank you, Tammy L. Grace, for writing a very entertaining book.

Comfort in Lavender Valley

This is the fifth book in the Sisters of the Heart Series. It features Lydia and several other foster children of Jewel and Chuck. These women come together and form a true bond of friendship and sisterhood. There is a mystery during the final part of the book. In the end Lydia finds true love as well. I am anxious to read book 6.

Book 5 of 6. I will be so sad to see this series end. This book was about Lydia. I have come to love the "sisters of the heart". Through all of their sorrows they have realized that these women are family. It may not be family by blood, but family by love. I can't wait to see what Georgia brings to Lavender Valley. It would be nice to visit them at Christmas (hint hint!).

I have been binge reading this series and I can tell with book 5 that the series is winding down. While I enjoyed Lydia, and her story, I felt parts of the book where rushed; like the ending. And parts where just dropped in, like with Cassidy. I will go on to book 6 and finish the series.
Still a good easy read. I will read more from this author in the future.

Great addition to the story. Lydia has been a bit of a nomad Her story is a great addition to the story. The sisters have had a hard time locating Lydia, a chef. She arrives at the farm in her motor home Gypsy with her little dog Vera. She delights the sisters with her amazing meals and soon secures a job at a local restaurant. Everyone is getting along well including Lydia and neighbor Heath, who discovers a secret himself. When Lydia is featured in the local newspaper, she fears her past may catch up to her. Mouthwatering descriptions of Lydia’s food creations are a great addition to this story.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
